Wrapping up the new year

Wow what an amazing year it’s been and no better time to start writing again. ☺️

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to write again. I had an older username I had to delete, though I was happy to let it go. I’m happy to let go of the past if it means making room for something bigger.. greater even!

I wanted a space where I can just freely journal my thoughts and what’s going on in my life as a way to look back. And boy, how 2021 has been THE year.

I want to summarise everything I was able to accomplish and if ever I have time, flesh out some of these items:

PROFESSIONAL

- get a pay rise twice in January, July at work 📈

- do 20 interviews for 8 companies across this year and make it to the final round of 6 of them 👔

- roll out these crazy initiatives at work that impressed my colleagues.

- stay unbothered. My colleagues literally press me regularly and when they think they’re getting under my skin with their micro-aggressive worded emails, I just file them away and fall back on my forgetfulness. My forgetful memory might be a weakness to others but if you know yourself well you can play it as a strength like for this instance.

- be promoted to a manager!!!!! 🙌 Literally was my dream to be able to achieve this and I finally did it after how freaken hard my working situation has been.

- reach a six figure salary. I think my new remuneration will be more than 100-110k, so I’m glad I was able to get here finally!! Joining one of my best friends in the 6 figures too (he got there two years ago).

PERSONAL

- mend my relationship with my brother. It’s not the best, but it’s doable for the sake of my other family members. I could harbour being angry because of what went down, but I choose to be the bigger person and move forward.

- get vaxxed before our age groups. Literally finessed our way to getting vaccinated when they wouldn’t allow us to.

- flying back to my home state. They too wouldn’t let us in unless we intricately laid out our plans. I got rejected twice before adjusting and re-tweaking the application and then finally being approved.

- reach a five year milestone with my one and only 😍

- propose to this said boyfriend of five years 💍

MY PARTNER

- my partner is now on a six figure income 🙌 so proud of him

- he taught at one university and marked at 3

- was able to get a marketing role after one of this ‘friends’ said he couldn’t do it

- was able to grow his follower count to 57k+ 👏👏
