Ways to Improve Online (White-People) Recipes

If it asks for garlic, add that much ginger, and twice that much garlic.

If it asks for cinnamon, add 1 1/2 times as much cinnamon, and a small amount of nutmeg. If the MAIN flavour is cinnamon, also add a small amount of cloves and allspice.

If it asks for vanilla, also add a SMALL amount of almond extract. (Usually up to a few drops.)

If it asks for onions, also add some garlic, but add it 1 minute before you're either done cooking, or you add liquid

If the spices are pretty much only oregano or parsley, add both, as well as a small to medium amount of basil, thyme, summer savory, tarragon, and/or marjoram (the earlier two are great in beef, chicken and tomato dishes, while the others are good with pork, chicken, most vegetables, and pretty much anything else you can think of with a 'lighter' flavour)

if it asks for cheddar or mozzarella cheese, also add a bit of feta and parmesan

My grandmother is 92 years old and has had her second ischemic stroke in 6 weeks this morning. The first time she had one was the end of May. No one told me this until yesterday, but upon this happening she was placed in hospice care. She's in the care of my aunt, who has cancer which has metastasized. She's all the way in Louisiana and I haven't seen her in about 6 years. I'm at a loss. My mom is just... constantly in denial about the weight of the situation and acts as though nothing is really happening or acts clueless when I say we need to prepare or that my siblings and we need to get together. Like, she asks "how come" and it's extremely frustrating and unnerving because this has been a long time coming and I don't know how she will react or cope if her mother's time does come before the year or even the summer's end. and this is a lot for me because my paternal grandfather passed away shortly after his 95th birthday last July and dealing with those back to back would. Really. Suck. I need to see her. I don't know how. I'm trying not to fall apart. She's incoherent, frightened, and helpless. She doesn't recognize her daughter and grandchildren who are her caregivers. No one understands her. Her deterioration appears to have been rather sudden; it was manageable before but now her quality of life is steadily declining. I need to see her. I don't have anyone to talk about this with at all. I'm just broken. I don't know the ripple effects that will emerge as a result of her passing, should it happen sooner or later. I literally just want to be with her, and tell her how much I love her.
