How’s it been adjusting from being in a wealthy household and having maids and cooks… to living off a minimum wage income and suddenly having to do everything by yourself? I know my first attempts at cooking and laundry… didn’t exactly go great, haha

I’ve been alright. I’ve been crazy busy lately between dealing with corporate bullcrap at Sugarman West, raising Bojack, catching up with friends, and working on my hobbies/independent projects. But I’ve been good. Celebrated Father’s Day this weekend with Bojack. That was swell ☺️

I hope you’ve been taking care of yourself. Have you made any friends? Perhaps at or near your apartment building, or at your job? Community is important!

I remember my verison of you complaining that you had trouble getting BoJack to calm down when he was an infant sometimes…

A few tips! If trying to feed him, change him, burp him, etc, fails to get him to stop crying…

Rry making silly faces at him, or singing! Babies also like being bounced sometimes.

Also, sometimes babies simply want to be held.

If nothing works, well, I think sometimes babies simply need to cry themselves out a bit. I imagine going from the womb and being surrounded by comfort, to being out in the world, is a pretty difficult adjustment! Remember that babies are tiny little guys that have no idea what’s going on, and the only way they have to communicate or express discomfort is by crying. I know it can be pretty frustrating, but please try to be patient. Babies aren’t trying to be difficult, they simply are very needy and have no good way to express themselves. Remember that a baby is entirely reliant on you, and you’re his whole world!

Sooo @drchamp even if you’re not a licensed therapist or anything… there must be a few things you know about the mental health field, right? I mean. I’m not expecting a ton here but there are a couple questions…

Um. Basically I wanted to ask if the mental health field has improved. I mean, it’s improved in my life time, doctors used to give lobotomies, for crying out loud, and they don’t do that anymore! Anyway, I hope it has continued to improve since the 70s…

He’s an absolute sweetheart. Very obedient, well behaved kid. Pretty jumpy though. I’ve been trying to build his confidence, he’s pretty insecure. Sometimes I worry he’d too obedient. I hope he feels safe around me…

His parents drilled into his head that he was a burden. I’ve been telling him that’s not true, but I don’t know if it’s sticking.

He’s a really good kid, and tries to be good all the time. I hope he knows I’ll still love him even if he’s not perfectly good 24/7.

I make sure to be silly around him (not hard, considering I’m a silly person!) I feel like he needs that in his life, with the way his parents were…

He’s such a bright kid, and he’s got such a bright future ahead of him… I hope. I hope he won’t fall into the same pitfalls as his mother. I’ve removed every trace of alcohol from the house.

Thanks, that’s the plan! Little Bojack is the best thing to ever happen to me! Raising him as been such a joy, even though I wish I had acquired him though better circumstances

Sometimes I worry I might not be doing enough to help him overcome his trauma, though. He still flinches sometimes…
