She had returned to Meltokio after the worlds were united, but so far nothing was going right. There were people in the city who remembered her from ten years ago, and with her having not aged since then... Well, she’d been attacked at least three times already, under the assumption that she was a half-elf. Lillith refused to fight back, even though she didn’t feel anything, didn’t mean she would go against her own beliefs.
A pacifist by nature, she had never condoned fighting, violence, or hurting others for any reason. And that included fighting back. So, she was pushed around instead, until they gave up and left her lying in the back alley. There would be bruises all over later, and she could taste the copper tang of blood in her mouth. At the very least, most of her humanity had been restored long enough for that.

Gripping her staff, she pulled herself to her feet and made her way towards the Inn. She doubted she could show up at the church looking like she did; her clothes soiled and torn, her lip bleeding. But she could barely stand, and after stumbling down a few steps, she ended up falling into someone.
All she could see for a moment was red, and when she pulled away, she blinked and looked at the face of someone familiar. Palmacosta... right? He had been traveling with Sylvarant’s Chosen.
“Y-you... you’re a friend of the Chosen, right?” She had to force the words out, she was still a bit shaken from the earlier attack.

Bandits were a problem everywhere, and while Lillith did have a coin purse that she could hand over, she wasn’t willing to give away all her money to these brutes. A deep breath in, she closed her eyes and calmed her heart as best she could. These men hadn’t truly threatened to kill her, just to fight if she didn’t hand over her gald. No doubt there were half-elves among them, struggling to get by any other way. Not many of them ended up in this position, only a few.
Most were either recruited to the Desians, or just lived in isolation, stealing food for a living. It was a difficult world to live in, with both humans and elves hating them. Lillith would likely face the same discrimination if people knew what she was; which was why she was so careful.

“I have already told you, I have very little gald. Stealing from me would hardly be worth your time.” She spoke. “I am merely a Priestess, I barely earn enough gald to get by. So please, step aside and let me continue on to the next town.”
The bandits seemed to consider it for a moment, but then one of them pointed his sword at her throat. “Ya look rich enough, considerin’ that gown a’yers.” He replied. “Now why don’tcha hand over what gald ya got, and we’ll let ya go on.”
Lillith’s only response was to stand firm, her grip on her staff tightening slightly, though she knew she would never fight them. It wasn’t in her nature. All she could do was hope that something would happen to get her out of this situation.

Meltokio was the best place for her to live, so long as she kept up the pretense of being a Priestess of Martel. Though she knew the religion was false by now, it was the only way she knew how to live. And it was far easier than constantly traveling from place to place, to be sure.
Lillith smiled gently as she watched the regulars sitting in the pews. The Priests were having their daily communion, singing the praises of the Church, and the Goddess Martel. Though she ignored the words, she did not ignore the people she saw. Seeing them bow their heads in prayer, seeing their faith, gave her hope.
However, she did notice one face out of the many that she didn’t recognize. No one else seemed to be aware of the woman, but Lillith was alert. Checking to make sure no one was watching, she moved towards the other with a graceful stride.

“Greetings. It is always nice to see a new face in the Church.” She greeted warmly. “Are you new to the city, perhaps?”

It certainly wasn’t every day that Lillith found herself traveling on the roads, but it was around that time when she needed to move on. People were growing suspicious of the fact that she wasn’t aging. And as much as she hated to admit, she knew this day would eventually come. And there could be no delay, regardless of bandits on the roads, or the threat of monster attacks.
Sure, she could always use her wings and fly wherever she needed to go quickly, but that would be dangerous. If anyone were to take notice, they would surely remember the sight. And so she traveled by foot, remaining constantly aware of her surroundings; for if she was attacked on the road, she would need to act quickly to avoid fighting.
She wasn’t expecting to meet anyone on the road, but neither was she going to run off. So she instead put a smile on her face, and feigned happiness at her chance meeting.

“My most humble greetings, traveler.” She spoke, her tone pleasant enough. “Are you on a Pilgrimage as well, or are you simply looking for the next town?”

It was never easy, returning to the city where she had been forced to grow up. Looking back on her memories, she couldn’t help but remember how much she hated the Church, and the priests that looked after her. But that was a long time ago, and Lillith had little time to allow the past to haunt her. What she wanted, the reason she had returned, was in the hopes of finding someone to hear out her story. If she could do that, then maybe she could have a normal life again.
After all, it was due to Cruxis that her life had been altered. Now that they were gone, she could stop hiding who she was, though she felt nothing at the prospect of returning to her former self, still it was her only option. She had lived too long in solitude to continue on that way.
Standing in the middle of the central square of Meltokio, she called out to people passing by. Most simply ignored her, or spared her a passing glance, but none stopped to listen. The longer she stood there, and the more she called out, the more she thought that this was a pointless effort. No one was going to stop and listen. And that was made all the clearer, when a nobleman brushed by her in a rush, knocking her aside.
Her hands scraped against the ground in an effort to save her fall. Lillith stared at the ground for a moment, before she pushed back to her feet. Though she was human, she was invisible to these people.

“I may as well be dead like all the others.” She thought aloud, sighing as she backed away from the center of the square. Since she wasn’t turning around, she didn’t notice the young woman she was about to bump into.

A few months had passed since the uniting of the two worlds. People all around were confused, not understanding what happened. And some found that the land had changed drastically. No one could explain it, and many were too afraid to try and understand it.
For Lillith, however, she understood that Cruxis was finished. The meager chance that she would be hunted down no longer lingered in her thoughts. And as she traveled, she did all she could to ease the fear of the people she met on the road. The world was different, yes. but the people hadn’t changed with it. That was perhaps the only constant, and not even she could control the outcome.
Sadly she was not fortunate enough to avoid trouble, by way of bandits on the road. Physically strong as she was due to the Cruxis Crystal, she still held back as the bandits attacked her. Blocking one or two attacks, only to be grazed by the sword of a third enemy, she stumbled back.
Grey eyes quickly glanced around, spotting someone just a bit further down the road. They clearly hadn’t noticed the attack yet. But that was about to change.

“You there! Please! Help me!” She called out as loudly as she could, just barely blocking another attack with her staff.

She was anxious, of course, though she’d never admit it to anyone lest they call her weak. Weak was not a word she would use to describe herself, despite her pacifist demeanor. She was strong of heart, and even though she could care less about the world, she was still the Chosen One. If it was truly her duty to give her life to save the world, then she would follow this path ‘til the end -- no matter how lonely it was.
Lillith folded her hands together, keeping them in her lap as she sat on a fallen tree. She was watching her companions very closely, despite not meaning to. The man called Yuan was grumbling as he set up their camp, but otherwise paid her no mind. She didn’t care; she didn’t trust him anyway.
Rather, it was the other companion she was watching. A young woman who appeared not much older than herself, but who was clearly not as young as she appeared to be. A half-elf as well, she was sure, but it felt like there was something she was missing. And that feeling alone made it all the harder to talk to them, considering.

Letting out a sigh, Lillith looked down at her hands, her anxiety growing. “Does any of this even matter?” She thought aloud, unaware that they could hear her.
