While Undertale lives up to its name, being a tale which takes place under a mountain, it’s sibling game, Deltarune, fails to match its namesake. Therefore Undertale is clearly the superior game, since I have yet to be “Dealt” a single “Rune.”

ok so gaster theory/idea I thought of. I’m fairly sure others have probably thought of one thing similar but I have not seen (warning! spoilery + ramblings of someone who’s very tired am bad at formatting their thoughts)

so I just finished my like nth watch of someone’s play through of snow grave route to chapter 4 (if ur interested who, it was penny snapcube), and the final text that comes up where someone goes “halfway mark blah blah my deltarune”. I think most of us have like the idea that this is gaster speaking, and/or is the same person from the vessel maker sequence. And basically it was mentioned that “gaster” doesn’t say anything different if you’ve done snowgrave/weird route.

another thing is the dialogue given when you go back and fight the knight in chapter 3. when you die at the beginning they basically go, ur gonna fail but do u wanna give it another go? and if you die right at the end of the fight they go, wait hold up u were kinda cooking u should try again.

For the sake of simplicity I am gonna call this person gaster, however it’s very much possible this is someone else so this is more so a placeholder name.

basically, I think that gaster has no feelings on whether or not the prophecy is going one way or the other. what I mean is they don’t care to change how the story progresses outside of just wanting to know what would/could happen. very much taking the role that flowey had in ut of wanting to experience all they can, with two key differences.

1. they’re motivated by more “scientific” means than boredom/apathy to their situation

2. they do not possess the means to influence any change to the story

they connect us to the game essentially as their proxy, watching as we go through every choice we can both “good” or “bad”. and i think, ironically, they’ve inserted both themselves and us into the prophecy.

in chapter 4, there’s a somewhat hidden room where the gang can view a prophecy depicting the Angel. We can’t see anything but a black screen, and a lot of people interpret this as us seeing our reflection in the screen and as such meaning we are the angel. with that interpretation in mind, and recalling that part of the prophecy where the angel’s heaven is banished, I think we will be meeting gaster or whoever as the final scene in the game, the “one ending”.

I can’t remember where this is said in the game, or if I’m taking someone’s thoughts and unintentionally canonizing it, but apparently the angel is meant to be like reunited with it’s desire either in their heaven or when they are banished. this is part of my idea so if that’s not actually a thing then whoops lol

anyway, I think gaster is basically going to be like our friend essentially. even if we do everything right, Kris probably won’t like us all too much at best so when we are banished, we’re basically alone. except for gaster, who is eager to meet us, the person who fulfilled their desire to see all they could.

ok I’m done, this is rlly nonsensical so I apologize for that. hopefully I was able to get my point across. this is honestly less of a theory of what i genuinely think happens at the end of the game and more what I think our relationship with gaster is meant to be. okey I’m out

one of my favorite things about deltarune fanart is seeing people’s interpretations of the character sprites, like the armor, especially when it comes to kris’s dark world armor. it’s always very neat, and also everyone makes their boots look so cool
