i say this to precede the idea that most of my deeper feminist ideas are less driven by altruism and more driven by "personal" gain. I think that all interactions, romantic, platonic, professional, etc. would benefit from an even playing field between the sexes. The alienation between men and women is largely caused by this power imbalance, and this alienation is a large part of what creates the wide variety of personal ills that accompany thoughts about and interactions with the opposite sex.

My opinions on makeup are kinda just my opinions on all feminist issues, that being that i think women should be more like men, which sounds pretty bad but so far ive been right about everything so idk

anti-makeup but not in a male feminist way more in a "why would you do that cut it out" way. makeup when its not your wedding or a job interview is a waste of time and money and sets a precedent to be dashed later. it is a cost and a difficulty that women suffer disproportionately and so i therefore think it has no reason to exist.

Something really frustrating (to me) that happens, mostly in circles with a high percentage of neurodivergence, is that people will get so obsessed with the things that they like that they essentially refuse to engage with them. And I’m well aware some of that is just a product of being a teenager in a fandom space but it does often continue on afterwards.

I think Tumblr is probably the worst place on the entire Internet when it comes to this, because fandom is so rampant. You often see attempts at discussing the wider trends of fandom culture on Tumblr and it’s adjacent communities, but I think they fail to realize, because they are so entrenched in fandom them themselves, that fandom is essentially the ultimate echo chamber.

The work itself is almost never actually discussed or engaged with in fandom spaces. Characters maybe, concepts, lore, but it is always from a very Watsonian perspective. People on here love to bitch about how ‘the curtains aren’t just blue’, but their reasoning for the proverbial curtains being blue is rarely anything more than “it’s cause the character loves blue so much 😝🤩 I want to boil them in a big pot and drink their broth 😋🍲”

I don’t know why people on the Internet have such a brain rot about this but just because a minor is sexualized in some way in a piece of media that does not mean that the audience is supposed to want to fuck them. It is almost always a way to express something about the point of view characters. To the point that I would not consider it “sexualization of minors” or fan service or whatever at all. Because that’s not even kind of the point.
