She should have known better than to suddenly snap at him. What could he do? What did she expect him to do? He wasn't like past relationships or flings where the other would drop to their knees and kiss the toes of her combat boots. No. Topher Nottmorr was her opposite match, and it frustrated her how he could make her giddy one moment then pissed off the next. They probably would stare each other down, showing different emotion, but equally stubborn.
She told herself years ago to give up on happiness. All that mattered in the world was her acting career, her father, and his accounting business -- one that she had planned on taking over in a few short years. How that was going to affect acting didn't play out in her mind yet. It was the future and if she learned anything over the years it was that time changes things. Standing there, in the apartment bedroom, glaring at the man with eyes stinging with tears threatening to spill, she realized she did love him. It wasn't a lie.
Lip tugged and bitten down hard, Vidia curled her hands into fists again and squeezed her eyes shut. She counted to fifteen before prying her eyes open again and looking to Topher. She swallowed hard then marched across the room. Her hand rose, flat and shaking a little. She brought it up to his face, and froze again. Her stare intensifying. The weak expression in his eyes made it worse. She wanted to love someone that would be strong for her when she was about to crumble. Instead, they both were about to break. That thought struck the nerve. Suddenly the quiet room echoed with a loud whack. She glared at him and took two steps back, rolling her now stinging hand, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"W-wh-why can't you say it back...?"

Vidia laughed. The idea of an after party was hilarious. Like Storybrooke was capable of having a decent one that would last passed the witching hour of the night. She rolled her eyes at his sock remark. "As long as they're black, and matching, who fucking cares? I'm in heels." Small ones, but she didn't feel the need to point that out. "We're driving too, so get over the socks. And the fact we're in Maine." She smiled a little and got into the driver's seat. "You clean up nicely. I don't say that about most people." She turned the car on, revving the engine, and looked over to Topher. "Shall we?"

Every reaction was gold. He had to still be in high school. Those horrible hell years. Anyone that told you they were the best years of your life lied and should be subjected to an additional twenty years in purgatory. Vidia smirked, growing more amused and curious how easily she could get the boy flustered or snappy. He seemed to be trying to keep from becoming offended. What a work in progress. "You and ninety percent of the town." She tapped her finger to her chin and fake pouted. "If only they could form a proper sentence, or knew the difference between a clause and a sentence." She paused, taking a sip of her latte. "You better claim the title while you can."
Her head tilted a slight angle. "Yes." She answered in a level tone confused how her sarcastic remark actually made him feel lucky to sit with her. If he was brave - or stupid - enough to sit at a coffee shop table with her, she'd laugh. But grant the option. It wasn't her place to say no unless he was in her bubble. Stumbling on, he was causing her to rethink the offer. "Do you want to sit or not?" she asked a bit snippy. "I have lines to study and, quite frankly, your stuttering rambles are going to make my few gray hairs multiply."

High School Farce | Harrison and Vidia
Closing one eye as he cringed at her words, Harrison continued to drink his coffee. Well, he really did had it coming. Set up a large target and everything. This was a normal occurrence that he eventual got used to it. Besides, he’s heard worst thrown at him. “Right, idiotic and self-centered is the title of my autobiography,” Harrison spoke flatly. He found that making fun at himself tended to keep people from saying anything more biting. Still working on that.
Forgive him if his eyes bugged out inhumanly. In what world did he stumble upon that allowed him to sit near people he creep out on? Something was up. “S-Seriously?” Harrison blurted out and gripped his cup slightly, “I mean my chaos is but a speck to the universe, but really I can…” He trailed off when he noticed that he wasn’t making sense at all. Maybe she’ll change her mind.

Her brow twitched as the boy stuttered. Why was everyone so damn timid in this town? And people that were confident had horrible personalities. Save for a special few people, the town was a complete bore. She also wished that the blushing boy would snap back at her, give her some excitement for the day. She gave him a slight and brief once over. Timid and short. "Whatever," she spoke soft. With the flick of her wrist, she dismissed him and turned in her seat, resting back with an arm crossed over her stomach as she sipped her latte. She stared out the window, going over the lines she had memorized without looking at the booklet.

