I understand how you feel about Diabolik Lovers now that you've seen what goes down and it's completely wrong to cause sexual/mental/physical abuse even if it is animated. But, does that mean that it shouldn't be liked? No matter how bad Dialovers has been, it for some reason has been a safe haven for me to just make cute little scenarios for myself to enjoy even if the actual people are complete psychopaths.

No, I dont think it's inherently bad to like DL.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and just because I dont like something doesn't mean other people aren't allowed to. I'm not here to tell you how to think or feel, and I'm certainly not here to dictate your likes, that's up to you. So if you like DL and want to continue supporting the series, go for it!

Yes, the content of Diabolik Lovers is incredibly triggering for many people, and I feel bad knowing how many people have stumbled across it and been taken to a dark place because of the subject matter. But I'm glad that people have matured since first entering the community.

As for Danganronpa, I've never watched it, but with all the free time I suddenly have I'm willing to give it a try ^_^

A quick chat about Diabolik Lovers

Trigger warning: rape, sexual abuse, lots of personal feelings.

Eagle-eyed readers will notice that I just reblogged a list of the more egregious things the boys in DL have done to the heroine/Yui. Having not played the games I wasn't aware of most of these, and having not rewatched Diabolik Lovers in 2 years this list was a figurative slap in the face. Having done my own research and finally sitting down and watching Diabolik Lovers for the first time in a while I'm shocked at how bad this show actually is.

TL;DR I'm creeped out. So much so that I'm not sure how comfortable I am with portraying these characters in a cute or romantic way.

This show will have a place in my heart, it was a show me and my friends loved for years, we made up scenarios and made jokes about it. The only problem with this is that we were 14 when we were wildly obsessed with this show, far too young to pick up on the messages and themes in this show. I'm not suggesting there is a "hidden meaning" behind Diabolik Lovers, but the symbolism is there, and it's disturbing.

Without getting too graphic or personal, I know the difference between sexiness and rape.

Diabolik Lovers is normalizing rape culture and making it seem appealing, which is incredibly concerning considering the main audience for this show (based on my own experience within the community) are girls as young as 12.

And I know I will be getting responses to this saying that I'm overreacting and "it's just fiction." And yes, DL is a work of fiction, no one is getting hurt by this show, but this goes far beyond that. What it shows and the message it presents is something I can't possibly support or excuse.

I would say the only thing this show does well is show the audience how to recognize the signs of a victim of sexual abuse, because Yui exhibits it perfectly.

So that brings us to the future of this blog, and it's here I really start to struggle. This blog is amazing, it was safe space for me and I've made so many friends, however I just can't bring myself to continue to update, especially with the knowledge and opinions I have now. I was really putting this off because I have so much love in my heart for all of you, and in a strange way Diabolik Lovers holds a special place in my heart, even if I have to look at it through rose-tinted glasses.

So I'm fighting with myself about what to do.

I want to keep writing imagines, but it will most likely be for a different show, preferably one that doesn't downplay sexual abuse..

Beatrix is a bit...Put off by it, she's a bit offended that she had to find out rather than her sons just telling her. I imagine she's more annoyed by the fact that the Mukamis aren't blue blooded vampires, her sons can date anyone, but ex-humans?? Yikes....

Cordelia wouldn't care, maybe this is because she's not super invested in her son's lives, but she also doesn't really mind as long as her sons are having fun (*wink wonk*)

Maybe it's because he genuinely doesn't believe someone like you is with him so he needs to buy you things to make you want to stay- despite how many times you tell him he doesn't need to.

Ayato turns into a child around you, he radiates "she's with me" energy constantly, and the PDA increases tenfold, many times you two have gotten yelled at for being too close in school, not that Ayato cares that much.

Kanato is kinda the same as he always is, he's just as childish, except now he demands a lot more from you, he wants you to take care of him more, like he's testing you to see if someone like you can handle it. But don't get confused! He does love you very much!!
