My road to Fandom

It was 2013 when I was in my fourth year of college when I first saw them. It was one of my dorm mates who showed me their video (she's a die hard K-POP fan), I'm not really interested though. I'm more of a western band or singer fan back then and I can't really understand K-POP songs so I didn't pay much attention to it. The first person that caught my attention was V (Kim Taehyung), I think I really like his face back then, but that was it. I didn't even search them on the internet after that.

Fast forward to year 2016, me and my officemates traveled to Korea. Some of them are asking me, 'who is BTS? My niece/cousin is asking me to buy some merchandise of them as a souvenir?' But I always replied that I've heard of them but I'm not really sure who they are. So I've always advised them to just look them up on the internet. I didn't realized that this trip will become one of my regrets in life. Why? Because I didn't know back then that I'll became a huge fan of BTS. And yes I didn't bought any merchandise of them during that trip.

Few months have passed, it was around June of 2017, when I came across a video of V, the only member that I know during that time, I was laughing my ass while watching. It was a fan made compilation of his silliness. Since the videos on that app is on auto play, and the videos that are showing are related to the first one, I kept on watching and it was as if I'm watching a gag show.

After that I got curious to their music. I still don't recognize the other members. I still only knew V, and still got confused when he's with the other members because for me they look the same that time. The first music video that I watched was Not Today, and I was like, 'ohh! I like the beat though I'm not gonna buy it since I can't really understand anything'.

Then I watched more of their videos not the MV though, those videos that are showing their silly sides. Then my knowledge of them widened a little. I can already recognize V, Jimin, and Jungkook. Yep! I became a fan of maknae line first. They're too crazy, and it was too funny watching how they interact with each other. 😂

More funny videos, and I came across a video, that triggers my Fandom. It was a video of Suga (Min Yoongi, My ultimate bias), buying a gift for their fans to be given on his birthday on their mini fan meet. It was so touching for me since it was the first time I saw an idol make that much effort to give a gift to his fans during his birthday. Usually it was the other way around. And seeing him make an effort to write a letter to each one of the gift was really something. 😍 Plus the maknae line helping him is too cute for me to handle.

Then I started watching their videos, and came across Fire (Burning up) (sorry I don't really know how to write this in Hangul, so I'm writing the English translation. 😂) And I was like, OMG!!!! LIKE OH MY GOSH! MIN YOONGI IS SUPER COOL! HIS SO HANDSOME! SO CUTE! SO SEXY! *insert everything that describes MIN YOONGI. And yes I can only identify four members here. FYI the timeline is still in June 2017. 😂 I think it was only a week since I started watching their videos.

I continued watching their MV's and searching infos of them on the internet, and finally able to identify the 7 members. 😂 😂 It still takes a lot of effort from me, since I'm not really good in remembering faces. 😂 😂 Their was a time while watching the MV of Spring day, that I thought that everyone in the MV was Jungkook! 😂😂 To be honest, til now I really don't know how I made that mistake. Even Suga who is my Ultimate Favorite among them was Jungkook in my eyes that time. Now that I'm looking back, I really think that I am the worst in identifying a person. 😂 😂 But then with few more videos I've come to identify them, even with different clothes, hairstyle, even their pre-debut photos. I've come to love Jin-oppa's old man Jokes, even if I find it too corny and I really love his dancing, his too cute when he tries his best. I've come to love Namjoon's seriousness and silliness. His cute side, even his destructive side. 😂 I've come to love Hoseok's loudness, even though at first I was really annoyed. 😂 Jimin's sexiness and cuteness. Arrgh that two faced guy. His just too adorable and sexy, I cannot unsee him, really. Jungkook, the super talented one. Really? What else can you not do? Taehyung, the alien. I really want to go inside your brain to see what you're really thinking. It's a real mystery for me. And of course Yoongi-oppa, his savageness is really something. I really like him being straight forward. I really think that his sooo real everytime he speaks. 😁

And now after 5 months of being a fan, my phone is full of their photos, only their songs are downloaded in my Spotify, my wallpaper and lock screen is them, my picture in my mobile legend account is Min Yoongi, I am voting in MAMA and was pissed when the votes for them was lessened due to the clean up that MNet has made, I'm always streaming in YouTube, Spotify, I have an account on vLive and their the only one I'm following there, I've created a Twitter account in order to follow them since that's the account that they are more active, I've turned on all the notifications that are connected to them.

Now I was so pissed because I just found out that the hotel that we stayed at Gangnam was just a few blocks away from Bighit's office. If I was a fan back then I might have been there. If I was a fan back then, I might have bought every merchandise that I've seen. I was so pissed, but then I realized that I can always go back to Korea, I can always support them and watch them, I can always cheer for them, I can buy their merchandise online, because I will be an ARMY NOW AND FOREVER. I WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR THEM. I WILL ALWAYS CHOOSE THEM OVER ANY IDOL THAT WILL COME. ❤️
