What’s a hickey?

Prompt: Can you imagine Noctis trying to read 50 shades of Grey?

Relationship:  Noctis Lucis Caelum/Reader (Gender neutral)

Word count: 1018

A/N:  Lets just assume this is set post high-school during the years before the main game starts    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯   So this is just a really random drabble on my part (that I want to incorporate into a proper one-shot but my lazy ass wants to sleep) So have this for now!

'... And so he clutched his beloved. His arms secured around her as if protecting her from the dangers from the outdoors. Only the Gods knew the passion they felt for each other. The way her lips moulded into his as she grasped the back of his hair never wanting this feeling to disperse. His lips travelled from hers to her succulent neck. So clean. So soft. He tainted it with hickeys...'

Noctis re-read the line. He tainted it with hickeys. Hickeys? What in six's realm was a hickey?  He scratched his head as he glanced across the table to where his friends were seated. They had been in the library for an hour now accompanying you as you scanned through alchemy journals. The 3 of you had met through Prompto after training one day when Prompto had said he wanted to introduce you to someone. The look on your face as you came face to face with the Prince himself inside a burger joint. He had kept quiet, head down, face concealed by the cap he wore and demeanor as awkward as ever.   However you had tagged with Prompto to rid the awkward atmosphere so you could all have a good time together.   And yet even though the feeling lingered between you 3 on that day, Noctis appreciated the effort you had put in not to treat you as a prince.. but not as a normal citizen either since it would be your job to protect him with your life. You had oddly found the balance to be polite and respectful but still casually chuck some fries into his face.

"Whats a hickey?"

Noctis was not expecting this reaction from the two of you.  Prompto snapped up in shock as he stared at his best friend as though he was wearing a cup noodle hat on his head.  You, however, began to scoff, trying to suppress your laughter behind the book you read.

"Did... Did I ask something wrong?"  Noctis was utterly confused and 100% embarrassed. Why were they reacting like this? It was a simple question.. Right?

"Noct, what on earth are you reading? Gimme that." Prompto reached over as he easily snatched the book off his clueless highness and skimming the pages. You began to skim the page too.

Noctis watched their reactions.  Wide eyes. Peach Cheeks. Mouth agape. He didn't understand why they had reacted this way.  He had just picked any old romance novel off the closest shelf on the way back to his seat.

"Dude.." Prompto began

"Y-yeah, yeah you can explain it to him and i'll read what happens next thanks!" You interrupted him not even a second after he spoke as you slid the book to you and leaning back into your chair. "Oh man.. this is getting good!" You silently cheered as you crossed your legs, your shorts hiking up in the process. A motion Noctis unconsciously caught in the corner of his eyes.

Prompto scoffed as he shoved you playfully however you remained unfazed by the action as you zeroed in to the next line of the novel.

"Well?" Noctis egged, "Whats a hickey?"

Again, You chortled behind a closed book. Noctis rolled his eyes at you and locked eyes with his blonde marksman. He tried his best to look at anything, everything except the curious orbs belonging to his highness.  

"Its.. Uh-its. Oh man don't give me that look," Prompto whined quietly watching Noctis' scowl run deeper. "Its that mark people do .. with other people-but its a good thing!"

"A mark? Then why did it take you that long to tell me? Why did you steal my book? Y/N I'm still reading that." He leaned over the table to grab the book. You hummed avoiding his outstretched limb and keeping your eyes on the book.

"Nuh-uh, They're getting to the juicy bits."

"Perv," Prompto teased yet leaned in to read another little passage or 2.

"Listen," Y/N lowered the book. The twinkle in your [E/C] eyes sparkling brighter as you focused on a confused Noctis and then to still pretty pink Prompto. "I haven't had much action lately, nor had the time for it. So let me delve into this passion for a second more. Noct, where did you find this book? Are there any more like it?"

"In the romance section? I mean it is a romance book from what the synopsis said. Since when did wanting to read a little love story become perverted? What are you two on about?"

Your eyes twinkled mischievously. He had no idea. Prompto caught on, ready to slap himself silly for realising how utterly pure the prince truly is. Lets face it. Even if the prince lived a normal teenage life, he's probably scurried away from every playboy magazine he's come across. Let alone watch the real deal online. The papers would have been filled with the Prince's dirty little secret. But no. He remained faithful to his purity... Until now.  You mentally apologized to Prompto as you slid the book between the three of you.  Your index pointing at the beginning of a passage you wanted them to read.

Now it was your turn to watch Noctis' reaction.  He scanned the words slowly almost as if he wanted to decipher what had caused the sudden reactions the two of you had. He seemed almost bored of reading it. Until he did a double take. Prompto had already finished reading til the end of the page and watched his friend's reaction alongside you.   You both watched as Noctis did a double take, a triple take until you saw his eyes dilute.  You could have sworn you saw his mouth agape for a split second before he had torn himself away from the inner circle and sat properly in his seat. His cheeks as red as Prompto's vest. Safe to say, he never spoke for the remainder of the time there,  Prompto took photos for blackmail and you immersed yourself in this gloriously erotic romance novel.

An erotic romance novel and a pure prince. Never a good match.
