i think its important how much is left up to interpretation in this story

a "darker" world was always kinda gonna be impossible due to the explanation ralsei gives in the beginning of ch3, dark worlds are already negative light so going even further into the negatives would just make it brighter. this also explains why the spotlights in the beginning of queens mansion are called shadows, in the light world something having less light would be "in shadow", and it works the same in the dark world except less light actually means brighter

plus we already sorta got an idea of what itd be like in ch3 with the mantle game

i've been thinking about how the titan was made in ch. 4.

it could of course be the case that there is no hard rule for when "the Fountain's power becomes too strong" besides when toby needs one for the plot (which would be fine too imo), but assuming that isn't the case, there seem to broadly be two possibilities:

1. a titan spawns whenever a dark fountain is opened within an already existing dark world (this would unfortunately mean we won't get any darker dark worlds in future chapters)

2. a titan spawns when there are four fountains open at once (castle town + shelter + already present church fountain + new church fountain). this is less likely to be the case because the total number of fountains was already at four when susie made a fountain in the church's lobby. however, one could argue that the dark fountain made by the knight was more "powerful" than susie's because they have more experience in creating them.

personally, the former explanation seems more plausible to me (kinda sad since the concept of a darker dark world was/is really interesting to me).
