Friendly reminder that fat therians are literally so cool and awesome and valid, and being fat doesn't make you less wild, less free, less animal, etc.!
This goes triply so for fat therians who can't do stuff that's "expected" of therians these days, like quadrobics.
Look, I spent most of my teen years feeling like my body size invalidated my nonhuman identity, and it both sucks and is NOT TRUE AT ALL. I know it's hard when human society pushes fatphobia so much, but try to see past that if you can. Healing starts with recognising that society is wrong and that fatness is natural and beautiful. <3
And for non-fat therians: remember to try and be welcoming and considerate to therians of all body sizes! c:

sometimes, i end up getting therian videos on tiktok, and a lot of the "informational" ones make me feel like shit. heres me sort of debunking stuff that ive seen
"therians know we're human" okay? we're aware of our human body, though some of us really arent human. this one is.. Fine on its own, but i always see it followed by..
"therians dont ACTUALLY think we're animals" im a hare, checkmate
"therians dont identify as animals" that. comes free with being a therian. stop saying this. why is it other therians who say this???
"therians dont act like animals" i saw this one from a quadrobist i think. i shouldnt have to even say anything here
"the therians who act like animals are delusional" nope. acting like an animal is fun. also super common and popular on tiktok which is where i SAW THIS MESSAGE AT. who cares if someone acts like an animal? not everything thats "weird" to you makes someone delusional. grow up.
"identifying physically as an animal is a delusion" it can be! but it isnt always. i could say that identifying as an animal in general is a delusion, and then youd fire back with 'no, no, not all of us' which is true! now apply that same logic to physically identifying nonhumans
"therians have a strong connection to an animal, and relate to it heavily, it isnt thinking youre actually an animal" lets leave this back in 2019 and 2020. like i thought it was already left in. therians identify AS an animal. in other words, since that apparently isnt clear to many people, therians ARE animals.
"you cant really be an animal, we're just human" similar to the first point. therians identify as animals. we are animals. humans are also animals.

i just wanna give a shoutout (/sar) to tiktok for completely ruining people's idea of how alterhumanity works. the information there can be anywhere from basically true but not quite to totally incorrect. this is why i find it hard to interact with alterhuman spaces online because like. it's mostly populated by younger people who genuinely think having a theriotype of a mythical animal is a sign of "faking." not to mention the misinfo of "fakers" being a big huge major issue. news flash, policing others' identities and thinking you know their true intentions and feelings is not cool!!!!

Reminder that it’s okay for identities to change. It’s normal, even, for our identities to change as we grow. It’s okay if you were one creature one day and now you’re something else.

Dude I need ppl to get real normal abt mental-illness born alterhumanity real fast
"Oh well alterhumanity is smth you're born w/ and there's all these rules !!!" No lmao
There are literally no rules, and I NEED ppl to stop spreading that false info online lmaoooo
Literally if you feel like an animal (nonhuman) in any way shape or form, then literally use the label.
Ppl irl will try their best to understand, and literally no one outside of the internet cares abt sum1's identity as much as you think they will.
Tbh just live true to yourself, and dude, shoutout to my alterhumans who are non-human in whatever way because of their neurodivergency/mental illness. I see y'all, and I love y'all.

no, you don’t need to wear your mask/tail to school.
i wish young nonhumans didn’t feel compelled to be ‘out’ at school, especially when it’s a dangerous environment. i keep seeing posts along the lines of “wore my tail/mask to school! people berated/teased/put their hands on me, but it’s ok”.
no, it’s not.
like.. i understand a mask or a tail can be a very validating thing for some people. and i’m not saying NO ONE should wear them at schools. but i just keep watching this mounting trend of young therians insinuating you need some physical accessory or to do quads to be a ‘real’ nonhuman. and then it leads to things like this and it makes me incredibly sad.
i’d known i was alterhuman since late elementary school, actually. it’s a huge part of my life even now, years after graduation. there wasn’t a reason for it to be brought up, so i never did. it was a closely guarded secret to me, but it didn’t feel like a weight i was carrying. i always thought “no one needs to know i’m an animal if it jeopardizes my safety. so, oh well”.
“but, how will people know that i’m an animal?”
they probably will. they probably already do.
i was the designated ‘animal’ person my entire school career despite not ever handling animals in front of anyone. if there were pets, lost wild animals (baby rabbits, birds, lizards), or sometimes even loose livestock that got onto campus, it was always me who had to go tend to them.
everyone wanted me in their group in environmental science. if a project called for animal illustrations, the same thing would happen. it was certainly weird because i was also a ‘weird kid’ and not especially desired to be around outside of that, lol. but i was never harassed for it. it made me feel very validated, actually.
i had fun during gym running and fiercely destroying the opposing team in field hockey. i taught everyone which plants were okay to forage (and we snacked on them when we had to sit on the lower field for practice). every day i was hyperaware of the limbs i had that weren’t quite there. friends noticed my ears twitch and my nose wiggle at certain stimuli. i felt nice walking on two legs. i felt nice because i felt animal and i didn’t have to prove it to anyone.
really like… just do what makes you happy. i admire the bravery it takes to so earnestly wear your identity on your sleeve like that. that’s very impressive. however, there is NO obligation to do anything like that if you understand that there will be a reaction that poses a threat to you.
i want our kids to be safe, too. you don’t have to feel dysphoria over being discreet. sometimes it’s the safest option. and sometimes, that can be really fun, too.
study everything you can about your ‘type. wikipedia and animalia are good resources. ramble about them to anyone who will listen. jokingly refer to yourself as one in friend spaces. wear discreet clothes that remind you of your ‘type. find a nice private place outside where you can run and explore and look at plants and smell the air and feel like yourself. but by no means do you have to prove yourself. you know you.

a thing i’ve seen a lot of recently in the quadrobics community is people insisting you have to curl your fingers. this is not necessarily true for everyone! it all comes down to how your body can move most comfortably and safely. as long as you’re being careful and keeping your limits in mind, use whatever hand form you’re most comfortable with.
just remember to know your limits and stay hydrated! your safety and health always comes first :3

i think a very important thing to remember about the alterhuman community is that there’s really no such thing as a “fake” therian/otherkin/etc. identities can fluctuate, you can be misinformed, you can even have the right information and still not realize you’re wrong about something until way later on. we make mistakes, it’s part of life, and that’s totally okay.
what’s NOT okay is when you harass or put down others for supposedly “faking” their identity. if someone realizes they were wrong about their identity, be gentle with them, and let them know that it’s totally fine if they were wrong. there’s enough beings jumping to conclusions out there and harming others because of it, we don’t need any more.
while i’m on the topic, having a lot of kintypes or not knowing what they are at all is also not a sign of “fake” alterhumanity. again, the experience is different for everyone, and feeling as though you’re a million creatures (or being unsure) isn’t a crime.
everyone experiences nonhumanity differently, and it’s easy to be mistaken when trying to decipher what exactly is going on in your head or spirit. having others snap at you for being wrong never helps. remember to be kind and considerate.
this community is already dragged and called fake by the people outside of it. infighting and trying to pick out the beings you think are causing the problems won’t make them respect us more.
tldr: there’s no such thing as a fake alterhuman, everyone can make mistakes or be misinformed. you shouldn’t chastise them for that. picking out the beings you think are causing problems will not make any humans respect us more.
