I’ve seen a fair bit of writing and art for it by now, so I headcannon that N really likes tummy rubs and pats. When Uzi’s sitting in her bed doing whatever she is in the moment, N will sometimes peek his head above the edge, and then scamper up onto her lap and lie face up, looking at her with begging eyes and his stomach showing.

Unable to refuse, Uzi puts down whatever she’s doing and gives him some rubs and pats, and he immediately starts purring loudly. His tail thumps on the mattress, his face plastered with a blissful smile. He rolls over a little bit, sometimes even falling off the bed which makes Uzi laugh.

However, I also believe he didn’t always like tummy rubs, mainly because being touched on his lower torso initially reminded him two things:

1. Being experimented on by the Solver. It did a lot of surgery on him, which he was completely awake for. The sight of his own beating core wriggling inside an open pair of unfamiliar ribs still haunts some of his nightmares. That’s saying nothing of the pain.

2. Over the years of hunting down the workers of Copper-9 as DDs, N endured a fair bit physical abuse from J. And one of the things she often did was punch him in the stomach. Worst still, she often did it so as she came up to N after he made a mistake (or even if he didn’t), she looked at him with a fake friendly smile, put a hand on his shoulder, and then struck him so hard he was doubling over and on the verge of tears.

So when Uzi and N started being physically affectionate, he initially didn’t want her to touch him on his stomach, which she was perfectly fine with. He had always seemed to enjoy head pats anyway. But one day, she jokingly makes a comparison to him and a Golden Retriever, asking if he’d like belly rubs. And N contemplates. It’s been a long time since he’s felt genuine pain there. The memories are still there, but he knows Uzi won’t hurt him.

So he tells her he’d like to try, which surprises her. He emphasises to her to be very gentle, and so she does. And after a moment of tension, he feels how nice is and he just melts. She’s surprised by just how much he loves it, but is happy to continue doing it because of the adorably funny faces he’s making.

But unbeknownst to her, this is an extreme gesture of love and trustworthiness to N, which makes him fall deeper in love with her, even more than he already is 💛💜.

Small repentances. Uzi really didn't trust Cyn when she said she could help Nori, thought it was just a gross-out joke of Uzi making a bunch of flesh just to shove in a body for funsies. Surprisingly, it was Nori who was like "let's try it" because there wasn't any risk outside of a few hours of being squicked

Nori's core is too weak to properly anchor into a brand-new body, she'd exhaust herself of resources even if the body was actively intaking material— so really just Uzi prepping the body for the smoothest assimilation by having it already "infected" so to speak artificially, i.e. Making Solver Meat and Shoving it in a body.