High School Farce | Vidia and Mikhail
Mikhail was focusing on a new trick, once again. He felt like it was all he’d found himself doing over the past few years. With his father dead, and not needing his assistance anymore, there wasn’t much else to do, seeing as he was unemployed, and didn’t see a reason to take a job he hated for money he didn’t need. He didn’t have many friends, either. And three years of sitting around his mansion, mostly away from people, meant that he didn’t have many friends. If he had any at all. The few times he did go out, he’d found himself in a situation much like he was in now. But after his third failed attempt at the trick, he sighed, looking out the window, beginning to stare off, almost intently, into space, focusing on what he could have done wrong. He didn’t realize his portion of window was far too close to another person, especially when the girl spoke up, agitated, and tore him out of his thoughts. “I- uh…” he blushed, realizing he didn’t have a good excuse for “staring” at her, even though it wasn’t at her, really, “Sorry…”

One bad look and Vidia didn't know if the girl would cry or run away screaming. That power often amused her, but she was on her best behavior currently. As Tink once told her, being a bitch only gets you so far. Even more so, Ro's fits that resulted in her telling Hilson that 'it's gotta be lonely being the biggest bitch in town'. She'd heed the 'advice', once.
Vidia chuckled quietly. "Sweetie, you don't seem like the type to get into fights or start them." She looked at the bruise again and started to frown a bit. "Must've hurt," she commented quietly. "Better than the souls I saw being carried out on stretchers when the rumble was cleared. It was a traumatizing event." How she was able to roll right as a chandelier came down was only luck. That could have easily been the end of her acting career. Or cause her to restart.

”Oh; Thank you—” Okay she wasn’t sure if was more of a question, but nonetheless he was grateful. Of course she had no idea who this person is, or what she wants hut from what she sees she means no harm, maybe she just wanted to talk?
Her bewildered green eyes turned to the brown haired woman; so she wanted to know about the bruises? Well, that’s plausible. “From the earthquake; i’m afraid..” Might as well give the details while she’s here. “It’s highly unlikely i’d ever fight.. So you can rule out that..” A slight, curved smile appears on her face, maybe the result of feeling a little lighter of talking to somebody.

Finally she was being recognized for her talent. Unfortunately Maria Deane was still in the program, but she had the lead. This pleased Vidia beyond any belief. Years of battling and barely coming up short left the bitter young woman even more. Yes, it was actually possible. Vidia wasn't even holding it over Deane's head either. Though they both were sassy and overall lacked empathy, Hilson was going to look like the bigger person- aside from the mighty smirk she gave her competition after she caught a look at the casting list.
For the first hour, the actress tried, almost desperately, to stay calm and be approachable. To be in the theatre, you had to have a brain and know how to use it, this then eliminated the greater portion of people that went to the school. Theatre was a haven or a safe zone for everyone from her. She participated, as she was expected, and seemed to please the director some what. However, when they broke out into the smaller groups and pairs to meet their counterpart. Forcing herself to be polite, Vidia offered a very slight true smile and her hand. Weak waves belonged on the elementary school playground.
"Vidia," she stated calm enough. "You did tech for the past year's worth of shows, correct? Good to see you got a shot." She truly meant it. Though she remembered Zane as a little skittish and shy, he worked hard and was dependable. He was cute with a boyish charm, but all it did was make her heart ache. She shouldn't be thinking about Nottmorr. Not now. This wasn't time for weak thoughts. She pulled out of the pathetic moment and gestured to a place on the stage. "Want to start?"

Faith, Trust, Pixie Dust || Spring Awakening Rehearsals || Vidia and Zane
It was the first day of rehearsals, so naturally Zane had gotten there early. Tech meetings were different, he’d been to so many of them that he knew when he had to be there early, when he had to be there on time, and when he could show up two hours late. Just like he knew when he’d have to stay until two in the morning. But this was a whole other game, and he wanted to make a good impression, especially if he ever tried to get cast again. And he was the lead, too. Supposedly they were important enough to the show to need to be there. But he almost hoped he didn’t, not sure if he was mentally ready for the pressure or not. Theatre was trial by fire… it probably wouldn’t matter to anyone but him, as long as he didn’t crack under it.
The first hours had gone by fast, a name circle, a quick summary of the show for whoever wasn’t prepared and hadn’t already read the script, followed by a read through. That was all easy enough, nothing too horrifying, and with the help of character names, he was all but sure that he could at least recognize everyone in the small cast. He hadn’t spoken much, even during the quick break they’d gotten between acts one and two, not sure what his place was, or if he should talk to the guys, or his fellow leads. He probably should make the effort to get to know the girl playing Wendla, Vidia Hilson, but she… there was a vibe about her that made him a bit nervous. I’ll wait for it to be relevant… yeah.
But it soon became just that, as they split the cast off into pairs, for team building, trust exercises. And he was with Vidia, of course, due to their being romantic interests and scene partners. It only made sense for that to happen. So, taking a deep breath, he moved towards he, offering a shy smile and a half wave as he approached. “Um… hey. I’m Zane. Nice t’meet you.”

