It never fails trying to go about addressing concerns with someone problematic and them lashing out in a problematic way because they are well.. problematic. Being micro aggressive towards Black women or any women of color in a fandom should not be tolerated. Not when the main actress of said fandom is a Black woman who is highly outspoken about her position as a Black woman in this industry.

A lot of women of color are pouring their souls into creating content and wanting to share a safe space of ideas and thoughts but it gets discouraging running into people who are committed to perpetuating harmful stereotypes or just refusing to understand how comments and behaviors look or are viewed from a lens different than a white one. We should all strive to create a space and community that is positive and nourishing for everyone who wants to participate.

The negativity, the silencing, the messiness, the lashing out, the possessiveness over thoughts is so toxic and draining. It’s mostly why I choose to sit back and do my own thing. Nobody is being censored when you get asked privately to reflect on how things you’ve said impact other people. Even now I still choose to be protective of that platform because other people are involved. But if you don’t feel safe in that community, it’s ok to say something. Women of color in this fandom I see you and I love you. I hope you have a wonderful day.
