She rubbed her nose against Korra’s, unable to stop smiling. “I wasn’t too worried...I know you aren’t fickle.” Korra was one of the most loyal people, Asami knew. It was the busy part that the heiress knew they’d have to deal with sooner or later.
“I loved our trip,” Asami said as she let herself fall onto the nearby couch, pulling Korra down with her and into her arms. “We should getaway again, or at least ignore the world for a while. I can make sure no one bothers us here,” she offered hopefully.
Asami’s eyes closed as she melted into the kiss. Her anger and hatred forgotten for the moment as she wrapped her arms around Korra. She kissed back eagerly, everything feeling in its place. Asami trusted that they could work through and overcome the obstacles standing in their way. They had survived so much together. Asami wasn’t going to risk losing another person she loved.
“I love you,” she whispered again between their kisses.

“Yeah, I enjoy being self-destructive didn’t she tell you?” Her golden glare came up to meet the nonbenders for a moment while the scowl on her face spoke volumes. She couldn’t stand the way she’d been acting as much as Karuna couldn’t stand it. She was tired, she was scared, she was ashamed, and pretty soon she would be alone. Shoving her hands into her jacket pocket her eyes lowered again, “What else can you expect from damaged goods? I don’t even know why she still puts up with me.”
“Why do you always have to play the self pity card?” Asami asked bitterly. She felt that Azula should know that she and Karuna loved her. They didn’t see her as anything but her cranky self.
“Hey...” Asami put her arm around the fire bender’s shoulder. “No one thinks you’re damaged goods. Karuna really cares about you...probably loves you in a gross romantic way. She has to in order to put up with all the emotional trauma you fling her way...”

Korra struggled to keep up as Asami started blurting out her every thought as quickly as she could. The southerner could feel her heart drop when she heard how uncertain the nonbender felt and it sounded like she was worried Korra would meet someone else while she was away. She didn’t blame her for being mad about Kuvira, she had every right to hate her for what happened to her father and that was a feeling that would probably never go away. But Korra saw so much of herself in Kuvira, she couldn’t help but want to help make her better, to help her redeem herself for her actions. Her heart was in the right place but she chose the wrong actions to portray it. Her mouth opened to say something when Asami’s next words caught her off guard.
“I love you.”
Her eyes widened and suddenly there was a giant lump in her throat. Why had those words caught her so much by surprise, why could she hear Kuvira’s ‘I told you so’ in the back of her mind. She had always been so sure of things in her past, but was left crushed when those things were stripped away from her. She couldn’t be sure about this, she didn’t want to be sure about this. She couldn’t stand having Asami ripped away from her too. Realizing she’d been quiet for much too long, she looked down only to suddenly feel tears, happy ones, leaking from her eyes.
“I love you too, Asami.” She said softly as she took a couple steps forward to close the space between them, Reaching up to cup the heiress’ face in her hands she pulled her in for a kiss.
Asami’s eyes closed as she melted into the kiss. Her anger and hatred forgotten for the moment as she wrapped her arms around Korra. She kissed back eagerly, everything feeling in its place. Asami couldn’t help but feel a little glad at the fire-bender’s retreat. It meant she felt some guilt and shame. Azula was her friend too, as odd as that may have been, so the heiress didn’t gloat for long.
“She didn’t say much.” Asami crossed her arms, “What hell, Azula? Do you like being self destructive or what?” No point in pretending to catch up, it wasn’t how their odd friendship worked anyway.
"So everyone gets a visit from the Dragon herself but me? I have to say, if I had feelings I'd feel a little hurt right now, Sato."
“You were on my list,” Asami replied cooly before adding, “I went to see Karuna first.”

the-whitedragon:
Karuna recalled the few times she met Hiroshi Sato. In the beginning, he had seemed like a genuine business man with a vision for the city. But later it had been revealed he had a hand in the Equalist uprising and caused much chaos and destruction. The situation indeed was puzzling; could it be possible to love someone despite their wrongdoings?
“You can’t feel guilty,” Karuna shook her head. “You had no idea what would happen.” The officer had learned the hard way the truths about acceptance and grieving. Blaming oneself for lack of closure would only worsen the mourning period and cause a person to descend in a downward spiral. “And because he loved you, he did everything he could to help and protect you.” Hiroshi might not have been a saint, but his heart was in the right place as a father.
Asami’s next inquiry should have already been predicted by the dual-bender, if she had been paying attention to the context. Suddenly, the ripples under the bridge weren’t so interesting anymore. She knew the subject about the great uniter would be touchy even months after the battle. “Yes, she is…” The grey eyed woman began carefully. “Though, since you mentioned it, headquarters is considering moving her.” Only recently had the young woman learned this information. Apparently Lin had been working on the transfer for weeks. “There have been a handful of death threats going around. And while we are the police force, we don’t want to chance it.” A shrug came next. “We have to make sure the prisoners’ lives are safe.”
Asami held back a snort at that. As if Kuvira cared about anyone else’s lives. Well except maybe Korra’s. She’d heard rumors about the two but Asami would address that later. Besides if anything was true, she knew Karuna would tell her.
“I’m sorry I asked. It must be hard to be friends with someone as interesting as me.” Asami said the word sarcastically. To the public Asami was a good guy but those close to her knew better. Karuna had a job to do and the officer’s public image was crucial to keep. Asami appreciated Karuna’s friendship and the love the grey-eyed woman had for her. Real friends were hard to find, let alone keep.
“Has Azula been around?” The non-bender asked bluntly, wanting to change the subject.

