Completely agree with all of this! I have to say that I personally think it’s a cop out if she ends up undoing all the chaos (if its Francis she marries in episode 13, which it will be, let’s face it) she’s caused with trying to save Francis’ life by marrying Bash. But while I don’t particularly like it, history is on Francis’ side in this matter, however, history also tells us that the marriage doesn’t last long because of his death and the writers can easily do this and have Bash waiting in the wings for them to be together AFTER Francis’ death. However, in saying that, this is the reason I DON’T want Mary to marry Francis…yet. They can’t be so historically accurate to have the marriage but not his death and when or if they do kill him off, which they should because it’d make for some fantastic development in Mary’s character, I really wish they’d have kept the wedding until the finale. I’ll keep my hope up for Mash happening in Season 2 because I don’t see how a few episodes of them being engaged is really “giving their relationship a shot” like I’ve heard the writers claimed they were going to do.

Hi. I was wondering what do you think of the new press release for episode 13? It makes nervous and sad, because it makes it sound like Mary is being forced into marriage with Bash while Francis would be the guy she would be marrying for love and not politics at all. It's like the writers are turning around what was meant to be a political alliance with Francis to something completely else. I just don't like it.

The release was very vague, imo - and definitely open for interpretation. Although, the writer’s have already made the FM relationship into something more than just a political alliance - they have had sex and said I love you, after all. And ofc, Mary wanted to marry Francis, even I can see that. However, in light of the prophecy, everything changed. Bash was there for her and supported her. He was willing to become legitimised for her - something he never wanted.

Mary was being forced into a marriage with Bash in the same way she was being forced into a marriage with Francis, but the similarities end there. I mean, Bash was basically coming into a game that was already over. It was just never going to be as easy for Mash as it was for Frary bc they happened first. So, I never expected a lot, and I’ve been happy with what we’ve gotten so far. I do think that, given time, Mary could’ve definitely fallen for Bash but as history dictates, FM will be married and soon. So, while Mash will probably be put on the back burner for a while, the connection that they’ve built in the last couple of episodes won’t fade. The writer’s didn’t develop them for nothing… our time will come. :)

(I also have a theory that Nostradamus’ vision changes/he lies about it changing bc of pressure from Marie/Francis - so Mary would believe that her marriage to Francis wouldn’t lead to his death anymore, but that’s a whole other can of worms)
