valentine’s day | chinguline

Baekhyun

“Oh? What’s this?” Baekhyun asked with a smile. He took the little paper heart into his hands and turned it over, reading the scrawled writing. I love you Daddy!

“It’s Valentine’s Day,” Soonyoung explained. “Mama told me that you have to give gifts to the people you love.” He rocked back and forth on his feet and said when Baekhyun stayed silent, “Don’t worry, I gave one to Mama too.” 

Baekhyun grinned, swooping his son into a huge hug. “Thank you. I love you too, sweet boy.”

Chen

“Happy Valentine’s Day!” Chaeyoung chirped, holding out a bag of chocolates to Jongdae. 

“Thank you, sweetheart,” Jongdae grinned, peering into the bag. “Did you get this from school?” She nodded. “Don’t you want to eat the candy you got from your friends, though?” 

“It’s okay,” Chaeyoung said. “I got lots of candy at school, but Daddy doesn’t go to school anymore, so I should share since you don’t get as much.” 

Jongdae thanked her again, munching on some chocolate before calling his friends to brag about how adorable his daughter was. 

Chanyeol

“Okay ready? One. Two-”

“-three!” 

“Happy Valentine’s Day!” Chanyeol looked up from his laptop to see his two children holding out a plate of cookies. 

“For me?” Chanyeol asked, grinning widely as they set the plate in front of him. 

“Mama helped us,” Yuri said. “We wanted to show you how much we love you!”

Seokmin nodded enthusiastically. “They’re really good! I had two already.”

Chanyeol brought the kids in for a bear hug and sprinkled their faces with kisses until they were both shrieking with laughter.

“Daddy! Daddy!” Jisoo came running into the living room. In her hands was a little bouquet of dandelions and various wildflowers. 

“Are those for me, princess?” Kyungsoo asked, putting his book down. 

Jisoo nodded and giggled. “It’s Valentine’s Day, and my teacher said that people get the people they love flowers, so I picked these for you at recess.” 

Kyungsoo smiled at her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “That’s so thoughtful. You’re so sweet.” He took one of the flowers and tucked one behind her ear, laughing when she did the same to him.

As much as I love the romantic aspect of Valentine’s Day, I think expressing other kinds of love on that day is just as valid and important. 

Also I’m aware this is two days late but shhh
