Week 12 (The End)
As we reach the end of the semester unfortunately the end of this class has also come to the end. Looking back to the first time I came to the class I had experienced many emotions regarding this class, whether it was STRESS, enjoinments, or even laughter. I also have learned many new skills and experiments. I also learned how to look into the future, and learn more from the past. I also learned how lucky we are to live in a society where we have more opportunities than our parents. This class has taught me how to be more confident with my ideas, and showed me that being creative is the greatest gift someone could have. After all, all the successful people were creative. For example Steve Jobs. I'm 100% sure that Steve Jobs had to be creative in order to believe in something no one else had believed in. I also learned how there really isn't anything called a bad idea. With all the new experiences and skills I accumulated I would simply take them into a different environment. This class also taught me how to cooperate more efficiently with my teammates. I also learned how to create more prototypes therefore who knows maybe I can be the next Steve Jobs (probably not)
With all these new skills and knowledge I acquired I have widened my horizon. I can certainly improve on the other subjects based on what I have learned from this class. For example, since I couldn't attend some of this course class I learned that by reading some of the conted that I could find on the blackboard I could at least get an idea about what I need to do. For this class I was really happy with my group, this is because we all had each other back. For example if one missed a class the other teammates would tell him what happened and what he needs to do. We also all did our work without complaining. I could truly depend on my teammates to do their part which is truly the best thing there is.

Week 11
For this week I shifted my attention more to making sure that our 90-sec video was refined according to the teacher slide 4 had too many words in it, therefore, it looked like one of my group members copied and paste the information they got from the website. Therefore I had to rewrite this part and see if there is anything else that needs to be written. The reason why I started to focus more on this part is that on the group chat we all had to split our parts so it’ll be easier to finish this project, therefore, one of my group members and I had to refine and edit the 90-sec video. After finishing the 90-sec video I started to add my prototype to the website as the teacher instructed me last week by my teacher. At first, I was confused about where I can put my part but luckily my group members did their part and instructed where we should put our prototype as we had our own section. Later on, I found out that I cant put in my prototype because apparently, only one person at a time could access the website so I decided to wait an hour before putting in my prototype. After an hour I finally put my part of the prototype on the website. Later on, I had to introduce my new game show, how to enter and what the show is about. After adding my prototype and showing my teacher, she asked me to fix minor mistakes so that our website wouldn’t be talking about the future rather than the year 2021 we should represent it so that it’ll look like we are in the year 2051. Overall I had fun making the website and inventing a new prototype in this class.

Week 10
For this week’s class, my group and I decided that we should spend some more time on our group project, mostly because there was a lot of work that we still haven’t started therefore we all decided to start a group video on Messenger. After being informed by our teacher that our “What If” scenario wasn’t clear enough, we decided that our new what-if scenario would be what if, by the year 2051, New Zealand waterway becomes too toxic and could probably impact us in our daily lives? What would those results look like? For this week as a group decided to focus more on our prototype individually, therefore I decided to research and gather photos to put in in Wix. By the end of the day, I had completed my prototype which was the game show. Because there weren’t any specific ways I could make my game show using a mood board I decided to explain more deeply in Miro so that the teacher could understand it better during my class. While I was listening to the feedback from the teacher I was informed that my idea was great I just had to explain to her how it connects with the other prototype from my group. As I explained to her how this game show would be aired using the government website, she seemed to be really supportive of my idea and how I don’t need to add anything other than add my prototype to the website. I was really happy that my prototype was approved by my teacher, it really shows that I was on the right track. I truly believe that this was because of my previous group chat that I had attended the day before my class.

Week 9
For this week I couldn’t come to class because of an issue I had with my wifi luckily one of my group members had gone to class and informed me of what I have to do for this weekly class. She told me that for this week we had to create mood boards for our prototype and getting an idea about how my draft would look like for next week’s class. Even though at the beginning I was pretty confused and since I had other assessments from other classes and work the next day I felt that I had a huge amount of work, however, I knew that there isn’t any help coming from stressing so I just continued to do my work. Luckily as I continued to do my work that feeling just faded away. While I was creating my mood board I had a few insights into how my game competition should look like unfortunately there weren’t any photos that I wanted to present for my part in this group project so I decided to get any photos that would be the closest to the images I wanted. As I went to google so that I can continue my research on how many, people in NZ watch game shows in order to determine whether my idea would be successful. I was surprised to see 95% (1,725,000) of New Zealanders have a TV in their home and about 89% of all linear television content is viewed live, on the large screen. And TV advertising is 100% visible, 100% of the time, driving more overall attention. Based on all the information I gather I came to the conclusion that my show would be at least 90% successful if I were to make this game show.

