20th & 21st March
My last weekend living in Denmark! I am really going to miss living here, the time has gone so quickly. Even though some weekends have been limiting and boring because of Coronavirus, on the whole I am really glad of the time I have taken to explore Denmark. This weekend I chose to spend it in Copenhagen, booking a night away in Wake up Copenhagen- Borgergade, near Nyhavn. A much better location than the one I stayed in when my Dad visited. On Saturday morning I took the train to Central Station and walked to Alice Copenhagen for a coffee and croissant in Amager. It was a great start to the weekend although the weather wasn't the best. After devouring those I walked into the centre through Christianshavn up to Andersen & Maillard which was up past Norrreport station and over the bridge. I got another coffee there which was also very good. After that I walked back into the centre and off to the side of central station into Vetsterbro where I was heading to Racy for some chicken nuggets for lunch. These were recommend as was most of the food I have eaten on this weekend by food bloggers Anders Husa & Carnivorr (their instagram names) and they didn't disappoint, definitely worth the walk. After those I walked to the Hotel to see if my room was ready which is was so I dumped my bag, took a rest and then went out again. The weather wasn't very nice so I decided to save more sightseeing for Sunday when I knew it would be sunny so I took the afternoon to go shopping and enjoy the atmosphere. I grabbed a strawberry and rhubarb eclair from ‘Queen’s Delight’ to take back to the hotel and some wine and called it a day. I was exhausted! For dinner I ordered a pizza on Wolt as I had some free credit and watched movies for the evening, it was so peaceful. On Sunday I left the hotel around 9 30am and walked straight to Darcy’s Kaffe for a coffee, cardamon bun and a scone with rhubarb jam and butter, they were all so tasty. I sat by the canal diving the north and the south of the city in the sun. Afterwards I walked to see Reffen; an outdoor food market and Amass which were over by the Opera house but past it, it was a good walk and good to see somewhere different although it was very industrial. I took the bus back into centre and ordered a fried chicken sandwich from ‘Poulette’ which did not disappoint, it was incredible! I would defiantly recommend. I then walked to Nyhavn, back to Queens Delight to pick up some eclairs for the Vester’s and back along the shopping street to the train station and headed home to Holte. It has been a lovely weekend, lots of eating and walking but I feel like I've ticked most things off my list. I love Copenhagen, the architecture, the food, the vast amount of things to do and how friendly people are. I will be back!

13th & 14th March
The second to last weekend is upon me, trying to make the most of what I can but Saturday did not bring very nice weather and also I was a tad hungover from the night before when Myra came over for drinks and card games. I went for a long walk in the afternoon, in the rain, and then relaxed for the evening. On Sunday I got up early and headed into Copenhagen in the sunshine, what a difference a day makes! I got off the train at Dybbolsbro station, the stop after Copenhagen Central and walked along the bridge to get onto the stretch of pathway into central called Havneringen. I stopped off on my way at Anderson Bakery, which was a great little find and got a cardamon bun and a citron tart, they were delicious! I carried on walking to Nyhavn and to the shopping streets to see what shops were now open. I started to get hungry again so made my way to Popl to try the vegetarian burger, I wasn't too impressed by it and definitely preferred the meat one! After that I headed to Frederiksberg and Valby, which was a good long walk and I saw lots of news things. I didn't stop but the gardens around Copenhagen zoo and Sondermarken looked beautiful. I went into Valby and I was surprised with how quaint and small it was, very residential with a lovely high street. After exploring I got the train back to Holte and back home, it was a lovely end to the weekend.

