I have been to a lot of beautiful islands here in the Philippines - ones with clear blue water, white sands and amazing marine life but it always feels good to come back here. I immediately fell in love with this place during our first visit few years back. The vibe, the people, the food and most of all the beautiful sunset.

My jowa is married

Kat and I met in 2016, we were colleagues then. I remember her not liking me at first because she finds me "bratty" but as time goes by we became friends. We would always eat lunch together, take breaks together, go to the rest room together and so on. When our friendship was getting deeper that's when I had to leave the company. I thought that was also the end of it all but I was wrong because the moment our ways parted, that's when we became closer and more comfortable with each other. We would always chat and trust me when I say we talk about everything and anything under the sun, as in! I never knew someone as transparent as Kat and that’s what I admire about her. She always listens to my rants and stories without complaining. She always got my back. Sometimes she goes beyond her way just to have some quality time with me.

I've seen Kat hurt a couple times, heartbreak after heartbreak but she managed to give love another shot. I always tell her that whatever makes her happy, I'd support her. Her relationship with Adrian was something we didn’t see coming. Everything went by so fast and a lot had happened in a span of a year but I trust Kat. I know that whatever decision she has made, it is because she truly loves Adrian. When Kat told me that Adrian proposed to her, I didn't believe her, I thought she was only pranking me until she sent me her picture. It took me days to finally accept that my jowa is getting married soon. I’ve had mixed feelings, but more than anything, I am happy for her.

To Kat (my jows),

Remember when I asked you if I am deserving to be your maid of honor because I know you have lots of friends that you’ve known longer and have been with you more than I do that you might consider? But without a doubt you answered me “of course”. I don’t know what made you think that I am the best fit for the role but one thing I know is that I am truly humbled that you trust me this much. It’s a privilege to witness you getting married upfront. Jows, I am happy that you finally found your lifetime partner and so relieved that you no longer need to question your worth because from this day on, you will be filled with love. You looked so beautiful on that white dress. Congratulations and I pray you and Adrian have a wonderful married life ahead. I love you, jows!

Midnights is a wild ride of an album and I couldn’t be happier that my co pilot on this adventure was Jack Antonoff. He’s my friend for life (presumptuous I know but I stand by it) and we’ve been making music together for nearly a decade HOWEVER… this is our first album we’ve done with just the two of us as main collaborators. We’d been toying with ideas and had written a few things we loved, but Midnights actually really coalesced and flowed out of us when our partners (both actors) did a film together in Panama. Jack and I found ourselves back in New York, alone, recording every night, staying up late and exploring old memories and midnights past. We were so lucky to also work with our brilliant collaborators Sam Dew, Sounwave, Lana Del Rey, Jahaan Sweet, Keanu Beats, William Bowery, and Zoe Kravitz. Laura Sisk was our excellent engineer. The wonderful and wise Beth Garrabrant took the album photographs. Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. Which is out now
