When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music. Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. Thank you to everyone involved and everyone who has watched it!!

really liked katies little star pants so I wanted to incorporate those (even though they aren’t very Lena-esque), and also a little cat if they’re going to go along with the witch storyline
When Kara greets her with a glass of champagne and a brilliant smile, wondering what she could've been doing that was more important than Alex and Kelly's party, Lena tells her that she'd needed to take a minute to clean up everything in the lab.
It's not a lie. She had carefully swept up the remains of the fire from the table. Had stowed the grimoire away, her fingers very precisely and deliberately marking the page and closing the book, her hand pressing down on the leather tome as if it could ground her.
And if she had taken that minute to try and sift through the detritus her spell had wrecked in her chest, well... Kara doesn't need to know that. She doesn't need to know that.... that Lena... that she had held this woman's humanity in her hands as if it were the most precious, sacred thing in the world and held it tight to her chest.
And that's why the spell had worked.
Weeks of stumbling over these newfound, confusing abilities, of constantly doubting herself, of failing again and again when Lena had always prided herself in being exceptional at everything. Hours of frustration and self-admonishment - if only Lena was good enough, she could help her friends; if she was good enough, they wouldn't be one step behind Nyxly.
And this was all it took.
The moment Kara put herself in Lena's hands, there was never any other option. Losing Kara was not - is not - an option.
The clarity that had taken over Lena as she spoke the spell was unlike any other. Such clarity that it turned upon Lena herself a mirror, had revealed to Lena the truth.
"Now I know for sure..."
It almost comes spilling out. Words at the tip of her tongue, heart on her sleeve.
But you can't just tell a woman how you feel. Not like this. Not in the middle of your friends' engagement party. Not when the world is still in need of saving. Not with the taste of champagne bubbles on your tongue from the glass that has this woman's lip print on it because she gave you her glass by mistake. Not when you fit your lips against the ghost of hers on the glass...
"... I really am free of Lex."
It's not a lie. It's a truth that's important enough, precious enough for Lena to share with Kara and know the other woman will understand. It is the truth.
It's just not the only truth she realized tonight.
So... Lena doesn't lie to Kara. Not really.
But she still can't look her in the eye after that.