The moment the window opened, Vidia nearly tossed herself into the bedroom. Her heart pounded in her chest. I fucking hate heights, she hissed. Had she been blessed with wings, an old wish from when she was younger, things would be different. Here she put her health on the line to check on Topher. It shouldn't -- he shouldn't -- bother her or be this big of a concern to her. Five days use to be like the blink of an eye. She cared for very few people, and fewer she'd scale a tree for and scoot out on a unreliable branch. None the less, she forced herself to keep composed and brushed off her jeans before leveling her eyes at Topher. How she wanted to walk up and smack him across the face.
Now that she was here, Vidia couldn't think of a way to express her concern without, well, seeming overly concerned. She really liked him, but they weren't exclusive. Hell, she could count on her hands how many times they hung out. But it hurt. Her heart twisted in painful knots as she stared at him. Finally after silence fell for half a minute, she found her voice.
"Why did you leave the hospital without telling me or waving fucking goodbye? I waited beside that cot for hours, waiting to make sure that you were okay. I sat there with the doctor giving you the synopsis and you just---" she threw her hands up in the air then dropped them back down to her sides. This was not how she planned. She was showing emotion other than sarcasm. Her voice a mixture of pain and anger, and she currently couldn't care less. "You couldn't..." she started, rolling her hand into a fist to stop her hands from shaking, "you couldn't even fucking text me? Not once? I get that you're mute. It fucking blows but get over it. Or let me in, gods DAMNIT! I love you-" She wasn't suppose to say that. She didn't even know what love really was. Her eyes grew from her slip, jaw hanging open as she tried to mumble something to push her feelings aside. Now who was the more vulnerable one?

"Quite the contrary, sweetheart," Vidia calmly stated as she sat down, immediately turning slightly towards her, crossing one leg over the other. "You were here first. So rightfully, you can claim it." The girl really didn't know who she was, did she? It always interested her when she found people that didn't know her reputation. However, today, she didn't feel like toying with this one. Someone did a number to her fragile face, one that would be remarkably pretty if unharmed. Or was it from the earth quake.
Her brow furrowed, "did someone give you that shiner?" It was one thing to toy with people's minds but to physically hurt another person sickened Vidia. If it was a fair fight, Hilson would calmly nod, stand up, and walk away. But this girl seemed too out of it, calm, and quiet for Vidia to think she instigated a fight.
Tumblr media
Silena’s head shot up to spy a pretty girl; maybe she was sat on her bench or something? “Uhm, nope.. I can move if you want me to leave..” She’d be a little reluctant, she wanted to just stay here for a while maybe a few hours. The ducks kind of calmed her, the whole place did.. and perhaps she should go swimming, the sea always made her happy.
Tumblr media
Her green hues stared curiously at her as she waited for an answer. Something told her she may not be the friendly type, but at the moment she was very grateful for any kindness shown to her.

Her brow slowly quirked as the boy stumbled over his words, trying to explain his situation, suddenly jumping up as he claimed this was his usual table. She smirked, trying not to laugh at hearing that. His usual spot? Vidia glanced him over. Weak, introverted, people problems. Her leg crossed over the other, a sign she wasn't leaving anytime soon. Though, would he pick up the subtle cue?
She playfully pouted at him as he stopped his rambles. They were actually pretty entertaining. Most people avoided her at all costs - turning on their heels and skidding out of the room. Her head cocked slightly to one side as she thought of her next move. "It is rather idiotic and self-centered to think no one sit at your table, sweetie. But I'll tell you what," her eyes filled with fake sincerity, "you can sit in the other chair." Pointing lazily at the chair across from her, "wouldn't want your day to suddenly spiral into chaos just because your table was taken."

