I saw it a while ago, but I can’t stop thinking of how hard the pre show music at Oh, Mary goes. The transition from Patti’s Latin from Manhattan into Bernadette’s Chico’s Girl took me out
The show was stopped for 25 minutes for them to reset a set piece that didn’t work, and I got to be the subject matter expert for my section about what was wrong lol
Ben Rimalower is my personal ally for saying to Bernadette that her recording of Johanna is "one of [his] favorite all-time Sondheim recordings" and inciting her to say "the words and the notes of 'I feel you' is so intimate and beautiful"
It's been nine months, but the day has finally come.
Amusingly (to me at least) I happened to be at the same play as Ben last night and had the thought that if I was a different person I'd ask when the Bernadette episode was gonna happen.
And re the Rimalower podcast I logically know he won’t get Bernadette but I want it sooo bad :/
If anyone remembers where Bernadette is trying to remember Laurie Beechman’s name (I think because she’s trying to talk about the theatre but idk for sure) and says like “who was that beautiful girl” just lmk because I can’t think of it and it’ll bother me until I remember :/
New favorite video. This to me is everything great about Fran. Like talking about her connection to the piece, going back to childhood, and this confronting idea that she could feel so eager for an experience and these girls she was transfixed by would be having this completely opposite moment.
