Random Lucanis hcs

His love for Rook is a different kind of possession. Of course, love was always something he yearned for. He just didn't expect to be so utterly taken by it. Normally, there are activities he'd usually reserve for himself, but he finds himself still wanting Rook to be there with him. He knows he should trust Rook to take care of themself, yet there's an immovable uneasiness that's hard to banish that sits at the back of his mind. It causes him to be hyper-vigilant where he should be focused. Mierda. And he thought Spite was the only one he had to worry about.

Unexpectedly becomes somewhat acquainted with Antoine and Evka. At first, this was just him doing some reconnaissance for the contract. As time passes, the discussions shift. Antoine mentions his history as a servant in Orlais. Lucanis talks about the contracts he's taken there. Then Evka mentions how Antoine threw a sweet roll at a werewolf. Lucanis is perplexed and intrigued all at once. This may be his favorite couple. He walks away with some interesting vulgar Orlesian phrases to add to his logbook lmao

Due to Spite's influence, his sense of smell has become a lot more keen than he's used to. He's also developed a type of olfactory-visual synesthesia, where smelling something triggers him seeing certain colors. Of course, this makes cooking interesting. Citrus-based fruits have brightly colored scents. Non-citrus fruits have less vibrant colors to their scent. So on and so forth. This can be overwhelming, of course. Adds on to his already present achy eye problems. Luckily, this is only in effect an hour or two after using any of Spite's powers. It's longer lasting after Spite possesses him, willing or not.

Favors using his fingers/hands to pleasure Rook because he's able to focus on their every expression. There's nothing he enjoys more than to feel them fall apart. He's all about keeping eye contact during, as well. It's intense, and so, so loving. He looks at Rook as if they are the one holding him down and not gravity.

Lucanis's attentiveness definitely extends to the bedroom. Sometimes, he likes to play the part of an absent-minded lover. Why? Mostly to hear Rook beg and plead with him. Also, he likes being a little shit. It's hard to ignore his instinct to touch where he knows Rook likes to be touched, to kiss where they like to be kissed. It's worth seeing them pout and squirm, though!

He looks at them with a smirk he somehow manages to make look apologetic. "Forgive me. It's nice to hear you complain, sometimes."

While Lucanis appreciates when Rook is so adamant on gaining his explicit consent whenever he wants to take the lead, he's intent on showing Rook he isn't made of glass. Sometimes, it works out great. He delights in discovering which spots make Rook sigh in pleasure, which spots make them reach an earth-shattering end. However, there are times when it leads to him biting off more than he can chew. He gets overwhelmed, touch-averse, and isn't content with the idea of sex for a while. Even here, the Ossuary is still something that haunts him, and it frustrates him greatly.

Verena and her longtime friend, Crow, are Crows of the de Riva and Cantori houses, respectively. They also perform at the Opera house, either as a duo or individually. Their connections they gain from these performances sometimes allow them to be privy to certain information, which makes them excellent informants.

Far as the beginning quest goes, Rook is contacted by Teia. The missive contains tickets to the opera and instructions to meet Verena at the opera house to discuss what needs to done about the gods and whatnot. On their way there, some cuchillo house crows are attempting to disrupt things. Rook and the gang stop them.

They go inside the opera house and watch Verena's performance. Rook goes backstage to meet her, fiddling with stuff they've got no business fiddling with. Namely Verena's vanity. Verena sneaks up on them, tells them to be careful. That perfume bottle might have poison in it lmao. She thanks them making sure the show didn't get interrupted. Perhaps they share a bottle of wine. There's some dialogue about Rook being curious about how Verena goes about Crow Business and being an opera singer. Then they get to the topic of the gods and whatnot.

The outing would be Verena asking Rook to assist her and Crow with tending to some young fledglings and their wounds. They can discuss some things that pretty much boil down to "hey the Crows are fucked up aren't they?" lmao

Crow is a Qunari that was raised under the Qun for most of his younger childhood until he was taken to Treviso. He hasn't abandoned the Qun, however. Rook can ask if Crow was around, why was it that Rook had to take care of that mess the other day? Crow laughs and say that he wouldn't miss Verena's performance for the world lol. He talks a bit about how he was meant to be a maradim, a battlefield healer. Verena approves if Rook asks Crow more about him.

