Fuck
I just accidentally a song.

"Uninspired" is a demo of an old song I'd abandoned but couldn't really remove from my mind. Often I'd find myself humming the drone and thinking of lead guitar parts. That was the hardest part was trying to figure out the lead. Now I think I've nailed it, or at least the opening, and future versions will probably get louder. In the full version I want to experiment with the loud/soft side of post-rock; distortion, walls of sound, tremolo picking and all that. Hopefully I'll get off my lazy ass and fully finish this song once and for all.

So I went and bought a cello bow, and at first I was worried that I was over my head with this style of guitar playing, but I quickly learned the technique and recorded a little improvisation. I'd say its a massive improvement over the homemade bow.

This is the result of the bowed guitar that I played with my homemade bow. Imagine that with a longer, professionally made bow, which means more sustain and perhaps a better end result.

Channeled my inner Jónsi by crafting a bow out of some found plastic streamer which I then hand wound and tied/taped to a stick I just found. Played on my guitar and created some very interesting noises which is now prompting me to want to actually buy a professionally made cello/violin bow. Also on the topic of bowed instruments, the "Spike Fiddle" is a very interesting sounding instrument, and can be homemade. Next project perhaps? :P

I need to research mastering
I had a good thing going with a deep bass synth and bass guitar, but the bass kept overtaking the synth in volume. I couldn't find a good balance.

I'm going to attempt to write in a minimalist style, use a limited amount of chords/notes per instrument and layer each one to do add to the song in a different way. Trouble with working solo is you can't bounce riffs off someone, you have to just create it all in your head and hope that it sounds good when you play it. (often it doesn't)