High School Farce | Harrison and Vidia
People sometimes look at Harrison like he’s a strange anomaly when he was in a public place other than school. He can enjoy coffee like any other coffee addict. It’s not like he was a dangerous creature in its habitat that would make the late Steve Erwin want to poke it. It was actually a laughing notion; dangerous and Harrison were not made to be in the same sentence. Harrison liked this cafe and only came whenever he’s free after school. Tests and projects were piling up; such as the norm for the last few weeks before winter break. He needed the extra energy boost before he did his ritual all-nighters. The real fun began when he got out the Red Bull. It’s a doozy.
With his mocha in his left hand, Harrison’s feet were on pilot to sit at his usual place near the windows. Harrison was in mid-sip when he spotted a girl at his spot. He froze on the spot; still had his mouth on his cup with a ridiculous expression on his face. “Keep calm, Harrison, “he thought to himself, “Just find another place.” He literally let out a squeak when the girl addressed him and choked a bit on his coffee. Immediately, Harrison was red in the face and his heart fought against his chest.
“O-Oh, no, n-no! I’m sorry!” Harrison stuttered out nervously, wiping stray coffee from his mouth, “I don’t need help. I didn’t mean to stare! I usually sit there, so I was surprised. Of course I don’t own the table and my name’s not on it; so it’s was stupid of me to think that no one would sit there—I’m shutting up now…” He tucked his face in and drank from his cup to avoid looking at the girl. Great; he rambled and why was he not moving? Legs, Harrison, you have them!

Through Misty Eyes | Topher and Vidia
Five days. Five days she waited to hear from Topher. A single text message would have sufficed. At least for another few days. That, sadly, wasn't the case. She had dragged him to the hospital to be evaluated, sat beside him as her stomach ate away at itself, and her father worried over her. With no working cell service at the time, she seemed to put her boyfriend before her father. Maybe it was a mistake. A giant mistake to open up and love someone. He left in the short few minutes she stepped away to go to the powder room, and didn't even so much as tell a nurse to give her a message.
He was currently mute, but it wasn't her fault. There was no reason why he should be punishing her, not checking in and just avoiding her. How old was he? Five? Anger boiled deep within, mixed with sadness and desire. Desire to be loved.
On the sixth day without a single word from Topher, Vidia was ready to snap. She drove over, forcing her judgement to silence and let her go off on a wimp. The likelihood of someone answering the door and actually letting her in was slim. Even if he didn't want to see her, he was going to have to.
Parking a few houses away, she marched up and into the backyard, remembering there was a tree in the back yard, tempting close to Topher's window. She scaled the tree and slowly inched herself out, not daring to look down in hopes to magically "forget" her fear of falling. Damn it, she mentally cursed as she saw a screen on the window. Property damage could be means of a law suit. Even if she hoped it wouldn't come to that. Pissed and feeling at a loss of pride, she knocked on the window and stared down the mopey man laying on the bed.

Vidia smirked rather playfully. It was foolish how fast her heart was racing. She really was out of practice. But Piper was exceptionally beautiful and a smooth flirt. Hilson was too use to people fumbling and failing to reply to her lines. She hated how the tables have turned.
With a few drinks in her system, she knew her confidence would rise. Or maybe it was her better judgement that would be in a haze. Either way, tomorrow night would be fun. And Vidia knew exactly what she was going to wear. "If you really want my company, I don't see how I can deny that." She shrugged simply and walked out of the house, waiting for Piper, then starting for Grannys.
Taking one glance around the street, she looked back to the other beautiful woman. "Quaint little neighborhood."

Vidia drew in a slow, steady breath, counting to ten and exhaling. A simple trick her childhood shrink told her back when she feared the world was out against her. Now she simply knew that idiots would always be trying to ruin her day and test her patience. She glanced over to Topher, brow raised in question before reaching down and shifting into a higher gear. "You better watch that tongue of yours..." she warned him, though it came out much more playful and was joined by a slight smile before she refocused on the road ahead of them. "Why not tell me what you've been up to? Something to hold my interest and keep my blood pressure down?"

Vidia managed a small smile as she looked at the flowers on her wrist. Flowers he didn't feel guilt tripped into getting her, but because he wanted to. She rolled her eyes, unamused and took his hand gently. "Don't talk like that," she told him sternly but with some kindness. She gave him a small smile, one only for him. "We're going to have a wonderful time. And no idiot or simpleton is going to ruin this for us." Gently, she started to lead him towards her car. "Ready as ever. Are you? Don't tell me you're getting cold feet over some small formal party?"

