Week5 - Activity1

I chose this font from San serif which is called, ‘The Queen’. This font has different cap-height between two capital letter. Normally, the if the letter T, H uses as capital, then the height should be the same. However, here they emphasise more in T, then H, so that gives strong image on ‘The’ ‘Queen’. In my opinion, it would be nice to use in the newspaper headline or article which need people’s attention.

Next font that I prefer from Serfi font is ‘Adam’. Especially, this has no cross-bar, which appears more uniqueness to me as well as give more attention to the fonts. I believe this fonts can be used in fashion magazine to introduce new collection. Secondly, this font has very round counter. It also makes the font look more freedom. Lastly, the thin stroke of stem, arm, shoulder is very even which also provide people to feel satisfying. Besides, the width of ‘A’ is a little wider than letter ‘d’, ‘a’, ‘m’, yet it has good length of width that harmonise with the rest of letters.

Week3 -Activity 1

Primary colour - It has strong yellow and red color around the sun with blue ocean, which makes perfect three combination of primary colour.

Secondary colour - With a three main colorful autumn tree and leaves are in secondary colour category. 

Teritiary colour - The colors combined with primary colour and secondary colour that are light green, pink, purple and others are found in those massive vibrant wood.  

Analogous colour - Similar colour group connected to each in color wheel are represented in that pink, red, orange, yellow tulip area. 

Complementary colour - Black and white are the most contrast and opposite color among all colors, which shows in the picture with the moon and surrounding clouds.

SIMILARITY It is hard to find the similarity in this image, rather it seems the artist drew a real fantasy place in one of European countries.

CONTINUATION It has a continuity from the ground to the sky where the figure rides his magical broom stick on. It makes feel he is going toward his wonderland. 

CLOSURE There is nothing special element of closure in this image.

PROXIMITY Proximity is also not exactly expressed in this painting.

FIGURE AND GROUND Figure and ground is not necessarily appear in this image. Since there is no silhoutte or form which make people perceive as background. However, the old architectures makes this background is real in specific place. 

REFICATION The only refication that I can find in this image is mysterious smoke from his feet which is not actually there, but the dots and line is enough make people reckon  there’s a flame in there.

Week2 - Activity1

SIMILARITY The stairs in three different dimension has similarity in this image. Besides, people in the picture looks assemble, in terms of face and body without eyes, nose or mouth.  

CONTINUATION It has contiunation on stairs surrounding on the image that are towards to other directions. 

CLOSURE There is not specific closure in here.

PROXIMITY Two proximities can be recognised in this image. Firstly, the blank people that are moving each directions are the one. Secondly, the main three stairs which can be grouping from this painting has proximity as well.

FIGURE AND GROUND There are human figures in the dorm shape door/window in the right down side and left upper side. The outside background make people feel that is not indoor place. It has people, tree and others that can easily notice this is an outside scene.

REFICATION It has good refication in terms of three dimension stairs as in harry potter moving stairs.This is not one direction, it leads to person going up and going down because of 3D effect.

Week1 - Activity2

First font, ‘Vogue’, is somehow plain yet, I like design because the shape of bowl and strike that are very simple but elegant. It’ll suits to Magazines or Articles to stand out and purely make readers focus on the title. Besides, the apex on each words has fine horizontal line which makes letters neat and chic. 

Next typography that I liked is called, ‘Sketch 3D’. The reason why I like this is because it has a good background shadow with full of lines which fills shadow counters. In addition, the angle of each letters is slightly tilted gives playful. I reckon this typography would be applicable with kids toys or books. 

Last but not least, I would like to share this font ‘Cute Meow’. As a cat-lover, I thought this was creative in terms of every shapes in each letters that embeded cats face, movements or even footsteps. I like not only the thickness stroke style but rounded part of words really matches with the cute cat symbols!

Week1 - Activity2

I chose the font, ‘Nocker’ as dislike among other typography is because the spiral inside of ‘n’ isn’t balance with the character itself. In terms of consistency, when I looked at the shape of bowl ‘n’, gave me a feeling that the right side of hairline is too curly. Additionally, this font has only dot which might not have enough strike to fill the shape of characters, such as ‘o’, ‘g’ or ‘a’. 

Secondly, font named ‘Again’ hasn’t much consistency in regard to circles inside in most of the letters. It has two circles in it in the letter, ‘o’, ‘p’, and ‘g’ here, however, in the letter ‘n’ and ‘a’ and ‘i’ has slightly different shapes, which seems c on it. Furthermore, the character ‘a’ seems hard to find as ‘a’ due to wide aperture, which may occur confusing to notice the letter ’a’.

Lastly, the font ’2 September’ that I prefer not to use it is because the letter first part ‘no’ and last part ‘pain’ and ‘gain’ seem to be imbalance. If the size with the two letter equal, then the consistency of typography would be better. However, I don’t personally like  the style, because the ‘i’ between the alphabet ‘a’ and ‘n’ has a different counter size as well as there is not much similar stem or shape of bowl in the letter itself.
