these are the steps i used to get to this result. After positioning the face under the apple I had to scale it to fit the apple to make sure it looked in proportion. From here I used a light brush on the masked area to reveal the areas I wanted to show through from the layer behind. After I had the areas I wanted I decided to play around with the lighting modes and decided to go with “dissolve” because it added more visual impact to this composite. As it is a hyper reality shot I feel this works well and fits with the brief. Finally I opened camera raw to brighten the image slightly and boost the colours slightly.

Hyper Realism - the bottom two are my first attempts and the final is at the top. I like the dispersion effect as it adds another layer of interest to the shot.

above is the link to my magazine. I was extremely chuffed with how it turned out and love the way I decided to display my images. This is something I’d love to do again.

Work Experience
For my work experience I’ve been working with a fashion store based in Glasgow called Ryan James Studio. I approached Ryan and explained what we had to do and he was up for letting me be the “store photographer”. I have visited the store many times to discuss ideas, plan shoots and so on. So far he was been very pleased with all the images and is keen to carry on working together in the future which is good news. Above are a sample of the stuff I’ve been shooting, mainly product shots and gift sets for certain clientele. We have more shoots planned and some stuff planned for the future. It has been a pleasure working with Ryan and was brilliant experience for me to see what things shops or companies may be looking for.

Guest Speaker Review
Mark Russell Devon Poole HND2A 15.8.17 Mark Russell - works with Trespass and Nevis Sport Identify an element of the guest speakers talk that resonated with you in some way - good to relate to him because he was a student as well and came from the same areas as us. Gives you some confidence thats theres work out there for students after they’ve left college etc. - he worked part time in a supermarket, same as me. Makes me realise that it’s doable and can do both for extra cash. - you have to go out and find clients, not wait for them to come to you. - stick to your price, don’t change prices for people as the word will get around that you changed prices. What questions will/did you ask the visitor? How do you think this will impact your own practise as a photographer? - motivates you as you can see if you put in the work it’ll reward in the end. - don’t be nervous to try new areas and experiment with different styles etc. Extra notes - always give your client the best work as possible and always do the best you can. - stresses how important it is to get it right in camera, saves you a lot of time later on. - networking is super important because you never know who you will need and when. - always have a few business cards on you, never know who you may meet. - don’t be scared to try new things and new areas of photography to attract new clients. - make your portfolio suited to different clients. - first and last images in the folio are the most important. - push your ideas to clients, they’ll sometimes to be impressed with your new ideas etc. - don’t be scared from any client or job, the jobs or client may not come again, take the chance. - interns info on their website, trespass. - don’t be afraid to be influenced by other photos and try stuff similar to their style. - always have the kit ready to go, never know when you may need to go to a job or who needs you. - always have written proof of confirmation for grounds or areas etc, and a contact for on the day. - get insurance, it’ll protect you when things go wrong.

3rd time not so lucky
I haven’t been able to shoot anything outside so far as i’ve had to reschedule three times whether it being models not showing up or weather problems. I’ve got my ideas and locations in place just need to get a model who’s available and willing to turn up on the agreed date.

At this location there were a lot of nice backgrounds and some covered in graffiti, this worked well as Zoe had mainly dark clothes on so the graffiti added visual impact. I managed to capture an image thats included in my final 3 that really shows how well Zoe and I get on which I feel is very important. As a whole the 3 images give a glimpse into Zoe which I feel is interesting for the viewer as they get to see what she’s like.

This was my final shoot with Zoe, I met now through some friends and every time we are together we always chat clothes etc and get on well. We went to an abandoned building for this shoot, some nice walls are areas that will be nice to shoot in.

These are possibly my favourite images from the whole project. I love the colours and also the lighting in some of them. We managed to fins some very nice areas to shoot in which complimented the images. Robert was very easy to work with and was extremely comfortable infant of the camera which was a bonus.

Robert was a boy who i’d met through Instagram and also through his work, he works in a vintage shop where I visit regularly. As soon as I saw Robert I knew he was into fashion, he was always very well dressed. After chatting on Instagram for a while I thought he would be another ideal candidate for this brief. We met in Glasgow and wandered around some areas I had in mind and got some cracking shots
