I could fix him. I could make him worse. Good for you. I could gently take the weapon out of his shaking, blood-soaked hand and hold him until he finally believes that he doesn't have to be defined by all the ways the world has hurt him. Then we could ruin the lives of everyone who has ever treated him like he's a monster who doesn't deserve love.

not to be boring but I like when evil characters…. well not become “redeemed,” more like they become domesticated. its just delightful when like an evil monstrous little bastard man goes from committing murder to getting mad someone misplaced their costco card or left the jar of mayo on the counter all day.

I keep seeing people making fun of using growled, hissed, roared, snarled etc in writing and it’s like.
have you never heard someone speak with the gravel in their voice when they get angry? Because that’s what a growl is.
Have you never heard someone sharply whisper something through the thin space of their teeth? Or when your mother sharply told you to stop it in public as a kid when you were acting up/being too loud? Because that’s what a hiss is.
Have you never heard a man get so blackout angry that their voice BOOMS through the house? Because that’s what a roar is.
Have you never seen someone bare their teeth while talking to accentuate their frustration or anger while speaking with a vicious tone? Because that’s what snarling is.
It’s not meant to be a literal animal noise. For the love of god, not every description is literal. I get some people are genuinely confused, but also some of these people are genuinely unimaginative as fuck.

touch starved prompts
dialogue
➼ “Please don’t ever stop touching me.”
➼ “I may have found a new addiction.”
➼ “Your hands are so soft.”
➼ “Do that again. It feels nice.”
➼ “Are you okay? Your face seems a little red.”
➼ “Stop smothering me, you dumbass.” “It’s to make up for the lack of hugs in all these years in your life when I wasn’t there!”
actions
• tensing up under their touch because they’re scared they’ll become too attached to it
• insisting they don’t want B to touch them but B notices the soft curl of A’s lips whenever they do touch them
• intertwining their pinkies as a start to physical contact
• placing a comforting hand on their back whenever they feel nervous or upset
• memorising the little scars on each other’s bodies
• getting used to falling asleep and waking up in each other arms
• the other hugging them suddenly and them freezing, not knowing what to do

also on the topic of magic and physical injury i think that it's really interesting the ways that magical and medical language do and don't intersect. like magic can leave scars and inflict wounds, but magical damage that sickens or alters the body is usually referred to as "corruption" or "transformation" rather than "infection" or "contamination" despite its resemblance in form and function to an infectious substance. it seems to imply a degree of agency on the part of the magic itself, an intent that bacteria and viruses do not possess, whether that be because the magic itself has a will of its own or reflects that of one who wielded it.

i loooooove giving my ocs perpetrator trauma. you hurt people, used and abused and destroyed them, and you will never wash out that stain. you will grow resentful of forgiveness because you refuse to forgive yourself. they don't know what you did like you do. you wear that knowledge like armor, like a sick badge of shameful pride. you can't cut off the hand that struck out and throw it away. you can't pull out your teeth and become something kinder, something more vulnerable.

In a world of super heroes and villains, you are a historian. You are convinced that something is altering time, changing history so that super powered events only happened “a few years ago” when they should be far older.

I haven't abandoned this story. I just put it on the back burner for now. The story is just on a small vacation. It is currently out of office. It can't come to the phone right now. It just fell under my bed to sleep with the monsters. It never left my head. It is everywhere - except on paper.

i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

Nano Day 8
Day 8 and I’m at 18,367. Just sneak attacked @squidlykitten for max damage! She’s the tank though so she’ll be fine. She can easily catch up.
Might post an excerpt from one of my stories. We’ll see though. How are you all doing?

Writing a novel when you imagine all you stories in film format is hard because there’s really no written equivalent of “lens flare” or “slow motion montage backed by Gregorian choir”
