I remembered what I said before.
Jing deserves Xiaoyao, but Xiangliu deserves Wen Xiaoliu.
And it’s true.

I’m glad I watched One And Only first before Lost You Forever.
Now I know what crying due to devastation looks like.
To hear how someone you cared for died.

Yup, I’m officially done with Lost You Forever. Done as in, I’m just sick of the fan war going on lol. I was in the past, thought of XL and XY have feelings for each other. And my opinions about TSJ is the same.
However, early this year I’m officially out of this madness and thankfully had shows that instantly replaced LYF with something else. Now reading comments from MDL, I’m like gosh, still not end? I’m still watching the show as per normal, now at ep5. What I’m feeling as I watch? Nothing, dead inside. I admit XL scenes were the better ones. I’m not even expecting anything from this show. Looking forward to XL’s end. Yup.
I’m now waiting for…. Love for Nirvana. Lol.

I just want to say even though I watched most of his dramas doesn’t make me a fan.
I was intrigued by the different characters he did and although I praise his ability to understand his character deep enough, he also have his weaknesses which I truly want him to improve. And this particular weakness is glaring and greatly affect his acting ability.
People say he have one expression when act but I would say depends on what kind of character he’s playing.
Why I avoid TYFY?
It’s that drama where all aspects fell apart. Why would I waste my time watching crumbs?
Instead of I’m being a fan of certain celebrities, I prefer to be a fan of characters. Save me all the dilemmas of needing to watch an actor work that I’ve never invested in.

I have to say when I rewatched One and Only for the second time, it hits badly. WORSE than first time.
Everything about Zhousheng Chen and Shiyi became more clear, sad and pain.
Shiyi’s courage, her understanding towards his words and actions. And eventually her pain. Everything just magnified.
And lastly, those tiny expressions on his face. Now that I rewatch, his eyes held so much restraint, love, regret and so on. During this second watch, I felt so much for Zhousheng Chen. His feelings were more internalized, which was even more heartbreaking. I felt he have so much to say but nothing came out from his mouth.
Someone pointed out after the death of his brother, he lost the smile (remember the smile he had after the war? Only to receive edict about the emperor’s demise) and since then he became inexpressive. And after so long of being alone and lonely, came a girl who understand him deep down, he gain a friend, a confidant and eventually turn into love.
There were so many 意难平 in this show. When I said many, it is and all are heartbreaking af.
Also this show have so many 名场面 and definitely will go down as one of the classics. It’s already rank as top 5 saddest cdramas.
As much I appreciate Bailu’s crying scenes in here, I have so much praise for Ren Jialun’s interpretation of Zhousheng Chen. It’s really his best performance up to date.

Interestingly, watched a snippet of Chao ge’s interview (I think during Blue Whisper promo)
He touched on why he likes 虐 instead of HE because it’s more memorable and leave a deep impression. For HE, he’s unable to grasp the reasons behind main leads falling in love randomly etc.
From here can see he’s more of logical person. XxTx and given how detailed he would be in all his roles, def a xxTJ. How he’s more of expressing his thoughts then internalizing it, he’s XSTJ.
Then this is the funny part. In recent burning flames interview with all the cast, the host ask if all are i人(meaning introverts), everyone agrees.
So initially I thought he’s an ISTJ.
But his personality is more outgoing. And I read somewhere he’s an e人 and the first letter in mbti is always the trickiest.
I used to think Zeng shunxi was ENFP. But he’s an INFP.
Baili herself said she’s ENTJ, then I read a post in wb, she’s ENFJ.
It’s weird.

I think I’ve finally found the answer to why I’m able to binge Ren Jialun’s dramas despite some were satisfactory.
It was the characters he took up from these dramas that kind of differentiate him from other actors.
Firstly, the characters he did were of various backgrounds and settings. Emperor, general, a guard, a chemistry professor, an architect, crown Prince, scriptwriter etc…
And most of his characters he chose more towards 虐 compared to those brighter characters he did. I rmbr he said the more 虐 it’s more memorable. Even his currently filming drama, is too 虐 for me too handle.
And from what I’ve seen, he got a good understanding of his characters he did, even those that we thought wasn’t but indeed was (recalled he said modern Zhousheng Chen is more 虐 than ancient one)
And his face grew on me with each drama. But to say I’m his fan, not yet. Or perhaps, I’m a fan of his characters than the actor himself.
It just that I felt it’s weird that as I go back to his older dramas, he was much better and more in control compared to now (Burning Flames, I’m looking at you.)
Im looking forward to more stable acting from him and Chao ge, I know you’re busy but when you have time, go and practise your line dubbing. Go and learn under Bian Jiang.

After some time, some of the above points I beg to differ. There’s something about the modern Zhousheng Chen I adore.
What are the things I would change in #ForeverAndEver #一生一世
No need Zhousheng Chen’s complicated family
Change his name to Zhou Shengchen instead of his former name. The past Zhousheng Chen is without any heir or family.
Show more about his inner character. Since I don’t read the book and based on both dramas. The inner beauty of past and present Zhousheng Chen, that shiyi loves.
Honestly, for Mei Xing, his storyline was acceptable. But I feel the other CPs that didn’t end up together, the show should delve into their happy endings too.
Without the historical things surrounding Zhousheng Chen, him being a smart kid with high IQ, know about historical facts and about the past Zhousheng Chen.
If Mei Xing was Liu Zixing’s reincarnation, who is Wenchuan then? I feel his character here wasn’t needed and this drama is perfect show for healing from One And Only’s tragedy.
Since he died of injustice in the past, Zhou Shengchen, as a professor, now, perhaps can make his country proud due to his contributions.

