Now it’s officially spooky season, I had to finish off a wip I had sitting around. Although to be perfectly honest I only had her horned head and a vague body and just made up the rest on the spot last night lol

The thick metal rings are a vague reference to The Cell and I’d like to think she has the same thing as King Stargher where the metal rings are along her back too, the sheer material is looped through it all around the throne and the walls. For the aesthetic. You don’t have to be practical when you’re the devil.

It had been another long, dull day at the shop, and Alec was splayed over the counter, tracing the patterns in the floor with her eyes, humming some distant tune to herself. At the sound of the shop door opening, Alec lifted her head off the counter to greet her customer. Expecting one of her regulars, she pasted on a commercial smile and raised her hand to wave, but her greeting stalled in her throat as she was instead met with a familiar pair of brown eyes and sly grin.

“Hathe!” Her smile spread into a genuine one, and she practically climbed over the counter to pull the other woman into a warm hug, squeezing her excitedly. “What are you doing here?”

Hathe laughed, squeezing her back. “I wanted to see you!” She planted a quick kiss to Alec’s cheek before holding up two identical leather bags, both tied with black ribbon. “And I brought you a surprise.”

“Ooh,” Alec giggled, reaching out to take one of the bags. “A surprise for me?” She untied the ribbon, setting it on the counter.

“Oh, I wouldn’t open it out here—”

   It was an unusually cold night in the city, and markets were nearly barren. The lushness seen just under a month before began to wilt with the corruption of the cursed red beetles. The people walking around were either plague doctors, magicians, guards, or morticians. All dressed in heavy and dark clothes, despite the weather suggesting it was only the end of summer. Among the people walked Asra and Dr, Devorak, scowering the little nooks and crannies in the city to search for Zenith. Their search bore no fruit or hint to where they had gone.
