(¸.• ♛ → Maybe this could be her chance to speak to him about this gemini thing. A small sigh escaped from her lips, it was just now or never. “I can understand that.” It happens to her a lot, actually. Now when he asked that, okay, it was time. “Uhm, well, I’ve been thinking about some thingsand I’m glad I found you, I would like to ask you something.” Hope now was a bit serious about this. “Could you please tell me everything you know about the merge from the gemini coven?”
Kai got a bit taken by surprise by the question, and the frown and tilt of his head might have hinted that. “Well.. What do you want to know?” He only asked, taking a sip of his drink before he sat himself correctly. “It’s a powerful ritual we do when we’re twenty-two to determine who will be our next leader. There has to be the magic of any celestial even for it to happen and basically.. You join hands and merge blood and say the incantation together.” Kai started to explain, shrugging slightly. “Anyone with strong enough magic can force a merge if they hold both of the twins’ hands, and it’s not quite natural magic. Nature created.. Well, siphoners like me against it.”

School was getting hard, and not having any attachment to anyone here was making it hard for Kai to focus on anything. He felt like he didn’t belong, and while his home was awful, and while he had hated it the whole time he was there, he almost wanted to be back. Trying to get it out of his head by training in his garden. However, after a moment, he stopped at the sound of steps. “That’s private property.” Kai only said, as he slightly turned toward the other. “Enjoying the show?”

(¸.• ♛ → The girl was drinking some coffee, was something that she truly enjoys. A small sigh escaped from her lips now looking at the other one, after all, the brunette really needed to just distract herself from everything. “Uhm, yeah, sure.” Hope says pointing the seat there was in front of her, she didn’t know how to feel about him after knowing he was Lizzie and Josie’s uncle that one with bad history but then, her dad was also like that so she prefers not to think too much about it, maybe he can help with the gemini ritual of twins. “It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other…”
As he sat down in front of Hope when she agreed with him getting there, Kai got his textbook full of his lessons out. As he took a sip of his drink, he nodded at her words. “Yeah that’s true. I was focused on my studies, I didn’t see anyone much to be quite honest.” He stated, putting down his drink as he opened his book at one of his lessons’ page. He needed to have good ratings at his tests, so he was working as much as possible. “What have you been up to?”

elena didn’t like to be afraid, she didn’t like to run because running from her problems only ever seemed to make things worse. no good had come out it before as she stood staring at him, her back still pressed tightly against the car. what the hell was she supposed to think? his next words didn’t fill her with much confidence either as she shook her head gently. her lips parted to snap something, to tell him that whatever it was she wanted no part in it but then his hands came up. was she really supposed to believe he didn’t mean her any harm? well… it would be a first. “i… i don’t know what you are talking about.” it made sense for elena’s brain to immediately jump to denial, not many people heard original vampires come from someone’s mouth then call them to the hospital like that. when he continued talking she realised her initial denial had been pointless as her eyes narrowed, her head tilting slightly. her kindness again felt like it was getting the better of her. “are you hurt? because we should really get you inside.” this could not be happening was her only thought process in that moment as she glanced to him with concern layering her features. “your… your a witch?” her words quiet as she looked to him. elena knew better than to think that the witches would get into bed with klaus again after what happened last time. perhaps this wasn’t that and maybe this had nothing to do with niklaus. “i…” she delayed her response, her eyes searching for something in his that told her this wasn’t some kind of trick. although she already knew she was deciding to believe him. “i can try.” she whispered. “but i’m… i’m just a medical student. i’m still in training. i can’t sign off on any medication but if you… if you come inside i can… i’m sure we can work something out?” no, they couldn’t exactly say what was wrong with him to someone else but if he truly was sick and he was suffering she knew that the doctors would sign on. she just had to convince him of that now. “it’s safe. i promise.”
Kai was hoping for help, he wasn’t sure who else he could ask for it and it had seemed to be the only good idea he had. But somehow, he wasn’t so sure about how good his idea was now that he was in front of her. “I’m-.. Not getting in there.” He started almost immediately when she proposed to get him inside. He couldn’t stop remembering the sight of his mother’s body when they were trying to get her back, when he knew it was already too late for the power that ran in his veins, and he couldn’t have done anything. He remembered how long he had cried and how much he had promised it was an accident, that he wasn’t a monster when his father claimed the opposite. He couldn’t get in there. “I’m a siphoner, it’s.. More complicated, but yeah it’s basically a sub-category of witches.” He explained slowly, looking at the young woman. Asking him to come inside again got him a bit shaken off. He was scared to get in, he was almost one hundred percent certain it would trigger bad memories, and he didn’t know how to control that. “I-..” He got silent when she promised it was safe, and as he hardly swallowed, he finally nodded slowly. “Okay.. But I’m not sure you’ll find anything it’s-.. Um, magic sickness.”