6th & 7th March 2021
The countdown to me leaving Denmark is officially upon me and with the infection numbers of coronavirus decreasing I'm trying to get out of the house more. On Saturday I went to find 6 forgotten giants by artist Thomas Dambo who has created the giants in the run down suburbs of Copenhagen so more people would visit the areas. I got the train straight to Hoje Taastrup for the first one called Teddy Friendly which was a bit of a walk from the station but it was nice to see somewhere different. There was also a beautiful lake right next to him called Hakkemosen. Afterwards I got back on the train a few stops to Albertslund Station where it felt liked I walked for a long time to find Thomas on the mountain and Little Tilde. I really liked Little Tilde who was poking between the trees, they were all very impressive. The next stop was Sleeping Louis in Brondyoster, the story behind him is that many homeless people were camping out in the area and the Artist built him hollow so people could sleep in him. By the end of seeing Louis the weather started to get cold and it was getting late so I decided to leave the last two for another time and head home via Vesterport station for a Gasoline Burger, what a treat! I relaxed for the rest of the evening and on Sunday I also took it very easy by going for a local walk and completing a jigsaw I had already started. It was a lovely weekend!

27th & 28th February 2021
Restrictions in Denmark are slowly easing so on Saturday I went to Copenhagen in the morning and arrived in Norrreport station at 11 30am which I thought its perfect timing to go and see the guards change and the queens palace. That was really nice to see especially in the bright sunshine although it was still really cold. I walked to Gasoline Burger petrol station after as it was nearby and took it to go and eat in the King’s garden near Nyhavn. I was meeting Myra at 2pm in Christianhavn so I slowly made my way to the station. The problem with no shops/and limited cafes being open is that finding. a toilet is really hard to come by! Myra and I planned to go to Copenhill (the trash centre) which is a bit of walk away but we were both really impressed. It’s an artificial ski slope with steps up and down either side, I think it was 82m up. Once we were at the top we had beautiful views of Copenhagen and the south, including the famous bridge! there is a cafe at the top but because of Coronavirus they were selling beer so instead we walked down back to Nyhavn and bought some beers on the way. We took them and went to sit in the King’s Garden, it was a really lovely afternoon and the weather made it even better. There was a light festival happening on the Saturday night, the last one of the month so I stayed in the city and followed a route on my app, then headed home as but that point I was so cold. It felt so good to be out for aa day and get a change of scene. On Sunday I stayed locally, went for a long walk but generally took it very easy!

15th- 21st February
The half term week. The girls were off nursery so we were in the summerhouse for the beginning of the week. On Monday we went for a walk to Gilleleje, it took 3 hours as the girls were also walking and it was freezing! It was lovely to get a lot of fresh air and exercise. For the afternoon we stayed around the house and played outside as well. On Tuesday we headed off around 9am for our day trip on a ferry. We were all really looking forward to this as it was something different to do, we drove to Hundested and took the ferry to Rorvig which took about half an hour and then drove down to Holbaek, Roskilde where we got out for some exercise and then back up to Gilleleje. It was a wonderful day trip, it was so nice to be out most of the day although it was exhausting! On Wednesday it was a very calm morning where the Vester's went on a bike ride and I went for a walk and then we stayed around the house for the rest of the day and played games. On Wednesday evening I took the train back down to Holte as I was off Thursday and Friday and the weekend. On those days I went for long walks, saw Myra, and watched lots of Netflix, it was very relaxing and also very quiet! I have agreed to stay a month longer in Denmark and come home now on the 26th March as there is still not anything open in England and no new au pairs can enter Denmark at the moment so its a win win if I stay.

13th & 14th February 2021
Another weekend... I had a lovely lie in and then got up and went for a really long walk around the forest, back up to Hoje Sandjergvej and then into the forest speaking with Kath & Mum. I was gone about 2 1/2 hours which was so nice as it was also beautiful day, felt a but like spring although it was still freezing cold. Molly had had her birthday in the week so when I went home her friends and some adults were around which was nice but I went inside and finished my jigsaw. Dinner and Netflix was the evening plan, but nice to relax after a long walk. On Sunday I did the same and got out early to go for a long walk near Hoje Sandjergvej but off a different path. We are so lucky with the weather at the moment the sun really boosts the moods. I came back for some lunch and then went for another walk around the nearby lake where a lot of people were on the pond playing ice hockey, ice skating and generally having fun, it was so nice to see. At 3pm we Thomas and the girls left to drive to the summerhouse as it is now the half term break. I will be here until Thursday until I go back to the house for some days by myself for the rest of the week. It is so nice having a change of scene, it was much needed. Part of the sea is frozen which is really strange to see as well.