“Well...” Asami tugged at a raven lock of hair, knowing what she wanted to say but unsure of how to voice the words. Taking a deep breath, she dove right in but kept her eyes to the floor. “I met a lot of people on my travels..but I missed you...I thought about you all the time. I wrote you dozens of letters but I was too scared to send them because we never really discussed what we were. But even though I missed you, I was mad at you. You didn’t write as often and you’re helping Kuvira but I hate her so much....”
Asami sighed again, pushing away her angry feelings. She looked up into Korra’s blue eyes, a warmth passing over her as she blurted, “I love you.”

Asami strapped on Korra’s helmet before putting on her own. She revved the engine in an attempt to impress the master of all four elements before speeding off. The traffic was light making the drive to Sato Manor a breeze.
“Here we are,” Asami said happily. The servants were dismissed for the day, giving them complete privacy. Asami was glad for that, not wanting the press to spread rumors before the two women could establish their status.
She led the Avatar inside to the living room. The radio was still on from earlier in the day, playing lively jazz music. “It’s been a while since you’ve been here,” Asami commented, unsure of how to start their conversation.
Impressed would be an understatement, Korra loved riding fast through the streets, watching the lights flash by and the people disappear. It almost made her wish she was better at driving things. Almost. Once they were at the Sato Estate, Korra hurried behind the heiress, careful not to dirty anything or bump into anything fragile.
“It has been a while.. I don’t think I remember the last time.” Looking around for just a moment before turning back to Asami she held her hands behind her back, fiddling with her fingers. “Sooo what did you want to talk about?”

Asami leaned against the cool metal bench as she scanned the few people in the park for her blue eyed crush. Was it still a crush if they were together? Were they together? Asami shook her head, refusing to get insecure. She hoped Korra received her message about meeting her there.
The meeting had gone on a little longer than she had hoped, Raiko was speaking nonsense as usual, while Tenzin drawled on and on about, what was it again? Damn she’d have to try and remember it before tomorrow. Running through the streets now she hoped that Asami hadn’t been waiting long. She had gone away for a couple of months but last night she got the message that she would be back in town for the day before departing once more to help the Northern Earth Kingdom rebuild their railways.
The southerner wanted to spend every ounce of time she could with her before she needed to leave again.
Being careful of Satomobiles she sprinted across the streets and weaved her way through pedestrians as she made her way over to central park. Her heart was fluttering, both from the adrenaline and the thought of seeing her girlfriend.. err, Asami again. They were still girlfriends, right..? Making a face she slowed to a stop just across the street from the park. They hadn’t ever really talked about what exactly they were, Korra would have to make sure to bring it up this time before she left.
Walking into the park now she kept a lookout for those beautiful emerald colors eyes and her long onyx locks of hair. There wasn’t many people there, just a couple of people strolling along and a few kids running about. She was about to just start shouting her name when finally she spotted her leaning against one of the benches. Breaking out into a sprint she snuck up on her and slipped her arms around her waist from behind and hugged her close.
“I missed you Asami.”

Asami listened as Karuna spoke of her move and father. It was odd to feel it but relief washed over her. Finally, someone understood. “I know he died with a bad reputation but he loved me. I was so stubborn...I should have forgiven him sooner.” She sighed heavily.
The tall trees, shrubs, and water fountain blending into one long background as she worked the nerve to ask Karuna what had been bothering for days. She trusted Karuna to answer her honestly but she wasn’t sure what the grey-eyed officer would think of her. “Is Kuvira still in the city?” Asami knew she should have asked about anyone else. Korra, Mako, Bolin, anyone else. But her mind was somewhere else.
deadly-beautiful-asami:
Asami laughed at Karuna’s gesture. She had really missed her friend. There weren’t many people she could trust and Karuna always rolled with the heiress’s quirky humor.
“The park it is,” Asami agreed as she followed the slightly shorter woman. It was nice to be back in the busy city, around familiar sounds and sights. “I missed this place. I always think I can stay away, maybe start somewhere new but the idea never sticks…I guess after my dad…I needed a change…” Asami confessed quietly, so only Karuna could hear.