Kai had to admit he had been feeling lonely lately. It felt as if he hadn’t got anyone, and the fact that he was locking himself in his studies was maybe not helping. This time however, he had decided to go out to a cafe to study and drink some tea at the same time. It’s how he found himself there, tea in hand, looking around to find a free table or a place where to sit. When he saw Hope, he only walked to her, giving her a slight smile. “Hey Hope.” He spoke slowly. “Can I-uh.. Can I sit? There’s nowhere else I can sit at.”

While being out here without getting any magic was hard, being inside with other people, and all of these feelings of magic around him, was even harder. He could feel the itch in his hands, the burn in his veins just asking for magic, more than before. It was getting hard to control. So he had sat down away from people, trying to calm it down, when he felt something else, like powers but not any that he had felt before. “Please get your powers away from me, I can feel it and I-..” He took a deep breath, sighing. “I can’t even explain that.”

Kai didn’t move away from the window, only looking outside. He had always loved snow and it was actually paining him that he couldn’t go outside for now, as it was dangerous. “I wish we could go outside.” He admitted, talking to the nearest person. “I’ve always loved snow, and cold, but um.. Not when it’s that dangerous.”

kindredstories·:
Anne wandered through the park, lost within her own thoughts. This entire situation vexed her, truly. Some of the things she’d seen and learned here have been absolutely glorious, and yet here she did not have any true kindred spirits, nor did she have any of her dearest friends. Not one familiar face was to be found. Sometimes, she simply felt so lonely, and that feeling opened an ache within her that Anne had been certain had closed itself a long time ago. It was also a feeling that Anne was not eager to revisit. Nevertheless, she was curious as to how she got here, and intent on finding a way back— and there were loud footsteps behind her. Anne whirled around, her back straight and her nose held high, affecting an air of self-confidence. “It isn’t gentlemanly nor lady-like to sneak up on someone.”
For the first time in weeks, Kai felt like he could actually live and not stay buried in his books studying laws. He had a hard time staying on top of his class, the lack of concentration he had got for the few days before his intense studying weeks had been bad for his ratings and he had been struggling to bring it back up. However, he was letting himself take a break on this day, and as he was walking happily to go get himself a well deserved waffle, the young woman in front of him who turned around to talk to him made him jump a little as she spoke. “Jesus Christ! O-..Okay?” He said, taking a deep breath to pretend she hadn’t scared him to death here. “I was just going to get a waffle, I’m sorry?” Maybe he didn’t deserve that waffle and it was Heaven’s way to tell him.

