EXCLUSIVE INSIGHT IN TO; MINI THE MAKING X DECREE
As many of you know we have been working with MINI Cooper on a editorial which would see us transforming the ultimate urban car the Paceman . When we was first approached by MINI with the opportunity we were very excited to say the least as MINI Cooper is a iconic brand that is synonymous with British style and culture. So when we found out we would have the chance to transform our very own MINI we were all smiles.
The next thing we did as a team was to have a brain storm on some ideas on how we can change the car, we had a number of weird and hyperbolic ideas that went as far putting 1930′s style fog lights on the top! Glad to say that idea didn’t go much further, however we did decide that we wanted to design the interior in a way that compliment the already beautiful exterior. We wanted to celebrate MINI excellence and their contribution to British style so we wanted the car to be sophisticated, bright and spacious, consequently we decided to change the trim of the MINI doors, along with the dashboard and various design accents through out.
Once we knew what we wanted to do we went down to Fully Loaded Cars who specialise in custom car work and have made custom designed cars from scratch so we were definitely in the right hands. We told Marco (The owner) about our ideas and the way we want people to feel when they see the car. We then started talking about what colour we would like to change the interior trim to, we had initially said Plain Gold but Marco suggested we choose a special chameleon gold which would change colours depending on the lighting environment, It was important also because we thought brightening up the interior would not only look good but would also make the MINI seem more spacious, bright and masculine.
We think the finished article is more refined but still edgy and eye catching enough to capture someone’s attention as soon as they see it. In addition The use of the chameleon Gold did what we intended as it did create a feeling of more space inside the car.
Finally we as team would like to say we had a lot of fun on this Editorial and it was a honor to work with such a iconic British brand and we would like to thank MINI Cooper for the opportunity.
