Solid history of hikeware - and a lot of other beautiful history of beautiful people doing beautiful things, written by a magazine full of and for beautiful people.
If add that there was an era in Punk (with a capital “P”) in the ‘70s & ‘80s that featured a flourish of military chic - even leading to The Clash’s iconic cover of their masterwork Sandinista, and eventually to the release of their most popular album Combat Rock. Just more proof that military chic has been a thing forever - and that fashion seems to cycle and cycle.
Great work by the author - and well said!
Now if we could just get those dads to just wear uniforms and stay in the background, murmuring the worst puns and stupidest jokes as they laugh themselves to hypoxia, so the the kids can stay busybtaking over! As a dad myself, I know the danger of dadcore....

Audio
Fake or not, I'm a sucker for covers of this song....
David Bowie’s rare cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ by Joy Division.
A chance meeting in 1983 had David Bowie, Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook chatting away over beers in the Kings Arms in Salford. “…So we were all there just having a laugh and we joked that he should come n have a jam with us, then next minute - well, it was the next day actually, but i didn’t expect he’d definitely come by - and we were in the practice rooms and we were playing Love Will Tear Us Apart and I was like, f%$k we’re playing Love Will Tear Us Apart with David Bowie singing, this is crazy. We never released it - Bowie took a recording of it, and just layered some more vocals on for fun, sent it back to me…”

Audio podcast: Our exclusive interview with Ira Glass
Audio podcast: Ira Glass brings his stage show, which combines the anachronistic art forms of dance and radio, to the Buell Theatre for one night only on Saturday, Dec. 7.
By John Moore
"This American Life," hosted by Ira Glass, is heard each week by more than 1.7 million listeners on more than 500 radio stations around the world, with an additional 1 million listening to the online podcast version.
When given the opportunity to talk to such an iconic voice, you have to let the subject dictate the storytelling form. So I decided to use the occasion of a chat with Glass to resurrect my “Running Lines” audio podcasts, which topped 150 episodes back in 2007 when I worked for The Denver Post.
Words are nice, but you have to admit … when it comes to Glass, you really want to hear that voice. Only you get some visuals, too.

It's Back! One of Denver's most recently established treasures! Love these vignettes!

… I pretty much love you.
Yes, like the fat-tailed Dwarf Lemur waking from seven months of slumber in a Madagascarian tree hole, we have been woken by the inimitable Denver springtime. Your urban trees … just grow more prettily here. With your colorful kitted flowers and “Cat in the...
