A small cc fix tutorial

Have you ever used some eyeshadows and thought "Oh cute this would look great with a chunky eyeliner on top" only to find that the eyeliner goes *under* the eyeshadow? Well, guess what you can now fix that!

Get yourself to s3pe and go into the casp tag of your eyeshadows and eyeliners. A normal overlay priority for eyeliner (based on my research) should be:

OverlayPriority: 0x00000082

Whereas the eyeshadow should be:

OverlayPriority: 0x00000064

HOWEVER! If you want to use eyeshadows with the basegame eyeliners you would want to set your eyeshadow priority to something like 0x00000030 which actually worked in my testing. (whoa the base game eyeliners are useful now).

Of course you could also get @potatobuttcheek 's default basegame eyeliner replacements but be aware you will have to change the overlay priority on them to (82).

If you go through your makeup cc and you see an overlay priority for eyeliners and eyeshadows with different values than the above, especially if your eyeshadow has an overlay priority of (82) then that eyeshadow will go on top of your eyeliner (no bueno). Here's how to fix it!

In this example the eyeliner has a value of 46 so it'll show up under the eyeshadow. Click on the Casp you want to change. Click Grid below which will bring up a window.

Simply change the values on the Overlay Priority then click Commit. That's it! Save your package (merged package in my case) and voilà!

Here's a picture of Ariana (by @cozygirlsimmer) with a Praline eyeshadow that was always overriding eyeliners and the after using a Gosik eyeliner on top that was always buried behind eyeshadows.

Here is an eyeshadow (by @sehmulated) which has an overlay priority of 0x0000005A (same as blush) that I manually changed to 0x00000030 for testing with a base game eyeliner.

Some tips for The Sims 3 Buy/Build

Install LazyDuchess’ Smooth Patch to alleviate lag, esp in Buy/Build and CAS.

Keep your CC merged and organized, esp your patterns, this will also alleviate a lotta lag across all modes.

When building on community lots, or any lot rlly, avoid going to the edit world menu, and just put testingcheats enabled into the cheat window, then shift+click the ground of the lot to enter Buy/Build mode. This makes leaving it to save a lot easier, with less “preparing” screens to possibly get hung up in.

Lower your settings, you don’t need any adjacent lots loaded, and you certainly don’t need super water on either. You can always switch these back on when you’re done.

While you’re at it, remove your HQ mod, and turn off your Reshade/Gshade preset, or at least turn off your depth shaders. I only ever turn on my depth shaders when I’m taking screenshots for better fps while playing. The DoF shader esp requires a lotta resources your game could be using to simulate all those 78 townie sims instead.

Save as… vs Save, I Save as… at least every third save. It’s also just good habit to keep backups.

When using the CASt tool, set down everything you plan to CASt first, then switch to a category like the wall tool to avoid eventual lag and drag when using it a lot. Love yourself. You don’t have to suffer using CASt tool in an overpopulated category like misc deco.

Utilize the clone option through testing cheats to duplicate already CASted objects, it’ll keep your design just like the dropper tool, but it’s a lot less time consuming, I promise.

Don’t be afraid to use the swatch save tool for objects you use often, esp community lot objects, as it helps to keep your aesthetic consistent. I also keep all of my favorite streetlamps, benches, and public trash bins etc in a convenient custom collection folder to speed up the process of doing multiple lots in one sitting. These handy tools are there, use them.

The issue with custom counters. They mess up sometimes, if you can’t recolor it suddenly, here’s how to fix that. Now if you can’t place down a cupboard suddenly, even though nothing’s in the way, and you’ve got moveobjects on activated, try putting it on the wall a tile over, and then try adding it to your desired spot again. Lastly if you set down counters or cupboards at a corner, and it messes up the textures, but you can still recolor it, you could do what the video I linked above does, or you could simply pull out the CASt tool, and switch it back to any of its original swatches and click the check, then feel free to recolor it as you want.

Railings will also do the “can’t recolor” trick too, but this is a simple fix, just delete it, and replace it, and you’re good.

“Oh no, I switched between buy and build mode, and now my catalogue won’t load, and I can’t click on anything at all!” Don’t panic, hit F2 and/or F3 on your keyboard, these are shortcuts for switching between them, and if you’re lucky it’ll load properly again. Should you get the bug where you load a category and it’s somehow empty, don’t fret, just click on a different category and this should fix it. Then if you get the bug where all the objects you put down disappear suddenly, sorry your game is haunted. Call an exorcist, or just reload, they might reappear if you do.

Tbh, if you run into any kind of major bugs, it’s likely a sign to either save immediately or just restart your game. These only ever show up when you’ve been at it a while ( at least for me ), therefore starting fresh wouldn’t hurt. Probably also wouldn’t hurt to check whether you might’ve installed something the game didn’t agree with by running Dashboard, or put it through the ol’ Save Cleaner.

