I find it funny when queer fantasy stories are written in a setting where homophobia doesn't exist, but there's a ~forbidden romance~ element coming from some completely different, fantastical prejudice. Like

the blue and red blanket jayce wraps around viktor is symbolic of the humanity hes still holding onto... and also their love for each other

he keeps it throughout his entire season arc, and through his "glorious evolution" process you see it starts to cover less and less of him the further he strays:

the first time we see it, its completely draped over almost his entire body, only barely showing his hands, feet and head

the next time we see him, his head is covered, but more of his feet and arms are showing through

he loses the hood being in his lil cult after a while, the way the rest of it is pinned up is revealing more of his body; his legs and entire arms, and the sides of his torso are showing as well

when jayce finds him, its now only covering half of his body, but still holding on even after being blasted through the chest with a kamehameha

with the Herald form, now the furthest thing we see from the viktor we know, the blanket only having a tattered idea of it wrapped around him, just covering his shoulders. its almost completely gone though, the blanket that once covered his whole body is basically just two strands of fabric now:

but it still manages to incorporate itself into his astral form, because hes not completely gone yet, viktor is still in there. he still had a shred of humanity left to him.

and THATS why and how jayce is able to bring him back to himself, with a hug no less, its still there, weak but not completely gone yet. and notice how once the image of the Herald is cracked, viktor's form is still made up of blues and reds, even now, its still incorporated in a way

the mask metphorically and literally sheilding viktor from himself, but finally hes able to slip through once the mask cracks, and we see the real viktor behind the Herald. and only here jayce is able to show viktor his mistakes and make him realize the things he's done. likely this wouldnt be possible had viktor been completely gone.

and in the end, what colors are they bathed in together?

u can also think of it as- his most ideal body and form is with the goal of inhumanity, thus the more he loses of what actually makes him human directly influences what of his body he percieves to be perfect and therefore proud to show to the world

the blanket being the figurative idea of humanity and its literal idea of how much outwordly shown in his physical design:

him covering himself up near the beginning (flawed in his eyes) the blanket huge

and almost completely showing off and revealing his form in the end (perfect and ideal) the blanket now a mere ghost of what it once was, only a small part of him covered by it

I think that Viktor being asexual should honestly open the doors for way kinkier Jayvik fics. Hear me out now:

- Jayce tells Viktor that he wants to have sex in their relationship. Viktor, believing he understands completely, directs one of his robot minions to fuck Jayce. Now, Jayce has a great time, but he tells Viktor he wanted something *more*. Viktor decides to remedy this by sending *more* of his robots to fuck Jayce at the same time. Jayce says that actually, he wanted *Viktor* there, you know? So Viktor ends up standing there watching next time, putting his hand on Jayce’s chest as he peers over to get a better angle of observation. He leans down close and asks Jayce, who is getting railed within an inch of his life, how he should improve the robots’ programming. Jayce reaches over, holds Viktor’s hand, and says that actually, this is all he wanted.

- Viktor getting in a fight with Jayce, choking him and pinning him down. Initially Viktor has no idea how he’s affecting Jayce—but then he realizes and starts to be *strategic* about it. Now every time they fight, Viktor does things that Jayce finds incredibly hot, knowing that Jayce will get distracted from the fighting… while meanwhile, ace Viktor can stay in perfect control.

- Fic where instead of having sex, Jayce repairs Viktor’s wiring and it ends up being very sexually charged (I’ve read this fic already TBH)

- Fic where Jayce is injured in mid-s2, and Victor of course ends up “healing” him… which gives Viktor the ability to possess Jayce’s body. More intimate than sex IMO.

…the before and after is devastating actually

It reminded me of @discoedelysium ‘s post about how Viktor’s body language in the scene is a directly reflection of how much more confident he is now that he is inhabiting a body with no limitations; how he feels powerful, feels perfect, and is thus able to meet Jayce head on in a fight that is borderline flirtatious. How afterward—when Jayce rejects Viktor’s invitation to stand by his side, and he and Mel combine efforts to destroy the automaton—that all of his posturing crumbles and he shrinks down onto himself

(I will forever be sobbing over Viktor’s face here when Jayce uses his hammer blast against him like jfc)