cruelghcsts:
It’d been a month and six days since she last saw him. Not that she was counting, or avoiding him. Okay, that was a lie. It wasn’t like there was any harm lying to herself; she had gotten good at it. Her palms were sweaty and heart racing as she walked up to the building he’d told her he lived in. Roxy hated being scared, for any reason. It made her feel weak, like she was a child. She thrived when she had control of a situation, and could predict what would happen next. She couldn’t do that here. I love you. I need you.
Kai’s voice had kept her up most nights since she last saw him. That momentary burn he’d left on her skin, when they touched for the first time in so long. She craved it again, to feel his hands all over her, and hers all over him. The quiet ding of the elevator brought her back to reality. When an elderly woman got off, she returned her kind smile with a small one of her own. With a press of the button, she was rising up to his floor. Her hands burrowed in her pockets, leaning back and forth on her the balls of her feet. The light above her flickered slightly. Soon enough, she had arrived.
The walk to his door wasn’t long, which she should be happy about. Instead, she wished for more time to calm herself down. But that probably wouldn’t have happened, no matter how much time she had. Her body froze at the door, staring at the glossy numbers hung on it. This was her last chance to back out, run away, pretend she’d never come here.
Roxy pulled her hand out of its pocket, knocking lightly on the wood. “Kai? It’s me,” she called out to him, just in case he didn’t want to answer a random knock at his door.

He couldn’t pretend he wasn’t trying to avoid everything now. Because he was, trying to escape his own feelings and his fear of fucking up everything with her. So he was avoiding her, hiding in his apartment and not getting out, except for school and work. It was what seemed to be easier, to pretend nothing happened, that she still was dead, that there was no coming back from it, and that he certainly hadn’t told her he loved her, that they hadn’t kissed, that he hadn’t said it all.
You’re my home. Then come back home. Come back to me.
It kept ringing in his head, how right it had felt, how scared he was however, how he prayed for everything to feel so right again, but how he didn’t want to start over, because he knew it couldn’t be right. Because he knew he had hurt her before, and that he would again. He had no control over anything, and while he had heard her when she said she wanted him to keep touching her with his bare hands, he knew he wouldn’t be able to control all the time. And he refused to take anything from her again, he had already taken her life, and it was enough, and he didn’t want to risk it again.
Sitting on his couch, reviewing his lessons that were scattered all over the table and the couch itself, he got a little bit surprised when he heard a knock at the door. He wasn’t expecting anyone, but when he heard her voice, everything made more sense. Maybe she had realized he was avoiding her, maybe she wanted explanations. Taking his glasses off, he put it down on his book before he got up. He couldn’t keep ignoring her.
So he opened the door, leaning against the frame as he gave her a smile. “Hey Roxy.” He said softly, pushing the door a bit more open. “You wanna get in?”

justsvrvivesomehow:
of all the things jo didn’t want to see in washington, this had to be at the top of her list. the sight of his face brought shivers down her spine. her twin. her brother. her k i l l e r. jo wanted love in her life. she wanted family. but her husband had moved on and her own twins had been raised by someone else. she counted herself lucky that caroline was their mother, but that didn’t remove any of the anger she felt at having that life stripped away from her. stolen from her. her girls were safe and they were happy and jo had no intention of trying to interfere with that. they’d lost her too many times already. so had her husband. it was the end for her, she had been at peace there and now she was here. now she was here and she was looking straight at h i s face.
jo had loved her twin. he had always been different, but jo had been filled with love growing up. she hadn’t understood what he was capable of. what he would do to her. jo had believed, perhaps wrongfully, that despite everything, they were still siblings. that there was still love. but jo had almost died trying to protect liv and luke and she had died, unable to save her siblings or family. “how did y o u get here?” she whispered, her eyes fluttering. make no mistake, jo was afraid. but he had already taken everything from her time and time again. what more did she have to lose?
( @defectivehearts )
Kai knew. He knew every single thing he had done, or according to the online newspapers, and he had been trying to live with himself for weeks for this. He was not going to pretend he didn’t feel bad about any of this, he was not going to pretend he didn’t have questions for his future self. He was not going to pretend he didn’t hate the person he had to be in the future. The mirror in his bathroom had suffered through his questioning to himself. How could you do that? How could you hurt them? And a punch into the mirror that had made his fist bleed. He hated himself for things he hadn’t done yet, for things he was probably never going to do. For things he was trying to avoid to do now.
He hadn’t been expecting that in any way, getting out of law school for the day, he was about to go back home, cook himself some mac&cheese and start to review his lessons for the next day, all of that while trying to figure out the case his mentor was working on. However, his plans fell immediately when he saw that face. His arms fell to his sides, and for a moment he started to wonder what he could say to her. Was she from his time, or from later, after everything he had done? “Jo..” He murmured, and he was going to walk closer when he saw that she was afraid. He could see it, she was his twin sister after all. “You’re.. Afraid of me. I’m taking you’re not from 1993.” He pointed out before he closed his eyes for a second, letting out a low sigh. “I-I’m not the one you knew. I know what happened, but it never.. Happened. For me.”

