One of the things about writing that feels the silliest is when there’s a detail in the scene that the character doesn’t think is important but you know the reader will know it’s important because otherwise it wouldn’t be there, so you’re just sort of making eye contact with the reader over the character’s head and whispering “don’t tell them”

You'd think writing a chapter would make you one chapter closer to being done with a fic. You'd think that, wouldn't you??
But no, you are in fact 3 chapters further away.

Before Larry got isekai’d from the Real World, he was a tax accountant. His CPA license didn’t transfer over, and he prefers being a Gym Leader & E4 member enough that he doesn’t really miss it, but he’s still (reluctantly) willing to help the crater crew with filing their taxes for the first time.
Arven’s receipts are immaculately organized, and while he doesn’t really battle often enough to earn more than the standard deduction, the inheritance taxes from when the professor died end up being kind of a lot for Larry to sort through. Penny has been investigated for tax fraud in five regions, but she’s so good at cooking the books that nothing ever sticks. The one who’s actually in trouble is Nemona, who has earned more in battle winnings in the last year than Larry’s salary while keeping no records of any of it.

oh my god. i could write such a larry fic about this
how is battle revenue taxed in Pokemon
#finally someone’s asking the real questions#i feel like the real answer is it’s all cash and all small amounts below the standard deduction#so it doesn’t get taxed. it would be like taxing a child’s lemonade stand#but the comedic potential here is incredible and now i feel compelled to write it

"Why didn't they just communicate?? They're so stupid!" Have you considered that communicating with someone you love and value and don't want to hurt is scary and that vulnerability takes practice and that perfect characters with perfect words make the most boring stories of all

all day long it felt like thursday, and today my brain is just listlessly scraping along like a little victorian orphan going “oi mistah, spare some dopamine? spare dopamine, sir?”
yesterday was the first friday in over a year(?) that i haven’t posted something to AO3 and i swear to god it completely threw off the entire angle of my dangle

good smut is really a character study and that is final. i need it to be about vulnerability i need it to be about trust or lack thereof and most of all i need it to be emotional agony. thats what sex is for
