Realized that it had been a long time since I did something purple... so, I decided to try a purple marble because I had so many pretty purple shades. Also saw a tip about how to pick up polish to marble it. It was pretty easy. Did a new set today before Mom's service tomorrow. Completely dedicated to the #RosesForRosa theme this time again. Two thermal changing gels (pink and green) with pink and yellow roses. Doing my nails for mom. Pink and red were her favorite colors... and of course, #RosesForRosa🌹🌹 Last picture are roses sent from my family at work. Mom rarely said, "No" when we wanted something. But, when I was in 3rd grade, mom told me she wouldn't buy me the Lee Press-On nails that all my friends were wearing. She told me that if I wanted them, she would get them for me at the end of the summer. All I had to do was stop biting my nails. She pulled out a box of nail polish with all these gorgeous colors and told me that I could use them to keep me from biting my nails. We spent many days that summer doing our nails together. When we were about to start school shopping as the summer ended, she kept her promise and offered to get me those Lee Press-On nails. My nails were long at this point and they were no longer necessary. So she got me more polish instead. She always knew what was best for me. She found creative ways to help me discover those things myself. I'm not sure if I understood how much that discovery process sculpted my life... until now. I have been told that I have a "special set of skills". I'm good at connecting the dots and getting people to do things they don't necessarily want to do. Thanks for teaching me to fish, Mom. The beginnings of me... my parents. So many people tell me I look just like my mom. I tend to agree. I'm one of the family historians and love going through photos to revive memories when times get tough. These pictures remind me that I've been blessed to have these memories to view and share. Fresh palettes! Removed my old mani and did a builder gel overlay on my natural nails with this super pretty light pink. Trimmed my nails because they had gotten super long. Can't wait to paint them but I know I'll be using this one a LOT. Very pretty alone and as a base. I'm glad I got a bigger container and it lasts for 4 years. It's been a minute since I've posted anything personal... Still grinding and working really hard to make moves that impact diversity, equity, and inclusion. I've learned that it's bigger than me. It's got to be about my investment in the community... to the people... and our future. You'll see a different grind from me this year. A focused grind with purpose. A successful colleague gave a keynote this year at a Management Leadership of Tomorrow summer session with these 3 key takeaways: 1. Never stop learning 2. No white Christmas for NC... so I decided to celebrate a little blue winter magic on my nails. Two different @modelones_official color changing gel polishes make this mani so unique and fun! Very deep blue when cold and super soft and pale when warm. I have an ombre type effect since my natural nails have gotten so long. Thermogels are my favorite because it's like 2 manicures in one! I started with a milky white builder gel overlay and followed with my thermogels and some decals. In November 2019... I decided to try gel manicures at home. I loved the longevity of gel since regular polish always chips after a few days for me. So, I bought a lamp and my first gel kit and started practicing. It definitely required practice! But I've gotten much better and will continue to do my own nails as I have for the last 3 years. Over 35 orders from Amazon, including a handful from the direct site, have created quite a collection for me to practice. It's a relaxing way for me to express my creativity on the tips of my fingers! Solid cream gels are my current favorite product, and I love the latest palettes! I'm so glad I ventured out and tried something new. The first mami picture is my first attempt and the last picture is my current mani.
