Something Close What happens when a little toad arrives in one of Crowley’s plants and becomes an accidental room mate. What started as a joke about how a creature would react to Crowley at home, namely a toad, which then became my one armed toad Inspector Kemp, some pals of mine encouraged me to flesh this out more into a finished comic.  Watercolors and some white colored pencil

I just can't get over how much respect the narrative gives to Katara and her anger when she confronts Zuko in the catacombs. This is both one of the things that makes their dynamic work so well and one of the things that makes Zuko's redemption work so well.
Redemption is tricky because you have to avoid putting the onus of forgiveness on the victims, and the thing is that by the time Zuko and Katara are forced to share a prison at the end of book two, we WANT to see Zuko be redeemed, we've seen him struggle and we, like Iroh, trust in the good inside him, and we want Katara to recognize the good in Zuko because she is good.
Specifically when Katara starts ranting at Zuko, even though she is in the right and on the right side of the war, our tendency as an audience is to side with him because of the dramatic irony of the scene. We are privy to information about Zuko that Katara is not. That's not to say that she is wrong to immediately be suspicious of Zuko and to call him out for everything his nation and father and he himself has done, she just doesn't have all the facts. She thinks Zuko was put there as a trap to trick her because she doesn't know that he was arrested by Azula. Especially when she brings up his father and says that "spreading war and hatred is in your blood," it contrasts with what WE the audience know about Zuko's family and his relationship with his father.
So this puts Katara in a little bit of an unfair position as far as gaining audience sympathy. When Zuko says she doesn't know what she's talking about, she really doesn't. And a lot of shows would have had this be the point where Katara is forced to see things from Zuko's perspective.
But Katara is stubborn and righteously angry and the narrative lets her be that without villainizing her, and reminds us that Zuko's suffering and his struggle with his family does not negate her very real pain.
And Zuko apologizes. He apologizes. He recognizes something in her that is like him, too, and that's important, but it's even more important that he apologizes because the audience didn't need for him to do that, but Katara did, and it shows how much the writers respected her as a character.

seeing fictional characters 👀
Honestly as a blind person I’m so tired of seeing fictional blind characters who don’t use white canes or other guides. “They have special powers so they know what’s around them” or “they’re confident enough to not need a guide” are common tropes, and I’m tired.
Are people scared that using a white cane will make their blind character seem weak? They can’t use a cane because they’re so special that they already know what’s around them, and other blind people who use guides are inferior because they’re not special?
I’m tired. Give your blind characters white canes and other guides. Let them hold onto their friends, let them have guide dogs. Don’t make white cane users feel ostracized for not being “strong enough” to go without.
Another thing that pisses me off is when a sighted character comes up with the fantasy equivalent of braille and teaches it to the blind character. Braille was invented by Louis Braille, a blind man, in 1824. The blind character should be the one coming up with it.
Tldr I’m blind and tired of sighted people lol

I think space bees would be sexy
honeymoon is an interesting term because an actual moon made of honey would imply space bees which is pretty horrifying

my headcanon is that anyone could bend but some people are naturally more in touch with their chi and more easily attach themselves to knowing they can bend.
if that doesn't fly my second equally plausible headcanon is that those who were taught by the giant animals, could already bend (already had it in them) and those animals sought them out to teach them to teach others
either way I believe those that can't bend at least in part can't bend because they don't believe in it e.g sokka turns his nose to all spirit world/magic stuff that happens so his chances of learning are astronomically low
ok so, for the record, couldn’t anyone learn to be a bender in the Avatar universe- considering the first benders learned from copying natural phenomena? like everyone’s got to have a little bending in their dna just by default, so with enough work and time hypothetically anyone could bend

So, let me just talk about intrusive thoughts for a moment here.
Intrusive thoughts are common with OCD and quite possibly other mental illnesses. They can be sexual thoughts with an inappropriate target (relatives, children, animals), they can be violent thoughts (about doing something that will harm you or others), they can be racist/homophobic/etc.
They do not mean that the person secretly likes or agrees with whatever the intrusive thought is about. It does not mean that they actually like or agree with these things on some subconscious level. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Intrusive thoughts are always about something that the person fears, hates, or disagrees with.
The entire reason they’re considered part of a disorder is because they are distressing by their very nature. The brain takes the things that you never ever in a million years want to think about, the things you hate or fear or disagree with, and forces them to the front of your mind.
And the best part is, the more you try to block it out, the more it gets pushed into the forefront of your mind. The best method of dealing with intrusive thoughts is to acknowledge them, remind yourself that these thoughts do not mean you are a bad person or that you ‘deep down’ really feel this way, and then move on once you’ve processed the intrusive thought.
So to everyone who deals with intrusive thoughts: You are not a bad person. In fact, the fact that these thoughts are distressing to you says the exact opposite.
