Every time I use the bathroom or wash my hands or body, I am reminded of the luxury that is running water. That is water, food, a home and the safety to even live such a life in. There are some people that are not so fortunate, and that includes the people of Gaza. Mohammad and Basma are one such family. Donate if you can, share if you will not 🙏🏾 @yazanfamilly

sometimes people experiencing psychosis and/or mania will come up to you on the street and talk in confusing or upsetting ways. your job is to either have a regular human-to-human conversation with that person or politely leave. your job is not to call 911. do not call 911. you might kill that person if you call 911.

What we’ve gotta understand is that “the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for adults” and “the modern Internet is abolishing space for children” are compatible phenomena. Neither group is being favoured: the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for adults (i.e., because grown-up topics aren’t advertiser friendly) and the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for children (i.e., because online communities which consist principally of people who have no money are hard to sell things to). The Internet that contemporary corporate interests are trying to build isn’t a space for anyone – it’s the digital equivalent of an Ikea showroom.

This is our reality today—a picture that captures the pain of an entire nation, including my own family who lost everything and continues to lose more. The innocent eyes of our children hold the purity of the world, yet around them joy is mixed with sorrow, laughter with tears, airplanes with falling homes, and barbed wires with broken dreams. It feels as if they are saying: we are caught between life and death, between hope and despair, between a fading smile and an uncertain future.

"Connecting health with identities and then allowing society to abuse or dispose of people deemed unhealthy or undesirable is a slippery slope. What's waiting for you at the bottom?" -Shanspeare
"Invoking preexisting conditions or comorbidities in this way suggests that a person's death is somehow 'natural' or 'unavoidable' or the product of a mixture of 'destiny' meets 'biology,' rather than the explicit policy of siege and famine being imposed as a condition of genocide. When you see the death of a starving Palestinian being reframed in terms of 'preexisting health issues' ... the crucial question to ask someone trying to make that contextual reframe is: if food, medicine, and adequate care had been available, would this person almost certainly be alive, and would another person under these conditions be facing the same fate?" -Beatrice Adler-Bolton, "Can the Subaltern Starve?" Death Panel Podcast
"Health, then, for Palestinians, is inextricable from the ongoing Israeli settler-colonial project of dispossession and erasure and from the capitalist policies and practices that undergird that project in Palestine, in refugee camps, and in diaspora communities. This includes the complicity of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in political repression and security coordination with the State of Israel. This is not to say that settler colonialism is a social or political determinant of health. Rather, it is to say that settler colonialism precedes and is fundamental to all other determinants of health—be they clinical, economic, social, or political. Settler colonialism is woven, in ways both known and unknown, into these determinants. In its direct attacks on us and on the environments in which we live and seek care, settler colonialism distorts our relationships with our bodies." - Danya Qato, "Introduction: Public Health and the Promise of Palestine" Journal of Palestine Studies Vol. 49 No. 4-Summer 2020

The weird intersection between fatphobia, sexual puritanism and fake progressiveness that breeds the idea that a skinny person attracted to fat people is a "chubby chaser" or a "fat fetishist" and not just like. Someone who has the hots for fat people. The idea that only another fat person could be attracted to fat people, otherwise it's sinister. Secretly you think any skinny person who'd want to fuck a fat person is debasing and devaluing ourselves, but you've pivoted into pretending you worry about a fat person's dignity.

as if forcing its users to send photos of ID to confirm we're not children, youtube is pulling this insane shit:

go blow this shit up, seems to be because it's from a country where the currency conversion rate is super inflated, and youtube just pockets the majority of the money

I understand the "I will die for you" ship dynamic, but what about the "I will not let you die, I will not let myself die- we will, at any cost, survive" kind of couple?