Normally Vidia wouldn't care enough to give someone more than a ten second thought. But this girl seemed... interesting and deeply pained. Something deep in Vidia's cold, protected heart forced her to stop before she could reach her favorite park bench to enjoy her lunch.
Instead, she walked over to the quiet girl and pointed to the empty side of the bench. "Do you mind?" her brow raising a slight degree as she waited for a reply. Strange how a good morning at the office could affect her so greatly.

Okay, so Silena really didn’t give  flying crap. She didn’t even want to wear make-up because her face was sore, and the doctor told her it was best not to; so she looked as rough as anything. A walk around the lake would be nice, to see the animals on the fresh water.
But as the person came by she felt no need to hide her face. Even if it did have yellowish and blue bruises around her eye and cheekbone. Sighing deeply, the young girl crossed her legs and silently watched the ducks swim past her.

High School Farce | OPEN
It was an unusually warm day for late November. Even so, Vidia chose to sit and enjoy the Sun's warmth at a window table at what she believed was the best cafe in town. She sat, contently, with music blasting in her ears as she went over her script, memorizing it bit by bit. Until she felt an intense gaze from someone near by. She turned towards them, taking her ear bud out of her ear. "Yes?" she asked impatiently. "Can I help you?" It took all her will power not to tell them to buzz off, remembering the annoying detail that this was public space.

Holding the length of her dress in one hand, Vidia clicked across the hard wood floor and gently put her hand on her father's forearm before he reached for the front door. The older man's brow quirked, and Vidia easily mirrored it with a small smile. "I got it, Daddy..." she said sweetly. She was, and always would be her father's little angel. At least through his eyes. He was one person that would always refuse to believe the negative opinion about the driven young lady. Mr. Hilson simply kissed his daughter's forehead and walked off, fully believing he would meet this Topher Nottmorr when Vidia felt it was time.
After giving him a quick hug, Vidia pulled open the door once her father had walked off and softly smiled to Topher. She chuckled as he stuttered before rolling her eyes. "Thank you," she gently took the corsage from him, the smile growing brighter on her face before she looked back to him. "You have good taste," she commented before leaning in and kissing his cheek. "However, it's bad luck for the lady to put it on herself." She offered her bare hand and wrist and the corsage, waiting for him to place it on her himself.

Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner || WTSC Grand Ball || Vidia and Topher
Adjusting his tie one final time, Topher swallowed hard, finding the nerves to knock on Vidia’s front door. It wasn’t that he was picking her up for a date, or that he had a problem with being romantic. It obviously wasn’t either of those, seeing as he’d made sure that flowers, chocolate, and a fancy dinner were all part of how he asked her out. He’d even serenaded her a bit at the end of that night. And Topher was ready to be romantic tonight, as well, a corsage held in his free hand, ready to give her. Purple, Vidia’s favorite color, in hopes of matching her dress, which he’d yet to see. But the reason that he was nervous was that he wasn’t sure if it would be his date or her father answering the door, and if it was the latter, who he’d yet to meet, he didn’t want the older man’s judgement affecting the way Vidia saw him.
But luckily for him, when he knocked, the door didn’t open right away, giving him time to straighten his shirt once again, and to take another breathe, before the door swung open, revealing his date behind. “Hey, Vid,” he smiled, speaking softly, mouth going dry as he saw how beautiful she looked in her dress, “You look nice. Great. I mean, beautiful,” he blushed slightly, stuttering over his words as he realized he was staring, and forcing his eyes to the ground, holding out the corsage for her to see, “Really beautiful,” he offered a grin, trying to keep his cool, “I’m jealous, actually.”

She just needed to relax. Flirting never failed her. It was her second nature for Gods' sake! Or... so she thought. Maybe not so much anymore. Or... it just wasn't the case with Piper. You're clearly over thinking it, Hilson. A small sly smirk curled on her lips as Piper winked though. She tried to ignore the dryness in her throat and gently tossed her hair over her shoulder. "I suppose that's a start," she commented with a near devious smile. Mingling, a few drinks... it definitely would be a good start. And depending on what she chose to visit Piper at work in, she may not even go home that night.
Vidia felt a small rush of new confidence. Visiting Underworld was sounding even more appealing. Though it would depend on who's attention she'd attract -- she'd never go with someone over thirty-five, she had her limits -- it would be a compliment none the less. Contrary to what some people believed, you could never be showered in too many compliments. "Pretty sure I'm free tomorrow night. Wouldn't want to get your hopes up for nothing." Truthfully, she was excited to finally go to the Burlesque club, a place she should've looked into immediately after turning 'legal' last November.
