He's got a deep purple diamond-shaped pendant on a gold chain and learned a little about hypnotic suggestion from a friend he used to have. At first it's just making sure she doesn't remember working for him, but then it became an easy way to keep her around and more willing to spend time with him. It works best when she's on his lap and he admittedly enjoys that very much.
She's a point of fixation for him and it makes her much easier to keep near him.
