At this point I'm just counting the episodes until the Bensler reunion so I haven't had any particularly important thoughts to share for while, but WALLACE SHAWN GUEST STAR IN 20.10!!! It gave me so much joy

As an assault survivor I'm seriously surprised this never happened earlier but maybe it's because I relate to Olivia in some ways? But the William Lewis stuff is near-unwatchable for me. I ended up skipping through some scenes and reading a synopsis because it was just...a lot.

But I'm on Post-Mortem Blues now so hopefully it's finally done?? Watching this season has taken so much out of me mentally but I'm so hooked I need to find out what happens next 😩

Honestly the ridiculous biphobia is something I've experienced as recently as this very pride month though so I wish I could say that we also left that in 2010. (Context: I'm bi and have met wayyy too many biphobic lesbians and gay men. The same crowd tends to also be transphobic. 🤡)

09x09 Paternity got me fucked up in so many ways. I am a Bensler shipper til I die but in my very short time in the fandom I've noticed some paint Kathy as some sort of villain getting in the way of what is meant to be somehow? This episode really made me empathize with her a lot. Literally some of the worst circumstances to give birth in and she DID IT!

Let's be honest with ourselves: Stabler can be kind of a dick. He is a deeply flawed individual who isn't always the best husband, father, cop, or even friend. (Not always the worst one, but not a great one.) He has anger issues and screws up A LOT and honestly his attitude just sucks frequently. I really liked how this episode forced him to confront how he had been neglecting Kathy, and his family by extension, because he was stuck in his own feelings. He let the case get to him and it caused him to lose trust in his wife, and when her life was in danger he finally realized that everything he was worried about didn't really matter anyway.

And I think on the other side he realized that he didn't always appreciate Olivia's friendship enough either, and she literally helped save Kathy's life. THAT HUG AT THE END!!! It was so powerful they didn't need to say anything at all. He LOVES her, there's just more than one kind of love and right now it's not romantic.

At this point in the show, I see no reason to pit Kathy and Olivia against each other. Right now, Elliot should be taking care of his family. I do think there's an added layer of him being Catholic and very resistant to divorce, but even if he were to completely separate from Kathy at this point he would still have a responsibility to his family and I would HATE to see him abandon them. (Not that Olivia would allow that...)

I was a little bit weirded out in season 8 how he Very Quickly had something going with his new partner while very obviously having some unresolved feelings about Olivia, but at the same time I don't think he's ready for her just yet.

But then again, maybe that's why 🤔

I also was a victim myself and never got justice so SVU is a bit cathartic I guess. I have tried to watch some of the other L&O series and I just didn't connect with the characters like I did with the SVU ones. 😩

I made this blog because I started watching SVU initially when I had heard rumors of the 25-year slow burn and needed to be in on the Bensler action just for funsies. Somehow I am far more invested than I wanted to be, and I am tired of keeping it to myself ALSLFJSLALKSHFL

Right now I'm on season 9 but I have been reading a lot of fanfic and don't really care about spoilers for later seasons (I know a lot of what happens with their reunion and all that which is what got me interested in starting from the beginning in the first place!)

Will never reveal my main/identity because frankly I'm embarrassed I care this much about this ship 💀
