To my countrymen experiencing hardship & career loss, I stand with you. Regardless of where you stand politically, I consider the cold callous shuttering of your federal positions & the financial uncertainty it has thrust upon you, unacceptable & un-American. The political chasm that seems to divide us, doesn’t change the truth; that we’re navigating this turbulence together, on the same ship. Your loss is my loss, it is the country’s loss. Stay strong, TOGETHER as a people, we will endure.

In remembrance of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz & in hopes that we will heed the warning, let me share this quote from Auschwitz survivor ~Primo Levi; “Monsters exist, but they are too few in number to be truly dangerous. More dangerous are the common men, the functionaries ready to believe and to act without asking questions.”

It’s imperative that we protect the Department of Education. Equality of opportunity in education, critical thinking, scientific literacy, independent secular education are what have made this country great. Strengthening the minds of our children will keep our democracy alive & their futures bright. Attacks to undermine the DOE are mainly for the financial benefit of the affluent, not for the benefit of our children.

The ideals our constitution embodies, must be actively safeguarded by each generation to prevent the erosion of democracy. Nothing is more important. Without these, the United States of America ceases to exist. When the promise is broken, “we the people” are no more.
