Character introduction: Emma

Emma is the main protagonist and founder of Diagnostech; a business centred around diagnosing and repairing devices akin to a diagnostician treating their patients! She works alongside her lifelong friend and partner AIDA.

She’s a hard worker who’s always itching to show off her skills and takes her job super seriously—so seriously, in fact, she rarely leaves herself time to take breaks. With the right people, Emma is energetic and endlessly chatty about what she’s interested; especially the development of AIDA. She’s immensely proud of her work and eager to show it off the world.

Despite her sociability, Emma is also extremely anxious and quickly tires out when speaking to people for long periods of time. She views her job as a form of exposure to help her with socializing and, while she loves what she does, treasures the time she has where it’s just her and AIDA alone. She’s a chronic over-thinker who is quick to panic over hypothetical worst-case scenarios. This paranoia leads her to keeping AIDA confined in the Diagnostech labs, not wanting for her to get irreparably damaged or lost, despite the robot’s desires to someday explore the outside world.

HI HI HI CHECK OUT MY BUDDY’S OC PROJECT!!!!!

HELLO & WELCOME!

After a while of thinking about it, I decided it would be a fun idea to dedicate a whole blog to my big OC passion project; PROTOZOA RAINBOW! So here it is!!

Whether youre here from my main blog; @gyaru-tau, or you've stumbled upon this by random, I'll give you a brief rundown of all the details! QnA style!

WHO AM I?

WHAT IS THIS STORY ABOUT?

As it currently stands, PROTOZOA RAINBOW is a highly in progress concept for a game that I would one day like to create! It centers around a young girl named TALULU, who lives her life in a giant facility called PARADISUS created by a mysterious group called the EDENTIDE FOUNDATION.

Lulu's assigned and unquestioned duty is to enter a digital world and monitor its inhabitants with the help of an android companion named MAYSIX. But upon getting to know a tech-savvy citizen of the digital world named ZEEYOH, Lulu begins to doubt her position, and the glass ceiling of EDENTIDE comes crashing down.

Being the only ones privy to this, its up to the three to unravel what's really going on in PARADISUS.

HOW FAR ALONG IS THE DEVELOPMENT?

In short: Incredibly early. More than anything, you should treat this blog as more of an OC blog than a game dev blog. PZRB is my dream project, but due to this, it will be highly subject to change, and I would like to create other, much smaller projects before I tackle this one.

That said, lots of things will be changed and reworked, characters will be redesigned overtime or even outright removed, lorem ipsum, etc. etc.

That's about all I have to say for now! If you have any questions, feel more than welcome to ask!! I would love nothing more than to talk about these characters and work out my ideas!

HEHEHE OH BOY OH BOY I GET TO ANSWER THE BIG QUESTION!!! short answer: yes!* (<—with an asterisk)

long answer (aka The Asterisk): oh boy, it’s very hard to explain what they are to each other… emma has has aida as a companion for years, ever since she was a child in fact! as emma grew up, she made more and more adjustments to aida’s body and cpu, advancing her further and further until she became the robot she is today. emma never really connected with people that often growing up, but she always resonated with machines; being able to break them down into codes and parts and analyze how they work was much easier for her to understand than trying to guess the unspoken intentions of other humans…as such, emma is INCREDIBLY attached to her, to the point of being a bit smothering w/ how overprotective she is. aida is the embodiment of her life’s work and her love for technology, so it would completely break her if aida ever got—well, broken..of course, it’s their jobs to fix up any machinery, so it shouldn’t be problem right?? at least, that’s what aida thinks anyway…

but asides from just a general attachment to her formed over time, emma kinda..isn’t sure what exactly she feels for aida! she’s never really crushed on any other people, but she can imagine what it feels like to love someone romantically. she cant really see herself in that sort of relationship, though..but she contemplates her relationship with technology and if perhaps her fondness for it would be comparable to how other humans love each other..? truthfully, she doesn’t really know what to call it, but she’s okay with calling whatever her feeling is towards aida a form of love…ive done a few doodles of emma waxing philosophical abt what her undefinable feelings mean to her before bc it’s smth i love to ponder:

as for aida, what she feels towards emma—if it can be constituted as feeling—is similar from what she understands! the world of a robot who has “feelings” is an enigma for humans, because we only have our own human feelings to go off of to define anything. aida uses what she observes from emma and the other humans she interacts with to find descriptors for her “feelings”, or what she defines as such from behaviours and reactions. emma is familiar, she is easy to understand and talk to, so aida would say she feels “comfortable” being around her. as for whether or not that would constitute as “love” as its defined by humans…she’s not so sure. aida is just as lost, if not more so, abt what to call her feelings towards emma..but thankfully she and jo-jo like to chat about their human partners and it helps her get a read on what she might call her own relationship.

tldr; their bond exists outside of the realm of simple platonic or romantic labels of which ppl use to describe their own relationships. but i also just think they’re cute together so i make them kiss and cuddle sometimes. yay!!!!!

AND ALSO TO ANSWER UR QUESTION ABT AIDA’S NAME: it’s intended to be pronounced like AE-duh! as in “aid” because she’s a nurse (so yes im pretty sure u were right in how u wrote it!)

important information about how diagnostech characters sleep at night

sometime i’d rlly like to go into just how aida perceives things and how different it is compared to how humans do…she can’t feel texture, but she can sense density and temperatures. she would need some kind of touch-sensitive technology in her fingertips in order to properly sense “touch”, but i still don’t think it would feel like a texture beyond being that amount of pressure..but she does delight in things that are soft and squishy and do not stay affixed to on w point of pressure, like soft skin and fur, it’s just super interesting to her!!

and also something like taste..it’s hard to attribute something like that to a robot without taste buds, but since she knows humans consume food products to stay operational, she equates it to how it feels when she has to charge overnight; controlled currents of electricity entering her system..she can feel it, but she can’t Taste it, and describing taste is a lot like describing color—how the heck do u describe it without just saying the word!? aida knows that emma likes the taste of things she says are “sweet”, that it’s a sensation that makes her feel bright and energized, and the neural pathways that make taste receptors talk to the brain are also like currents of electricity right? so for aida, what she would describe as “sweet” would be a slow, gentle current of electricity from a charger..she doesn’t like high amounts of voltage at fast speeds, which to her would be something “bitter” or “spicy”; sometimes it’s nice, but not in overwhelming amounts!

while im not totally sure on what aida’s exact materials are, i imagine her being pretty lightweight and made of a lot of sturdy plastics..she’s still got some weight to her, so take what emma says with a grain of salt
