Nagi’s response got a somewhat similar reaction from Neku, her scream triggering his fight or flight, as he jumped back a bit, moving as if to prepare to fight back until the young woman spoke again, bringing him back to reality. Truthfully, he hadn’t been trying to reprimand her in any sort of way. To him, it’d just been a blunt observation- his way of asking what she was up to without using those exact words, not that he thought she was up to anything nefarious, of course. He hadn’t known her very long, but he could tell that her Soul was genuine.

He offered her an awkward, apologetic smile, his own anxiousness showing as he awkwardly rubbed at his opposite shoulder.

“Sorry. I wasn’t trying to freak you out. And just Neku is fine, really. I’m not all that special…” Besides, wasn’t Nagi older than him? He thought he’d overheard Rindo and Fret talking about how she was in college despite her youthful appearance. “…do you want some help carrying them over?” He couldn’t help but offer his help after he’d spooked her like that. Besides, it was an incredibly nice gesture. Nagi really cared about her friends. It really showed in her actions, and Neku could really appreciate that about her.

          { 潜る } ❝ you needn’t apologize. you merely inquired into my actions, twas i who startled you in turn. forgive me for being so... jumpy. ❞

as she collects all the bottles back into her arms, taking care to make sure they were all as balanced and secure as they could possibly be in her scrawny hold, she turned her attention back towards neku once more.

❝ well, i certainly wouldn’t be adverse to the help, should you be offering it. i would simply place all the bottles into my backpack and transport them that way, but, well... said backpack’s storage space is currently being used for more important matters. ❞

as in, her backpack was stuffed practically to bursting with elestra merch, and she wasn’t about to remove even a single pin from inside. she needed to keep such important valuables safe, after all.

handing off a couple of the bottles to neku, nagi let a small smile form on her face.

             { 潜る } the noise that comes out of her phone as the gifts are added to her account makes her jump in surprise for a moment, and the thoughts suddenly filling her mind only add to the shock.

of course, she knew there was only one man she had met in her travels that would be capable of doing something like this.

while she wasn't exactly sure, she knew it was worth a shot, so as she began to use the first of her new vast pool of pull tickets, she focused her thoughts on a single message.

🎁 + It's a small bag of pins that's wrapped neatly in cute Christmas foil, a note attached to it. y = ln ( x/m - sa ) / r². Maybe Shoka had a hand in making him do something nice, maybe not. He isn't even there to hand it to her personally, it's left outside her dorm.

something that was easy to deduce considering the note attached was a mathematical equation, and nobody else she knew would write down a complex equation such as that rather than just writing words like a normal person.

math was never quite her strong suit, but she eventually managed to decode what the equation was meant to say, and it only sent her even further through the moon.

❝ to receive such kind holiday wishes from lord tomonami...! i must be the most blessed woman alive! i must thank him properly when next our paths meet... ❞

slowly undoing the wrapping, taking extra care not to rip it so that it could be saved and preserved, she looked down at all the pins that were inside. most of them were pretty common pins, and thus ones she already had. but these ones were special...!

nagi takes the plush and sticks it in her backpack, keeping the zippers unzipped enough for the head of the plush to stick out of the top comfortably.

afterwards, she takes the candy that was also part of the gift, popping some of it in her mouth before placing the rest in her bag as well for later.

nagi barely had the time to finish her thought before her brain began to kick into overdrive, and she quickly began to pull each pin out of the box one by one to inspect them.

there was no doubt about it... these were extremely rare elestra pins! even for all her thorough and frantic collecting, there were pins in here she had never been able to obtain (though not for lack of trying)! this... this was unbelievable!

did the other girl just not know what she had? any elestra fan would die to have some of these, and here they were, being presented to her so casually!

❝ you... you would relinquish these all into my possession? truly? are you aware of just how valuable... how RARE this pins are?! this... collecting all of these is no small feat! to see them all in one location like this... i never thought the day would arrive! ❞
