Don't feel ashamed of doing "CHILDISH" things
•buy toys/dolls/crayons •play with Legos •play old videogames/dress up games •weave friendship bracelets •watch cartoons •use stickers •draw pics of your favorite characters
If it makes you feel nice, do it. Don’t even worry about what other people think, because it doesn’t matter–if it brings you happiness, it’s not “ridiculous”, or “immature”.
You deserve to enjoy yourself.

sides as dumb stuff i’ve done
Logan: corrected grammar usage in the middle of a fight. was promptly punched.
Patton: made a bad pun during a funeral and burst into tears right after.
Roman: one-man play in underwear while home alone. the blinds on the window facing my neighbor were open.
Virgil: burned himself making cup ramen because he was too anxious about whether someone would come home and find him to take proper care.

If you’re a content creator, remember that there’s always a least one person who’s waiting for your next creation. They can’t wait to see what you’ll draw, write, gif or edit next. That’s the kind of fan that matters the most.

about writing and tumblr
Here is my prerogative as a writer.
I will write all sorts of stories. Some of them will be happy, and light, and cheerful. Some of them will muscle you into a dark alley and punch you in the stomach until you’re reeling from the pain. Some of them will be dark and they will make you uncomfortable, deeply uncomfortable. So uncomfortable you’re thinking about the issues they raise long after you’ve finished reading.
I will write all sorts of characters. Some of them will be good, and pure, and strong. Some of them will be nasty, petty and weak. Some of them will hurt other characters accidentally and some will hurt other characters on purpose. Some of them will stand idly by while others hurt those characters. Others will commit horrid, atrocious acts knowing exactly what they are doing.
I will write joyous themes like love, and friendship and success, and tragic themes like death, loss and failure. I’ll write about people suffering, I’ll write about the awful things people do to each other. I’ll write about dark, complex themes like betrayal, cheating, murder, rape, abuse, incest, oppression and suicide.
I want to examine us. I want to look at life - the beautiful things and the ugly things, and make sense of them all through my writing.
What makes me so sad about Tumblr is this new purist attitude that writers that explore the dark, complex themes that make people uncomfortable: the rapes, the betrayals, the abuse, etc are bad people. This is new - it wasn’t around for the last 25 years I’ve been in fandom.
It’s not an issue outside tumblr and fandom at all - George RR Martin has just about all the darkest, most complex themes in his books and he’s a multi-millionaire, award-winning author!
Writers (and other artists!) will at times create works that make you uncomfortable. That’s alright. Sometimes, that’s our intention, and sometimes it’s because it touches on topics that you haven’t thought about or have some personal experience with. If you choose to read them anyway, think about what you’ve read and the issues it raises, and what the implications are.
Tumblr’s new mantra of ‘if it makes me uncomfortable, no one is ever allowed to create it, and if I ask someone to stop creating it and they say no, they are a bad person’ is really disappointing. It’s also impossible advice to follow: because everyone likes different things, everyone has a different tolerance for discomfort, so where do you draw the line? Who is in charge of ‘this is okay’ and ‘this is not okay’?
If I’ve done everything I can to protect you from a theme in my story - I’ve flagged it, I’ve tagged it, I’ve put it behind and link and a cut and you still think I’m a bad person for even having dared to create it - honestly, bugger off.
No, really. I’m tired of people telling me it’s fine for me to write emotional abuse, murder and physical torture but omg not incest!~!!!~~@!!~~. Great, that’s your line. That’s fine. I respect your line, that’s why my works are always tagged and under cuts because I understand some people won’t like some themes. But that’s not everyone’s line, and it’s not my line. If I want to explore a dark theme, I will. It doesn’t make me a bad person, and I sure as hell am not going to apologise for it.
As per above, writers will write many things. Some of them you will like, some of them you will not. If you look at themes I have explored in a tiny fraction of my stories and decide I am a bad person because of it, I suppose that’s your prerogative, too. But don’t kid yourself that just because you’ve decided I’m a bad person, that I objectively am a bad person and should feel bad about myself just because you personally have decided I should.

Apparently, One Day at a Time is in danger of being cancelled!
Please tell everyone you know to watch at least four episodes over the next few days to ensure that it gets picked up for a third season!!!
This show covers topics ranging from depression and PTSD, to alcoholism, sexuality, and racism, all while being incredibly funny and never making fun of the topics it discusses so thoughtfully.
PLUS, it features a Cuban family with a gay daughter and a single mother who just so happens to be a veteran and a nurse.
I have never loved a TV family more than I love the Alvarez family. I have never cried over a TV family more than I have with the Alvarez family. And I truly can say that the finale of season 2 was the best episode of a sitcom I have ever seen.
Please, I’m begging all my followers to not let this beautiful show get cancelled because Netflix yet again doesn’t advertise the true gems in their library.
This cannot be another Sense8, where we watch representation get cancelled over another Adam Sandler movie.
Reblog and watch the show please!

Hey maybe people should start doing this here on Tumblr instead of calling people out for “not knowing enough about the characters” or “not reading the comics” or “blatant mischaracterization”
Plenty of people don’t have access to comic book stores and money to even buy comics or the internet to read the comics. Instead of discouraging people how about offer some knowledge that you have?