“Do you...do you want to go somewhere more private? My satocycle is around the corner...” She blushed at the suggestion, hoping it didn’t sound so sexual. But she needed to talk to Korra and she knew very few places in the city were free of eavesdroppers. “There’s plenty of food at my place,” she hoped that sounded better but it probably didn’t.

One moment, the officer was admiring the architecture of the train station, the next she was seeing black. If the melodious voice didn’t give it away, the latter’s height certainly did; the voice came from slightly above and there weren’t too many woman taller than Karuna.
A smirk took place of the initial surprised expression. “Of course, Miss Sato.” The grey eyed woman gently pulled the hands down and turned to face the heiress. “Where’d you run off to? I had to spend all my free time flirting with the receptionists…not all friendly.”

Kuvira. Asami frowned at the name. She didn’t trust The Great Uniter around Korra and she was slightly jealous but she decided to bring up her concerns later.
Feeling Korra’s hand on her face, Asami couldn’t help but blush as a smile broke her frown. She brought her hands down, resting them on Korra’s hips. “I thought marriage would calm Varrick down...” she sighed, thinking of his latest, “..but he’s definitely interesting. He thinks arctic hens are the next spy technology. I can catch you up on all of that, if aren’t busy...”

3 Act Relationship Sentence Starters
Act I “I…I really like you. A lot.” “Thank you. I had a wonderful night.” “I can’t stop thinking about him/her!” “This isn’t good. I shouldn’t be getting so attached…” “I don’t even know if this is love, but…I really like it.” “No one’s ever made me feel this way before.” “I don’t want to leave. I really don’t.” “I’ll write you, I promise!” “I always knew things wouldn’t work out between us, but…I still hoped.” Act II “All I wanted was to see him/her again.” “I was away for longer than I wanted to be. Sorry.” “I didn’t know what I expected, but…it certainly wasn’t that.” “I knew you’d move on. I knew it, and yet it still hurts–!” “I’m sorry, but I can’t see you with her/him. I just can’t.” “I saw how you looked at her/him. Don’t lie to me.” “So you never had feelings for me at all, is that it?” “Please, let’s just start over. I want to be with you.” “I want this to work out. Couldn’t you give me a chance?” “Fine, I understand. Then I guess…I’ll be going.” “I can’t stay. It’ll only hurt more.” “We can still be friends. We just…need distance between us. That’s all.” “I was a fool to think s/he would wait for me. It’s been too long.” “I thought I could belong here with you. Turns out I can’t.” “It hurts…but I’ll get over it. I always do.” “This time, I will write those letters. I won’t just disappear.” “I will become stronger from this.” Act III “What are you doing here?” “Just when I was starting to really heal…you showed up.” “I’ve left you twice. I don’t understand why you’ve sought me out.” “You never wanted me. I’ve accepted that.” “S/he must have rejected you, otherwise you wouldn’t be with me.” “All my life, I’ve been passed over for someone better. Not anymore.“ “I appreciate your apology, but what’s done is done.” “You don’t deserve me. Not romantically, at least.” “I’m going to make him/her see what s/he missed out on!” “I won’t pine for him/her anymore. I won’t!” “Even after all these years, I still….” “I’m pathetic. I can’t believe this.” “S/he needs to leave, or all this healing I’ve done will be ruined.” “Don’t look at me. Don’t touch me. If you do, I’ll…” “Why are you still here?!” “You made your feelings for me clear long ago.” “I told you how I felt, and you rejected me. That’s the end.” “I am not your back-up plan!” “…S/he needs you, right? Go, then.” “Leave. I know you want to.” “But if you leave…I never want to see you again.”

“Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, where ever the wind took me.” Asami replied with a nonchalant shrug but her smirk and the glint in her emerald eyes gave her away.
“How silly of the receptionists, to turn someone like you down.” She blew a teasing kiss at the officer, unable to contain her laughter. “So how important is it for you to check out the trains? I’m going to assume you can ditch and take a walk with me.”
Asami snuck up behind Karuna, not an easy accomplishment, and covered her eyes. "Missed me?" she whispered into her ear, trying not to laugh.

Asami gasped as she felt strong arms encircling her close. She immediately recognized Korra’s voice. Her heart stopped and sped up all at once, making her feel dizzy from excitement.
“I missed you too, Korra.” Asami whispered, not trusting herself to remain calm.
She turned around, hugging Korra back as she buried her face into the water-benders neck. Asami closed her eyes, the sounds of the park fading away. Just for a moment she wanted things to feel normal before the required updates and awkward questions.
Once she was sure her voice wouldn’t betray her emotions, Asami softly asked, “How have you been?” Did you meet anyone else? Did you think about me as much as I’ve thought about you? Asami let the hard questions die in her throat.