Week 8
In this week’s class, I didn’t come to class because I had to get tested for Covid 19 which was really annoying because I really wanted to attend class. As I got home I was pretty lost on what I should do for the group work so after quick research using my Aut emails and messenger to see what I had to do, I discovered that we had to set a Wix website and complete some of the tasks that were on Trello that were allocated to each of us by the teacher in order to complete our group project. Once everyone knew what they had to do this assessment became so much easier and clearer. This allowed everyone to do their part of the group project and thanks to Covid 19 each one of us had a lot of time to complete their own part of the project. As we began to start our project we each had to look at the “What If” scenario and I added some of my own ideas to our what-if scenario. The reason why I added my own scenario is that even if Covid 19 made me feel a bit lazy I still understood that in order to pass this assessment every member f our group had to contribute and do some work therefore regardless of how I felt I still knew that I had to contribute to our project. While completing this task, I had understood this issue (water pollution) more deeply, and got me thinking about some of the few prototypes that I could do to contribute to the project. After a while, I knew about the problem with people nowadays watching too much TV. Therefore I thought it would be a good idea to make a prototype about how we can make a government tv show about people winning a prize after reducing water pollution.

Week 7 Group work
After resting for 2 weeks we returned to an online class. It was really fun to attend class using my laptop. I usually love group work because it allows me to get to know different people from different cultures and work together so that we can pass an assignment. This week’s class helped me to understand what we had to do for the group work and how we had to make a prototype so that we can put it in Trello. As a class, we discussed how we each had to make a prototype so that we can all contribute to our group work. Our group assessment had to show how water pollution is going to affect us in the year 2051. Since in week 3 of our class, my group and I discussed how we going to focus on water pollution therefore for this assessment we had to explain fully the effect of water pollution and how it’s going to affect us in the year 2051. As for this week’s class, we specifically had to learn all about speculative design. Even though I had no idea what that was at the beginning of the class nor what it does, later on, I learned that using “Speculative design” could help me/us develop ideas for a better future. This interesting design (Speculative design), it could allow for creative ideas and different views that we see within our world and some of the wicket problems that we are facing. As the class continues I learned some of the most basic concepts that are related to design fiction. An example of this is that design fiction is all about using objects to tell the future. In my point of view, I have no idea why didn’t the ministry of education introduces this topic in high schools. After all, using this concept to determine a better future should be one of the most important things to learn at an early age so that the younger generation could have a good mindset about their future.

Week 6
For this week unfortunately we were in lockdown level 4. Even though I was so grateful for this to happen at the beginning mostly because my AUT workload and my job has become really stressful to the point where some nights I don't sleep even if I was really tired because I'd either be working or studying. So when I heard that we were in lockdown I slept for a whole day which was the best day of my life. For this week's class we had to present our presentation in front of the class which got me nervous because I was so tired so when I heard we only had to submit it through padlets I felt a bit relieved.
For this week we had to watch a short clip which talked about design. With this clip I learned exactly how important it is to be creative nowadays especially when people rely a lot on machines. This question suddenly popped into my head which was if machines can do things better than humans, what exactly can we do that a machine can't? The answer was to be creative. Which made me strongly believe that in the future humans are going to want a different type of skills when applying for a job, which is how creative you can be since machines can do your job better than you no matter how much effort you put into your job. This week made me realize that creativity is the most important aspect a man/woman can have. It made me a little bit angry because we learned to surprise our creativity as children and follow the same concepts as everyone else. It also taught me that in college and high-school, school made us as humans in general have no creativity whatsoever. Which is also why I love AUT and creativity thinking class so much because the teacher grades our assignments based on how much creativity we put rather than thinking that the teacher is always right and the students have to follow the same concept in order to succeed in their class.

Week 5
This week we focused more on our 90 sec group presentation which we had to animated. As a group we worked really well together since there were only three of us that were in class each person took the initiative to show how water pollution happened in NZ one had the task of researching what would happen in the future if water pollution kept getting worse, another one had to research the present which was what is happening to NZ in the moment and another person (me) had to research how water pollution occurred in NZ in the first place. A key site that helped me understand how water pollution occurred was
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-16/new-zealand-rivers-pollution-100-per-cent-pure/13236174
Some of the facts that we found as a group was 76 percent indigenous freshwater fish species (39 of 51) are threatened with extinction or at risk of becoming threatened
Currently in New Zealand we are facing increasing levels of water pollution as an effect of poor farming practices. After me and my group decided to add all this information into canvas we were very glad yet sad at the Same time. The reason behind this was because many fishes are suffering because of human decisions, yet as a group we were one step closer to finishing our presentation which was why I was glad. This lecture truly made me reconsider my decision from now on how my actions are affecting everything and everyone around me. I feel like this is a wake up call for anyone who doesn't care about our planet. To those people I only say "WAKE UP"

