My new dude coworker is exactly fine. Significant improvement over the last two dudes we added to the team who were both godawful. I first met him a decade ago and had marked him down points for saying he didn’t believe there was a pay gap between men and women. But since then he’s gotten married and has definitely done some growing.

However. One day he comes in and starts telling me and our other coworker about how someone called him racist on Facebook. “I don’t hate black people!” he said in outrage.

I looked at our actually black coworker who was sitting there ignoring him, staring fixedly at her phone watching a movie. I sighed. He clearly wanted to be reassured by our coworker that he was in the clear.

“Look,” I said, “What that person meant is you have unexamined privelege. White people can be racist without being malicious because they don’t understand what people of color experience. You might have been racist in that moment without meaning to be.”

He did not like this sentiment. He wanted to be told he was a good white boy and forget about it. I desperately did not want to discuss color privelege like a couple of clowns with our black coworker sitting right there ignoring us but he wouldn’t be dropping it any time soon.

So I pivoted to personal experience, “I’m gay, right?” He nodded. “And as a queer person I’ve had people be homophobic without being malicious.”

“How does that even work? If someone’s homophobic they’re a dick.” This from a man who implied all anal sex was a queer act.

“No, see. This one morning at the jewelry store we were setting up for the day and putting jewelry on display and I was listening to my coworker talk about something shitty that had happened to her. Then another dude goes, ‘Oh that’s gay.’ And he didn’t mean it in a shitty way, but it was still blatantly homophobic to equate something being bad with the word gay, right?

“So I made eye contact and just stared at him. He realized he had a gay coworker right there and that his words were hurtful and immediately apologized.

“But he wasn’t trying to shit on me. He was homophobic in that one instance, but he wasn’t trying to be. Being white is the same way sometimes. You’re a dick on accident and you apologize and it was a racist moment that you grow past because it doesn’t define you.”

He turned this over a bit and conceded that it might be true but he didn’t like being called a racist which is bad and I just kinda checked out after that.

When he’d gone away I turned to my Jamaican coworker and said, “You really put up with a lot.”

She snorted and nodded emphatically, adding, “I’m just watching my movie, you can take care of him.”

As penance I entertained him for the rest of shift to let her watch her movie in peace.

MY SISTERS AREN’T DOING WELL!!

Soso is struggling to recover from chickenpox, her fever keeps coming back and the hot weather isn’t helping. We barely have any food to give her to help her immune system fight the disease. She’s too thin, too small and too weak for her age. She cries constantly from pain and hunger. Our other sister keeps fainting due to malnutrition.

We struggle to stay afloat due to the insane prices. $1,000 for 25kg of flour. $150 for 1kg of sugar. Fruits, vegetables and meat are hopeless. Hygiene products and medicine are a luxury.

I know we’re not the only ones asking and I know you guys are struggling too. I understand that. But please at least share if you see this. There are people out there who can afford to donate and I need to reach them!

if you casually and regularily download sims 4 cc or anything else from curseforge while blissfully ignoring all the people telling you why it's wrong and why curseforge sucks ➤ all the info is out there and if it isn't enough to convince you to stop i don't know what else to tell you but to eat dirt.

if you are a cc creator who uploads cc on curseforge exclusively ➤ patreon, sfs and so many other file sharing websites exist that don't actively fund a genocide and/or are based in a genocidal country. if you 'can't' do the bare minimum of changing platforms because you favor that sweet curseforge revenue so much i don't know what else to tell you but to eat dirt.

if you are a cc creator (especially one with a huge following) who already has a patreon, sfs account or uploads cc on any other file sharing website BUT also puts their stuff on curseforge and aren't mentioning this on your other platforms ➤ i don't know what else to tell you but that you're a callous coward who should eat dirt.

if you are a cc creator who tries to get us to download your stuff on curseforge by directing us to your patreon first only for us to find a curseforge link to be the only option to download ➤ stop trying to trick people and at least have the balls to be upfront about the trash website you chose to upload your cc to. i don't know what else to tell you but to eat dirt.

visit @verycursedstuff for curseforge exclusive cc, there's no need to visit the curseforge website at all. avoid it like the plague. i know that boycotting absolutely everything is next to impossible but leaving curseforge in the dust to rot isn't. again the info is there and if it isn't enough to convince you to steer clear of this awful website i'm not sure what will tbfh.

it's genuinely horrific how many cc creators are still on curseforge and i'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt anymore that they somehow still don't know how morally fucked up it is to continue to utilize this website. they very likely know and simply don't give a shit in favor of monetization or are supportive of genocide.

obviously curseforge is a comparatively small part of the problem but that only makes it that much easier to avoid.