“Well I’ve..been known to have many enemies and yet I lived for many many years. Somehow my family always forgave me even when I drove a stake through their heart.” Klaus said it almost as if he was proud of the fact. “This is beyond anything that I could imagine…I do wonder who should happen if we are given a chance to ever leave this town.”
“Well, your family sounds quite fucked up.” Kai pointed out, looking down as he thought about his own. “I learnt what I am apparently.. Cursed to do to them in the future and I personally hope they won’t forgive me for this. You don’t hurt people you love. That future me, who did that to them, that’s not human anymore. That’s a monster.” He took a deep breath, looking back at him. “Do you want to try getting out of here?”

it was the beginning of another day in washington. day after day heather would dream about leaving this place, traveling the world, meeting some good looking guys to treat her. her blue hues linger around the bar. her tall, red dressed figure stands in heels awaiting for a drink. “ – so what’s your go to drink? i prefer something dirty“
Kai looked over the young woman talking to him as he started to pay attention to her. A slight frown appeared on his face before he finished the last sip of his beer. “Is that your way of asking to offer me a drink?” The young man asked, a smile appearing on his lips. “Because if so, I don’t know. Surprise me.” He added, winking at her.

“Well if that’s the case than I’m probably on my.. 100th chance,” he chuckled softly. “But I suppose I should be grateful for that.” Klaus shrugged. “Just thinking. I’ve lived many years… but I never imagined something like this. I imagine being gone.. but.. not.. taken to some strange land unable to leave it.”
“You’re aware that a vampire, even original, saying that isn’t reassuring, right?” Kai asked with a slight shake of his head. “I don’t think anyone here ever imagined that. Unless they were drugged or something. But it’s a great chance to become a better person and to start over. Take it.”

Kai smiled as she took his hand and he dragged her out with him, starting to walk. “You’ll see, it’s completely different when food is actually great.” The young man said playfully before he turned to the young woman. “Oh, I’m Kai by the way!”

“ i was in jail before this shithole, you know. ” he started, ignoring the fact that he was exposing all of his personal & quite irrelevant information to some stranger’s ears. then, feigning sadness, he continued, “ i’m too young and beautiful for that, everyone there would’ve taken advantage of me. —— i’m just a piece of art. ”
“Really?” Kai just asked not, tilting his head slightly. He didn’t really care, but it was always better than the silence or the thoughts he had in his mind. “Okay Narcissus, we got it.” He said as a joke, laughing a bit. “Y’know there’s a good way to make sure that doesn’t happen. Get a prison hubby and be prison gay. It’s not that great but it’s the best way to be safe.”

Lizzie shook her head as she dismissed the other guy’s statements. Of course to her it sounded like the times when her elementary school teacher would spew out that sharing is caring nonsense. This felt like one of those times and she only added a scoff to her shaking her head at him. “And I’m not into sharing just because it’s the polite thing to do. Besides it’s not like you’re some grandparent that needs the seat more.”
Kai raised his eyebrows at the young woman’s words before he scoffed. “I don’t give a shit about that. If I want to sit, I’ll sit down on you. Don’t you worry.” The worst part was that he wasn’t even joking here. “I don’t know who raised you but they definitely don’t know shit about raising a child. Even my monster did better.”
