this idea has been on my mind since the latest G Fantasy cover dropped..i just had to draw it XD

i do think it needs to be said more often that sebaciel's dynamic has a deep melancholy to it that is disguised by the fact the series has so many conflicts and other characters because when you think about just them, they're trapped playing roles that they can't escape. roles that they've created for each other, o!ciel wouldn't be earl ciel phantomhive if not for the demon that appeared before him that day and sebastian wouldn't be the butler sebastian michaelis if not for the little boy that summoned him into this world.

they defined each other. they're destroying each other. they are melting into each other.

never getting over how elizabeth says the "ice king" (sebastian) kidnapped ciel and trapped his heart and he says "my my kidnapping makes me sound like an awful person, he came to me himself" (paraphrase) then proceeds to yell "go home daughter of the sun" to lizzy which is hilarious because the real snow queen by hans christian andersen doesn't have anything like that in it. gerda never argues with the snow queen over kai but sebs is just insane i guess . god i love them

i think the hottest look you can give someone after they commit acts of unspeakable violence is approval. like don't get me wrong if there's lust there too that's great, but staring at someone with gore dripping down their chin and coating their hands to the wrists with undisguised appraisal and admiration. maybe giving them a little nod as if to say 'well done'. THAT'S what says "yeah we're gonna fuck nasty later".

i think we as a society need to start accepting that fictional love stories need to be a bit toxic for us to go insane over them… like, sometimes you kinda need the two parties to be obsessed with each other and fucked up and willing to bring each other back from the dead instead of moving on and go to therapy i’m sorry😔

It’s possible I’m just exhausted and midnight brained and none of this makes sense but I want to lie on the ground and make someone listen as I talk for three hours about Black Butler’s theme of trauma + specifically the way it intersects with identity (the remaking of the self in the wake of trauma because you are no longer the person who existed before the trauma AND the question of who is societally expected/permitted to survive traumas and what responses to those traumas they are expected/permitted to have) + specifically SPECIFICALLY Sebastian’s self-denial of his own growing emotions as an example of an entity that isn’t permitted to experience complex emotions around trauma

We can get real fucking deep talking about the dual function of Sebastian in the narrative as the anthropomorphization of Ciel’s trauma response and as a complete character in his own right (something something……… things that aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive if we view Sebastian’s character growth as a manifestation of Ciel being forced to come to terms with the fact that he has grown and changed past his defining nadir; that he cannot stay consumed by nothing but anger and pain indefinitely; that despite everything other people and things have become entwined with his life in ways he cares about)

I hate when people mischaracterize Ciel, ESPECIALLY when they act like he has no agency of his own, so I’m just going to leave this here

Have you considered that it is a narrative tool being used because of who we have as our main protagonist? That we are viewing human pain, suffering and fragility in this light as we take the lense of the narrator, and are given the scene through the eyes of a devil? To see 'the pleasures of a demon'?

Have you not noticed that the sensuality of pain and torment is also shown in reference to other characters (i.e. Beast & Seiglinde's mother) where we view the scene through Sebastian's perspective? Or that Ciel's own trauma is not shown in this same light when remembering it himself?

Did Yana herself not previously say that there are characters and scenes that she draws differently depending on who remembers them? Can we not perhaps translate that to other instances than just those specified, or does she have to come and circle every one of them individually herself?

thinking how sebastian has canonically admitted he sometimes teases ciel by delaying responding to his call, even in genuinely dangerous situations, because he loves the desperation in ciel's voice when he's calling for sebastian repeatedly. like. who is doing it like these freaks. nobody. 13 year old satanic ritual abuse survivor and his emotional support demon obsessed with eating his soul turning every life or death situation they're in into a weird bdsm game that makes everyone trying to kill them profoundly uncomfortable.
