The more collected look on the man’s face provided some solace, but… not completely, as made apparent by the lingering confusion on the humanoid’s facade.

“…No…”

The entity paused, appearing to process for a few seconds as curiosity began to overwhelm confusion. The reaper’s own head-tilting gesture had the Hougyoku’s cadaver subconsciously mirror it, even in the same direction, and completely without notice or intention.

“…Your face is rather ‘animated’ compared to some. It… was unusual to witness a drastic change in expression so quickly…”

The mockery didn’t go unnoticed though he figured it wasn’t meant in a negative light. This being was beyond such notions. At least Mayuri was inclined to believe so. His intelligence being a clear indicator that the Hougyoku was more mature in many ways.  But still-- there was that sort of innocence peeking through now and again.

  “Indeed. It is nearly pointless to hide such emotions. It doesn’t lead to second guessing and what have you. If I’m angry,for example,  there will be no mistake about it!” Raising one finger into the air as he declared so.

 “I find that too many others think that looking like a statue all the time is more ‘dignified’ or some malarkey like that.” There was a sigh, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his robe.                                              “Which can be infuriating..”

Blinking, staring, having a moment.

“A-ano–… I’m not sure if I should… be concerned or not. Should I just… let it proceed until it wears out, and… are you alright there?”

  The pause wasn’t expected-- more shouting perhaps but--

 “The interim is going to be quite irritating. If chemical correction isn’t implemented, who knows how long it will take to wear off.”  Head tilts slightly.            What’s this? 

“Yes I’m alright. . what has you concerned all of a sudden. Are you feeling ill??”

Going to Hueco Mundo had always been an enjoyable experience for him. Getting away from the headaches of Seireitei being a big plus-- and there were many curiosities to discover and research!

 However, there were also drawbacks. It was dangerous-- surely. Though Mayuri was confident in his defenses, plus he always had several escape routes if things got too out of hand.                                             [ which was unlikely ] 

This sort of circumstance was not uncommon. Creatures approaching and what have you. Some were hostile right way but this one didn’t seem to give off that intent. Golden eyes shifted to the side, catching a glimpse of the being that had so boldly approached. Interesting looking enough but it was one he’d yet to encounter. 

      “What do we have here?”

          What an intriguing notion; value lies in results you are proud of. He was correct in there being value in such things, but found that it didn’t hold the most value. ❝I tend to disagree, Taichou.     “Interesting..”

She wouldn’t be a part of his division without such insight.  “I wouldn’t expect anything less, Chiyo. Precisely what I was getting at. Failures lead to aforementioned evolution. There isn’t room for growth otherwise. Though it’s not to say everything I am proud of is the ultimate value-- just an example. Destruction does indeed lead to knowledge as well, not just loss of data-- that is if one is foolish enough to to have several back ups.” There weren’t many whom would attempt this type of conversation with him. Mayuri did appreciate the exchange of ideas and such. Especially with those at least somewhat like minded. 

“If only more could understand this train of thought. Instead many tend to fear failure to the point of not even trying. It’s a shame, such wasted potential. YOU, on the other hand, what you’re saying speaks volumes.” Which was a great deal of praise, coming from him.  “Let others see what can come from the failures you’ve created. The more grotesque the better. And don’t you dare hold back. I shan’t harbor the meek in my company.”

he’s not a hack. he has a phd yet for some reason chose to work at a high school. he could probably tell you plenty you don’t know about how biology works here in the world of the living.

  ”To continue learning, adapting to any given situation is ideal. Of course that sort of ideology isn’t shared across all thinking and moving creatures. Such as opinions will always vary and clash here and there. Such is inevitable-- just as one’s final end.”  He wasn’t a stranger to his coming demise. There were several instances when he felt himself teetering at the edge of death. But that wouldn’t hold him back from exploring further-- even the possibility of beyond death. As ironic as it may be, considering he-- they all had died once already. 

“To be in a cycle implies that we would not change but repeat, indefinitely. What I strive for, and encourage this division to do-- is to break the metaphorical chains holding you to said cycle. In my opinion, value lies in results that you are proud of. Sometimes that means destroying something if you are not satisfied with it. Rebuild, so on and so forth.”

No matter, Chiyo’s sure she missed most of it (something that certainly wouldn’t go unnoticed by her ever observant captain).            Brow arched high & a less than enthusiastic tone lacing her voice, Chiyo simply asks, ❝Do you intend to become a legend, Taichou?❞

That vacant stare eluded to her lack of attention.It was merely a passing thought brought to light. However, it wasn’t enough to warrant some kind of punishment. Perhaps just a slight twitch of his lip in annoyance.

   “I intend to evolve-- as I always have been. It’s worked in my favor thus far. Though becoming a legend usually means said being has died. Which is less than favorable. Besides, I don’t wish to be spoken about in such exaggeration.”

”Who allowed him a spraying device in the first place?  And no, he is not exactly one to learn from something like this-- so a transformation would only make whatever creature he becomes, highly aggressive. Which would lead to it being destroyed. The backlash from THAT seems like too much of a headache to be worth it. However, this makes removing his arms sound more acceptable.”