I have never binge watch any actors works as many as this guy here and I myself don’t know why.
Before this Ren Jialun was one of those actors I tend to avoid his works. First, his stylings was one of the worst and unappealing. Second, he don’t give me a good first visual impression. I don’t understand what’s good about him.
I recalled a moment (around 2022-2023) I tapped into “Thousands Years for you” in iqiyi app. Five minutes in, and I instantly exited the drama. I thought xianxia meet republican era sounds intriguing but once I saw his face, I was instantly turned off. Nothing personal but I guessed something about his frown that annoys me.
A month ago, I randomly clicked into “Burning Flames” and surprisingly finished the whole show. Not because of him. But the storyline was good enough to keep me occupied.
Honestly, in that show, there so many things I got so annoyed about him and his character. For first time, I don’t feel satisfied at all. It frustrated me so much. People say he’s good and have good crying scenes but in that show, he just so off. Everything about his character was not working out. And I don’t see his tears falling down. I was like, “okay. How can I justify this? I don’t want to criticise further.”
That’s how I ended up watching One And Only.
Which made me go through a 360 degree of confusion, did I just watch the same guy? Did I just watch the same freaking guy??
Then I proceed to watch Forever And Ever. His real voice is so airy. It does not help that it reminded me of his lines delivery in Burning Flames. It’s bugging me but not to the extend of forcing me to give up the show. However, he managed to show well his understanding of his own character.
Then, just recently finished Miss Crow with Mr Lizard. Gosh, his lines delivery was the SAME as in Forever And Ever. WEIRDLY, I got past that easier than previous and focus on the storyline and the chemistry. After one and only, I gradually began to appreciate his visuals and his smiles somehow looks nice too.
I don’t know how to describe this. Until now, no words. I even plan to watch Under the Power, and probably resume Blue Whisper. Or perhaps that old drama with Yang Zi.
His choice of scripts are interesting too. A mechanical heart, merman, chemistry professor. He’s one of those actors that don’t shy from doing something different which is commendable.
He’s not a bad actor but he needs to improve in certain areas such as intonation and his lines dubbing. Because I could see he’s capable of making more than one expressions(lol), he’s good with super micro expressions (not only both Zhousheng Chen’s but Gu Chuan too), delivering lines are also part of acting. If one can spend so much time trying to express through their faces, they should do so with their voices.

I guess I finally found my ultimate drama BE. All these while watching characters BE-ing, One And Only gave a freaking big BE as a whole leaving me here sobbing like a mess since I finished the show two weeks ago.
It’s like an open wound.
This hurts so bad.
Why the torture? At the same time I’m fine with it? Bruh.

Somehow I wish to rewrite #ForeverAndEver #一生一世 story leading to their happy ending. Saw that many people felt the modern Zhousheng Chen is not the same as ancient one.
Me having watched the drama, somehow felt fine but I felt it was overdone? Their relationship in the modern world should make up all the regrets of the past. So this time, it should be smooth and they can take their time to fall in love.
Modern Zhousheng Chen doesn’t need a complicated family. Was it something he need in this lifetime? Was it something he desire in the past? Ancient Zhousheng Chen is very complicated. I just wish his life now is much simpler but writer chose to add this instead.
Even without the reincarnation theme in the drama, it need to make us believe why modern Shiyi recognised him, not just with same name. She recognised his beautiful bone, his inner beauty. How can someone recognise someone else’s inner beauty without knowing that person?
Forget the drama, the book actually described modern Zhousheng Chen as different from his past looks and plain looking.
And Zhousheng Chen was never married nor have kids, how he was part of the modern Zhousheng Chen’s ancestors? I bet his relatives all were killed and none was spared. Plot hole here.
I have issues with Forever And Ever (didn’t read the book because I can’t stand that here it’s much a slower than One And Only) but all they need is their happy ending AND of course the supporting characters whom ended tragically, getting their happy endings in here too.

Characteristics of a character is important. When applied too much, it can become unstable.
Reminded me of a Telugu movie Janatha Garage. The main guy is an environmentalist but he supports violence. That’s one hell of character unbalance right there. How can I believe he care for the environment while he also beats people up? Try to make sense here.
When you present a weak character and trying to add buffs without knowing why, and how it plays a role in the storyline, then it’s a failure.
And to make things worse, when one subtracts buff from OTHER character and put it into the other MAIN character. That’s double failure.

Found interesting analysis.
Is XL purely a confidant?
By end of the novel, XY is no longer XY. There is no traces of 🍃 in her body but there are traces of XL everywhere. Her blood, the bow, her archery ability.
The confidant is too confidant. Her body is full of traces left by his confidant? Why would you want to live on an island after your best friend died?