Week 4
Tumblr media
In week 4 we dived in our group research which was climate change. Since climate change is such a huge and broad topic we decided since last week to focus more on water pollution. The reason behind this is that everything on our planet needs water to survive and since many of our rivers and some parts of our oceans were contaminated we decided to focus more on water pollution.
We explored how water pollution was affecting our planet, how many living things were affected by this and how it started in the first place. Since our main goal wasn't the entire world but it was in NZ so we decided to focus more on what's happening in NZ and how water pollution was affecting the country by viewing different reliable sites. Even though I knew water pollution was a horrible tragic situation our country is facing, the results that I found could only be described as shocking. For example, even though you might know this, I never knew that a piece of plastic takes thousands of years to decompress. This got me thinking, if it's this big of a problem with NZ then what about the world? I keep thinking it must be 100 times worse for the rest of the planet and why didn't we try to fix or help reduce this problem earlier. Some sites that I.found the most helpful are.

https://i.stuff.co.nz/environment/109701626/water-pollution-the-number-one-concern-for-new-zealanders-in-new-poll
Even though for this week there weren't that many people this allowed me and my group members to work more efficiently and find more data. This week's class not only helped me to see how bad our planet actually is, but also it helped me focus more on our group research. Another thing I learned in this week's lecture that I'll always remember is that we must take care of our planet more efficiently. After all, we only have planet earth and we need to take care of it as much as it has taken care of all of us. This week lecturer really opened my eyes to see how we treated our planet.

The Future
This week we started the class with a really fun quiz. The aim of this quiz was to check your assumptions. Even though I was late, the class atmosphere was vibrant and fun. As time went on I also participated in the quiz even though I hesitated at the beginning. The thing that shocked me was that when I knew the answer I didn't put my hands up to answer the question, but when I put my hands up to answer the question I got it wrong. It was really funny to me personally so I couldn't help but smile throughout the entire class. I found it interesting how I assumed things were worse in our world then what it is. This reminds me of another class statement that I had which was that our brain only goes through the worst possible scenario rather than the good one. It would take 5 bad ideas or bad things that happened to you in order to be equal to 1 good scenario. Our mind process is really interesting. Another fun activity that we did was the future food activity. It's an exercise that helps you think about the future, present and the past. For example, we discussed in our groups that in the next 50 years because of global warming we might have no access to the foods we have now, maybe we would be eating cockroaches or insects for us to survive. We also explained how in the past my family did not as many foods from around the world as we do right now fie example, we can order sushi, noodles or even subway but back then if we ever needed food we had to make from scratch. We also discussed our upcoming projects for this class and picked climate change, water pollution, and air pollution. These two exercises that we did have made me think more deeply about our future, it also helped me realize some facts that I haven't considered before because it was always it's always at my disposal. It also taught me that I should cherish my moments in the present more than focusing on the unknown future. It also reminded me with a quote that I started to understand which was "you can't appreciate the value of something until it's missing."

At the beginning of this semester, I was always curious as to why I chose Design storytelling as a Minor because if you were studying at AUT you can see how many papers that this university has, but out of all the papers that I could have taken I chose design storytelling. In the beginning, I was really confused, but as I saw the weekly slides that this paper created I knew how creative the slides were, not only creative but also it is such a fun subject. For example in the first week that I went to I learned how much stories change our brain. I learned that stories shape our brain and develop it. For example, when we were children and our parents told us bedtime stories, these stories not only taught us valuable lessons but also taught us about what we can do. Another example is that I believe that when we were born we didn't know what is good and bad in the world but as we grow up and we learn stories we get a glimpse of what we absolutely can not do and what we can do. This is all thanks to stories which is why it's such an important aspect of our lives. Another reason why I was drawn to design storytelling papers is that this class does not only revolve around the past, but also it revolves around the future. It's about what we do at this moment that affects our future and what we learned this moment that we can use in the future. In design storytelling I have also learned that stories stimulate our emotions, we build relationships and connections, and also it motivates behavioural change. Personally, I believe the power of stories can shape the mindset of our children in the future.

The curious camera
Even though I didn't come to class because I didn't even sign up for it yet, based on the video that I have watched explained something very important. The video taught me that reflective writing isn't just about looking into past events and learning from them, but it is also as important to look at the future and try to apply whatever lessons I have learned. It's a three-step process, which is looking back, analysing and projecting the future. Even though I had no clue at the beginning what reflective writing was, now I am starting to see exactly what reflective writing is and how important it is. To be honest, I was worried and confused about this specific subject since it is the first time I had ever done this, but now I'm comfortable writing about reflective writing. reflective writing helps me to learn and comprehend further information than I had in class and it could help me build a better perspective on subjects in the future.
READINGS 1
In the article titled the curious camera, it explores how observation is ethnographic
an important method which I completely agree with. For example, if you can't observe when and where is the best angle to take a photo, the photo obviously wouldn't be better than a man/woman who observed the best angle to take a photo. I believe that with observation comes patience, if you're not patient enough you wouldn't make the best photo at the perfect time, but if you were to take a photo at the perfect time and the best angle. In the future, if I ever were to take a photo with my camera I would have to not only be patient but also observe what is the best angle to take the perfect photo which would personally put me in a good mood and get me excited. There was a quote that I loved reading which was that photographs have plenty to tell us about the world. This quote I loved because photos give us so many feelings and words that we just can't say to each other which is kind of sad in my opinion.