Honorable Mention: Keep an eye on the texture sizes and poly counts of objects. I know it’s tempting to build these ultra hyperrealistic lots with clutter at every inch, but unless you’re just doing it for screenshots, or for your story, or using it very sparingly, it is not by any means recommended purely for gameplay. This is just the truth when it comes to any Sims game. You don’t want lag, or max memory crashes, or save errors? The Sims 3 is a 32bit game, that’s almost old enough to drive, be easy on it.

downloading from the exchange without a registered game account lol

writing up this little "guide" both so that I remember how to do this & also for those of you who don't know this little trick yet. this isn't just for the crowd who illegally obtained their game; some of us registered our games when we were 12 years old, don't remember our passwords and no longer have access to the email address we used for the account teehee anyways guide under the cut

I use google chrome, things might look a bit different if you use another browser but it should be pretty similar across the board I would imagine.

find what you want to download (this is a world. obviously), right click the page itself and press 'view page source' (or press ctrl + u if you're a shortcut gamer)

this opens a new page, next thing you're gonna do is press ctrl + f to bring up the search bar in the top right of the page. search sims3pack and it should bring back at least one instance (sometimes there are two, if there's multiple you can use either link; it's the same one I'm pretty sure)

highlight the link that ends in .sims3pack (don't include the quotation marks or anything else, you literally just want the link) and either copy + paste that into your address bar, or right click and press 'go to insert link here'. it should just start the download from there.

sometimes its a bit finicky and brings back an error page; usually switching users on google chrome or opening an incognito tab fixes this for me.

It's time to get nostalgic.

With this update of my Sims (2000) world, you can revisit every lot and every household from the Sims 1 in an open world experience in the Sims 3! This addition adds the Magic Town and Vacation Island area's, making this a complete Sims 1 world, that includes every Sims 1 neighborhood.

I apologize for the long delay in releases this update for this Sims 3 world. My real life has gotten very hectic, so it's been hard to make time for this project. I hope it was worth the wait and that you'll enjoy reliving the Sims 1 in this Sims 3 world.

This world was made with every Sims 3 expansion pack (except for Into The Future), in addition the the High End Loft and Town Life stuff packs. You can install the world even if you do not own all of these packs. But the save file (which includes all of the premade sims, ghosts and some fixes) can only be played if you have all of these packs installed.

To everyone who has installed and played the previous version of my Sims (2000) world: to install this version, you'll need to uninstall the old one. If you have an active save file with the previous (1st) version of this world, please backup any households and builds you want to save to your library. Because that save file will probably become unplayable after installing the updated world file.

I have one little request… If you know any other long time simmers, please share this project with them. I would love it if as many people as possible get a chance to enjoy this nostalgic experience <3

Also, if you enjoy setting up high quality screenshots, I'd love to see them and use them to promote this world.

I was having fun yesterday, just last night, with my mom and sister, and now everything is absolute hell. My mom almost died. She was completely unresponsive; I had to try to give her CPR until the EMTs arrived, and when they did, we all had to see a group of them trying their best to keep her alive, to keep her heart beating. Now, here we are in the hospital waiting to see if she's gonna be okay. I don't know what I'll do if she doesn't make it.

Another set that was sitting finished in my conversion folder, just needed the time and energy to upload it.

Found some CRAZY uvmapping errors that I had to fix manually to make the recolorability make sense - seriously, gem parts mapped on metal parts, ffs...

Crown is hat-slider enabled, forgot to put it into the preview.

I wanna support more simblr accounts despite have being retired from Sims role playing myself, especially since they're overshadowed by the Sims 4 nowadays. Melody Hills (aka the black girl from lots of CC previews)

I guess some of you guys noticed she often models cute CC, often wearing pink? Yeah, the fact she's a brown-to-dark skinned black girl with natural hair wearing very cute cottagecore / otome-kei / very femme looks in general is 100% intentional ;)

She doesn't keep the same name depending on the world I play with her. In Lago Simiore (whose save I gave up because the world is too much for my old desktop) her name is Alessandra

In my most recent playthrough with her in Wickery Glen (still called Melody) she's on the Science career and it's implied she's a botanist - I always let her garden, it's fun :) She also got a cute little greenhouse in her backyard :)

She likes girls. In fact, all of my sims are LGBT unless told otherwise

In the very rare cases I need to make thumbnails for chilfdren or toddler CC... yeah, the girls are aged down versions of her, called Mini Melody and Tiny Melody. Really :P

Those of you who enjoy historical CC would have been disappointed to notice that Acanthus Sims recently deactivated their Patreon and by extension, any working link to their package files. It would be a real shame to lose a catalogue of such gorgeous and detailed Rococo era CC, so I've been working alongside my fellow historical simmers to archive Acanthus' catalogue. You can access the master folder containing all collections on Sim File Share here or Google Drive here, or you can pick and choose by collection under the cut.

I've gone through all my posts that use their items and redirected the links to the new archive, but please let me know if I've missed any. If you know of any creators that have recolours of any of Acanthus' work feel free to direct them either to this post or to the archive.
