His singular orb stares curiously at the door before them. His mind quickly racing to analyze the situation before them. His eye darts over to the console beside the door, tracing down it's base to the ancient piping that runs from it's bottom. His head follows it. The Al Bhed lazily turning on his heels as he continues to follow the lines.

Gippal arrives at a nearby console. The closest of the three lines. He places his hand upon it and a glyph lights up. Some kind of Yevon symbol maybe?
(Truth be told he didn't know any of them.)
"I'm guessing the other consoles activate the door. We probably have to activate them in some sort of sequence."

Blondes, brunettes, red heads, silverettes, blue hairs.... the list went on and on. He certainly had a thing alright. He missed this Paine. The one that had a sense of humor. To think, they had drifted so far apart after everything they had been through. It was inexcusable really. Their mission was a rather hopeless one. Damn their friends for being self righteous. Talking either of them out of abandoning their posts to go on a giant adventure around Spira would most certainly be impossible. They had faced the impossible before though, and come out on top.
So why was this any different?

"Better to just not talk to Brother, at all."
The Machinist had a hard time stomaching his fellow Al-Bhed. A rarity really given the closeness that his people often shared. He wouldn't bore her with the details of it. It was a long time ago. Whatever thing that he and Cid's girl had shared was ancient history as far as he was concerned.
He was fairly sure that ship just like the one they were on, had sailed.
As that singular swirling orb peered out at the landscape before them, he couldn't help but share her sentiment. He knew why Nooj chose this place. It's defensive position was impeccable. Always the strategist. Nooj was a genius in that regard. He had kept them alive on more than one occasion. That in mind, the Al-Bhed turned on his heels and began making his way toward the controls.
"Probably best to play it cool with New Yevon and the Youth League. We're friends but they both might shoot us out of the sky if we make too much noise."
He can't help but shake his head as he takes a seat at the controls.
"Hope you got a real convincing speech thought up P. We're gonna need one. Go ahead and get buckled in. I'm gonna land us down in the Valley. We'll walk our way up to the fortress."
a soft huff, and a sore excuse for a laugh, escaped her nose. "Really? I thought you had a thing for blondes?" it was a light jab, a small joke if anything. she didn't expect either of them to get anywhere with flirting, though she wouldn't put it past Elma to get flustered enough for them to make a gritty escape if needed. Lucil was the one they would need to get past.
as for the Yevon clergy, they would just have to deal with that when the time came. they couldn't exactly bundle Baralai up and escape through a window. or maybe the could. time would tell.
a derisive snort came out of her nose next. that much was true. whether it was because of Rikku and Gippal's past exploits or something else, Brother did have a particular hatred of her companion. she had never wanted to know too many of the details, Brother's antics were just as bad as when he got ranting. sometimes a good point or two slipped through, but for the most part, Paine wanted to stay away from his ramblings.
"I think he'd rather see the airship crash and burn before letting you ride it, but point taken." at least if it crashed, Brother had a chance at repairing it. she could say what she wanted about the rest of his behaviour, but at the end of the day, he was a skilled mechanic. Paine couldn't deny him that. he'd throw a fit if he found out who was helping her drive. "Better to ask for forgiveness than permission, right?"
the landscape below them changed, from greens with a hint of blue to browns with a hint of blue and yellow. the landscape around mushroom rock was always so drab compared to the rest of Spira. it was little wonder why Nooj had chosen to set up the Youth League here. though Paine knew the real reason why, she sometimes liked to think the league added a splash of colour to the surrounding area.
"I think we're coming up. Shall we make a grand entrance or should we take this chance to sneak our way in?"

Gippal offers her an earnest smile. He couldn't teach her a life time of mechanics in one day. He felt it best to start small. Show her the processes. Let her enter in some commands. It would all come together in time.
"I've been taking things apart since I was old enough to walk Yuna. It's dangerous business working on stuff like this when you don't have the experience. Better to start small. Easy stuff. Helps get your confidence up, stuff like that."
A single finger comes up then, booping the former summoner on the nose playfully. He was nothing like Brother. Thankfully she didn't voice that comparison out loud. For obvious reasons the two of them didn't see eye to eye on much of anything.
Gippal was charismatic, suave, and successful. Brother was.... well.... Brother.
The machinist brings his hand up to his chin then. His head canting to the side as he ponders her words for a few moments. With a snap, he casually wags his finger toward her for a second or two before turning on his heels with a bit of flare. "Tell ya what. I think I got an old Mech Guard in temple somewhere that doesn't work. How about I get some tools out and let you take it apart... see what makes it tick."
He looks back over his shoulder then, to see if he's perhaps gained some form of her approval.
"Whatcha say to that, Sound good?"
"Huh?" That was it?
Head tilts to the side as her palid soft features contort into a confused demeanor. "Um. Gippal? I feel that I've…not entirely contributed." Which was true. All she did was enter codes into a terminal; codes that had already been typed up, printed for other al bhed to copy and paste into the system and upload them into machines.

Yuna hadn't exactly touched a machine…yet.
As far as the new nickname went; another for the roster, it seemed. It brought a smile to her face.
The former summoner could only stand and speculate his methods. Gippal was awfully laid back for a leader. A stark contrast to Brother—not that she complained. At the very least, he had a plan for her.
True, Yuna wanted to delve deeper into her lineage and get in touch with her roots, but she didn't expect, well, this. "Are you sure this is teaching me anything?" hands clasp behind her back as she innocently looks up at him.