Rook can also ask if Verena follows the Qun. She doesn't, but she's always open to hearing Crow talk about it (even if he can get a bit long-winded). And this is where Rook can learn a bit more about her. About how she was raised with a dwarven family until she was 12 and joined the Crows. She doesn't into her reasons why. She disapproves if Rook presses her.

Afterwards, Verena and Crow treat Rook and the kids to a meal at a restaurant.

If Minrathous is saved and Treviso blighted, Verena and Crow are helping with gathering the fallen due to the dragon attack. Rook is welcome to help, but Verena is a lot less warm.

If your Rook had a little Companion Outting (like picking up news with Neve, or fixing artifacts with Bellara) what would it be? What's would your Rook's first chill hang be if they were a companion?

a different kind of poison

Viago de Riva doesn't think of himself as a strict mentor. There is simply an order to things and those who train under him must follow accordingly. He has faith that the newest member of his house understands this, but said faith wavers as the sun rises steadily in the early morning sky. She is late—he knows this to be true.

He also knows that it is unusual for her to be late.

Even so, his irritation outweighs his concern. Last night, a celebration was held in her honor. To welcome a new addition to House de Riva, Teia had said. Perhaps she encouraged the younger woman to enjoy herself a bit too much, despite his warning that training would still be at the regular time. Scowl on his face, Viago grabs his walking stick. He thinks it might be time for a rude awakening. He'd teach his recruit what happens when she keeps him waiting.

Her room isn't too far from his office. He knocks three times, waits a few moments. Knocks again. When he doesn't get a response, he steels himself then opens the door. For a short, fearful moment, he's afraid that he's went too far with the poison training regimen and killed her. His gaze is frantic as he searches for the younger Crow. She is very much alive, much to his relief. The tension in his shoulders loosens a bit when he finds her on her bed roll. Why she favors that over the actual bed next to it, he doesn't know, but that's beside the point.

She's laying on her back, clutching her stomach in pain. Viago sucks his teeth. Not even a day as a de Riva and she acts as though his training is a suggestion.

He's ready to launch into a litany about the importance of testing food before she eats it until a terribly thunderous sound erupts from her. A ferocious stench follows, assaulting his nostrils—damn near more potent than any poison then he can brew up. He brings a gloved hand up to cover his mouth and nose while rushing to open the windows in the room.

"Verena Zuleima de Riva," he grits out through his clenched teeth, not wanting to inhale the foul remnants of whatever is brewing in her bowels.

"…Yes?"

"What did you have last night?"

A guilty sounding groan ekes past her lips. "Cacio e pepe."

It must really say something that Viago, of all people, has to recall that he is a grown man. He is not —not even for a moment—smirking underneath his hand right now. There is nothing amusing about his protégé being waylaid by cheese. As a matter of fact, he should go. This did not happen, but…he shall remember this.

After all, he won't ever let her live this down as long as he lives.

Beautiful like happiness

This started as something else but it surprised me with that turn in the end, so I'm gonna use this to answer to a couple of asks:

@wolfsong-the-bloody-beast requested "Hello! One for the "Questions for your Rook and their partner," thing. Number 1 sounds cute, I think. :D "Does your Rook fall for their partner at first sight? If not, what moment made your Rook realize they're in love with them?"

I need another comic for the stroked out part, lol, have faith :) And:

Not exactly "The One" maybe, but this is the first time she thinks "I love you" out loud in her head.

I had another headcanon for that moment, it should have been when Davrin used her real name the first time, probably in the morning waking her up by bringing her breakfast, on the whole "Davrin is a caretaker" theme. But actually I think Davrin starts to call her Ayanne before they get to that point, and when I drew this comic I didn't have that last panel in the script, but it came so natural and I just couldn't take it away somehow. So, be it :)

It still makes sense for Ayanne. She doesn't have like a big epiphany moment that make her discover she's in love. It's something that grows everyday, in the little things, quiet moment of happiness, an unexpected compliment, being comfortable enough with each other to be able to laugh during sex <3

And yeah yeah, I know Davrin is a sex god and I know it's not that hard to manage long hair, but grant me some little exaggerations for the sake of the story, will you? :)
