lex sat up with lucky’s sheet wrapped around her body, shrugging her shoulders in response to his statement. she knew she didn’t have to, but part of her felt like she should. this wasn’t her place. she got too complacent when she was around lucky. it was something she never let herself do, but lucky wasn’t like other people. “i should though.” she told him, making no real effort to move. “you probably have stuff to do, and i definitely have stuff to do.” roll the dice wouldn’t run itself, and she needed lucky to go do his stuff so that she could take her next step. “you and i both know that i should.”

lex narrowed her eyes at the brunette, trying to figure out if she was telling the truth or if she was someone that lex needed to be concerned about. lex didn’t often let people bother her, but there were a few people that were definite threats. lex didn’t think this chick was one of them, but she could never be too careful. “it locks just fine.” lex looked at her, “and if it didn’t... that’s what security is for.”

I’ve been trying to catch up with you for a bit – but wow, you sure walk fast ! ” With that, she holds the leather wallet out towards the woman, just happy she could reunite it with it’s proper owner. 

lex looked down at the girl’s hands and then up at her face before looking down at her hands again. then her own hands immediately went to her pockets, apparently the girl wasn’t lying. her wallet had fallen out of her pocket. anyone else probably would have taken it for themselves, so lex would be lying if she said she wasn’t impressed. “thank you,” she took her wallet back and shoved it into her back pocket before looking the girl up and down, “i owe you one, really.”

james cleared his throat and raised his eyebrows, crossing his arms over his chest. she knew he hated when she did that (he didn’t want the local street urchins to get the wrong idea), but he honestly couldn’t be too upset with her. lex was an old friend and a lot of the business he got was recommendations from her.

“well. you came to the right place,” he finally replied, leaning his back against the counter behind him. “would i regret asking what you did this time?”

lex definitely made herself a little bit too comfortable when it came to james’ bar. but the place had saved her ass on more than one occasion, so it made sense that it was like a home to her. there was a reason it was one of the few places she went that had nothing to do with furthering her empire.

“technically,” lex began, looking over at him, “i didn’t do anything. and i mean that.” she shrugged her shoulders, “it’s the stupid fire. i’m suspect number one because lorenzo santori is a little bitch. and i might have gotten pissed off and mouthed off to the asshole interrogating me.”
