with my stress level reduced, as well as certain routines practiced, it's got easier for me to deal with some aspects of ocd.

my anxiety about turning the lights off, locking the doors, washing my hands etc is on the lowest pont it's ever been in my life, I think.

I also rarely have physical sensations now unless triggered by someone else's.

scrupulosity tho? I'm afraid I will never be able to get rid of it.

LOOKISM ANIME RAMBLE 🍵 (P. 1/???)

☄.⊹ to be honest, I've been putting off the anime for a hefty while cause...I didn't have the time to watch it hehet~ (⁠•⁠ ⁠▽⁠ ⁠•⁠;⁠) °: ｡bUT I DID!! And here's some of the thoughts I wanted to share!

fair warning this contains loads of rambling hahah! And also spoilers if you haven't watched the anime (although it's just a re-addaptation) though, you can scroll pass if you aren't interested! I don't mind at all khukhukhu~

☄.⊹ first off, I didn't expect it to be dubbed in korean! Big props to the VAs for doing such a great job huhuu ꒰⁠⑅⁠>w< ꒱⁠˖⁠♡ I was so excited to hear their voices!!! And each one fits them so well!! I gotta say though, I instantly fell in love with zack waaaaaa !!!! my Q-tip boyyy ꒰⑅>♡<꒱⁠˖ﾉ 💕💕💕

☄.⊹ although his current new hairstyle looks rreeeeeaaaallly really good on him, I also miss his slicked back primp and propper look (chuckles) such a cutie (⁠๑•⁠ᴗ⁠•๑⁠) and mind y'all he looks good in here—like, not even kidding right now. Have you seen him???

(mwah) Gorgeous. Also drunk zack was super cute too hhhnnnnnnnn ～⁠(⁠つ⁠ˆ⁠Д⁠ˆ⁠)⁠つ⁠｡⁠☆

☄.⊹ not to mention we get to actively see his character development here as well which was (mwah) magnifique, chef's kiss 🤌🏻✨

☄.⊹ the whole vibe of the series just really takes me back to early lookism when I first started reading the manhwa ｡⁠:ﾟ⁠(⁠;⁠ㅠ//∩⁠//ㅠ;⁠)ﾟ⁠:⁠｡ waaaaaaaaa I really miss it!!

☄.⊹ it's so refreshing to see a series I love so dearly come to life and being animated as well, and it captures the essence of ‘lookism’ so well ughhh this is legit what I live for!! I love the concept and representation of social stigmas in society as well and the people who worked on this clearly did an amazing job of fitting that atmosphere. (Dare I say I shed some tears mid-way whenever danny and his mom were on screen)

☄.⊹ speaking of danny and his mother—I found a scene where it just,,, speaks to me for some reason.

☄.⊹ okay so I know this is just mrs. park saying that she wants ‘daniel’ to get along with her daniel—but this quote really adds another level of endearment to the scene. It's a sort of message to daniel himself that he should also treat his other half like how he would treat his friends. kind, sincere, pure, loved.

☄.⊹ although not spoken much in recent arcs in chapters, daniel has this layer of self hate + doubt towards himself. Hearing this from his own mother, saying that he ‘needs’ it—just shows how much she deeply understands him more than she leads on. He needs it. She knows it. Even before she knew that he was being bullied, she never mentions it to him directly since we know from early chapters, danny tends to keep quiet about anything involving his school life.

☄.⊹ but a mother knows her children, she knows how hard it must've been for him to be born and raised in poverty, how he'd probably often isolate himself from other kids in fear of being made fun of, his struggle to actually build a propper relationship and kinship with kids his age due to his appearance. She blames herself for not being able to provide well for him, so she's never set any expectations on him. Oh god hold on y'all I might cry—

☄.⊹ that's why when she knew about how her daniel actually has a friend + roommate—which is himself technically speaking but you get the gist)—she was absolutely overjoyed by the thought that her son was living well despite being away from her supervision. She hopes that daniel would finally be able to find joy in himself through others, which is why she tells big danny to get along with him.

☄.⊹ to me this quote speaks about self love on Daniel's part, which we see gradually grows as the story progresses. Spoilers in the last scene of the last episode which made me literally bawl my eyes out where little danny hung up polaroids in his room with pictures of him and his classmates and J-high, all leading up to him patching up a self portrait of his little body and big body and i just—uehheuageughhhhEugHeughughh ༼⁠;⁠´⁠༎ຶ⁠ ⁠۝ ⁠༎ຶ⁠༽

☄.⊹ you’d think that having two bodies—one undeniably more alluring than the other—would invite vanity, even greed. That someone in his place would cling to the beautiful one, wear it like armor, and use it to carve a place in the world that never saw him before. but not daniel. danny, in his quiet way, begins to understand that beauty is not the only thing worth holding. over time, he learns to care for himself—not just the body that draws eyes, but the one that carries his truest self. he begins to see himself, not as halves or contradictions, but as a whole being worthy of tenderness. through trial, silence, and aching nights, he starts to acknowledge the boy beneath the glamour. And slowly, impossibly, he learns to love that boy. to love himself—entirely, courageously, and without condition.

☄.⊹ and honestly, that’s the truth I wish lookism would carry with unwavering consistency—the idea that to be loved is to be seen. Not for the angles of your face or the shape of your body, not for the way you move through a room or how closely you resemble someone else’s ideal. But for the human that exists beneath it all—the soul beneath the skin, the voice behind the mask. It’s a quiet, relentless struggle, one that so many live through each day. We are judged for the way we look, the way we speak, the way we dare to exist outside the lines drawn by others. We are measured against standards that miss the heart entirely. And yet, none of those things—none of them—define who we truly are. In the end, what matters is the self we carry in silence, the person waiting patiently to be seen not with eyes, but with understanding.
